S.H.I.E.L.D.!

But a piece of alien tech in the shape of a centipede that when planted on a human arm to make them incredibly strong, amplified with a drug that makes people glow red and explode is fine. I agree, the car was cheesy. But this is a television show set in the same cinematic universe where a guy from Asgard flies about with a hammer and there's a guy who turns into a giant green rage monster. It's a Marvel TV show about a world full of super heroes and alien technology, you have to suspend your sense of disbelief when watching this stuff. It was also only the first episode, which traditionally have never been great in any TV show.
I can easily suspend my disbelief and I get that it's a Marvel universe. Doesn't make flying cars any less stupid.

Anyways, I'm really just nitpicking with the stupid car. The writing was horrible and that is what disappointed me more than anything.

"hey Sky, we don't know anything about you and you keep leaking sensitive info to the general public, you've hacked our computers and stolen information from us, want a job"? "Oh, we need to interrogate you and get info from you, I'll just give this super duper truth serum to my co-worker here and let him tell you how pretty he thinks you are".

Granny...

ugh

The flying car just didn't fit and was stupid (even looked bad SFX wise). Everything else was fine.

I'll give it a few episodes to catch me, but I found the pilot to be only so-so. I'm a big fan of Whedon's previous efforts, so I'll give this an extra chance. I would much prefer that he do something more original or make a show based on Fray.

A show or movie based on Fray would be amazing. A future sci-fi fantasy vampire slayer show? Sign me up!

Too bad it'll never happen. :(

Anyone watch Sanctuary before it was cancelled? The production value sucked but I liked the show, actually this show reminded me of Sanctuary, at least in terms of production value/quality

Yeah, I really dug Sanctuary for a minute. Was pretty disappointed when it just fell off the airwaves.

They left it so open :( and it was just opening up to be pretty cool, with hidden earth and all that jazz.

Yup and I agree with SFX were really bad but the show was pretty great. I mean I started watching it for the daughter in season one and even after what happened to her I continued to watch it. That's something VERY few shows can do with me, keep me watching after removing the character that got me to watch it in the first place.

Now all I need is for them to bring it to Netflix, find a season or episode where it feels right for it to end and not watch past that point. :D

Lol Emilie Ullerup got me interested in it too, and Amanda Tapping (SG fan), was sad when she was written out of the show. The story line started to take a good path with the classic literary characters and what not

I kept expecting her to come back, even up until the show was canceled. I fully expected some form of "I don't know who I am" with some cliche "You're my daughter but from another time-line" sort of thing.

Me too, lol I figured they would pull something and bring her back..like she was still alive or something

Avengers had a flying aircraft carrier. A flying car is pretty tame for the Marvel universe

With the technology advancing extremely fast every year, flying car may be possible in real life within the next 100 years. So... don't laugh at it for being stupid. ;) We have technology that is as small as a single human hairline. It isn't possible 30 years ago.

To quote Nina Sharp from Fringe - "science and technology have advanced at such an exponential rate for so long... it may be well beyond our ability to regulate and control them.".

In the end our advancement in science and technology will inevitably lead to our extermination.

Yeah Smurf that was pretty awesome, especially because all interviews and such lead us to believe that it wasn't going to happen. I went to the kitchen to get a drink and all of a sudden I heard that conversation and I was like !!!!!!!!.

Lol yeah. He did caught me off the guard. Didn't see that coming. Pretty cool, though!

Another crap episode.

Dat life raft....AHAHAHAHAHHAHAH

Yeah, my wife and I found that very odd. It's no way raft could prevent the powerful sucking air. I think the 2nd show is good overall. Certainly not the best, though (other than at the end of the show which I though was awesome.) I'm ready for the third show next Tuesday (ugh, I hate waiting that long).

Haven't seen tonights ep yet but sounds like it's a decent one

Also, @IdleHands is that Anna Kendrick in your av?

Aye. I lurv her something fierce.
Dat girl from Twilight movies. ;)

No. Just no.

She's that crazy hot chick from Pitch Perfect.

I have to agree about the raft. Overall I enjoyed the episode even though you saw everything that was going to happen long before it happened, except that final conversation involving Coulson.
When Skye looked at the "map" of the bus and went to get the raft I was so hoping it was some kind of sci-fi high tech foam or something made for just such an instance, that would have at least been more interesting and far less "Oh, come the f*** on, REALLY? REALLY!?!?!?!"

She was in Twilight though :p

and haven't watched Pitch Perfect, but watched this..and DAYYYYYYYUM

As a Buffy fan I have to ask: What's this "Twilight" you speak of?

Also, I much prefer this version of that song and wish she had done it a capella as she does in this clip

Twilight is this horrible creation that will haunt generations for years to come.

I haven't seen that clip..I did see the shower titanium scene though lol should I watch this movie?
