Skyrim

I heard the trip from Falkreath to Markarth (or some other city starting with M) was really nice. I'd like to forget quests and just do some wandering/exploring, just see the scenery.

That trip was tougher than I thought, so I gave up. I got turned around, lost in the mountains.

So I'm back to questing. Trying to make my way to Saarthal right now. Mage's guild.

I love the bow and arrow. I'm getting better at it, not needing to aim so carefully; it's more automatic. It's my main weapon.

Played a couple times in short sessions today. That seems to work pretty well. 30-45 minutes, take a break.

Morrowind would be great in VR. Seeing the Telvani city, the Redoran house, Vivec, etc. Great game for VR, I think. I'd definitely replay it in VR. I wanna see Fargoth in VR.

Whoah, those character models are pretty rough.

Even with those visuals, I think it would be amazing in VR!

I'd love to wander around Balmora in VR...

The plus is that it would run like butter. The biggest problem with Morrowind on the Xbox was obviously the performance, glitches and load times. I remember having to clear the cache just so it would run better than 20 FPS.

Played a hr-long session of Skyrim this morning. Good stuff, although my thieves guild questline might be bugged. I de-activated the quest, but I've got Mercer Frey following me everywhere, lol. I guess I'll go restore the Eldergleam with Mercer Frey...

I increased my snap angle a bit, so I can turn around faster. That's helping. I'm also getting proficient with the bow. That's pretty much all I use. That and the shout.

I got this thing, I like it:

Yeah if this game was archery only with all the other content, I would have bought it still. It feels so good ripping arrows. I'm actually liking melee alot more than the controller now too. Everything actually. The shield is annoying sometimes, but I need more practice. I like that display you bought, might look into that.

My sister played this in VR for the first time after investing over 100 hours on PC. She absolutely loved it. She didn't say much putting on the headset, her mouth was open as she looked around. She was asking questions about movement, but no real reaction. After she took off the headset after about twenty minutes of playing I asked her what she thought.

"I think you're a dick."

"Why?"

"Because you know I don't have a ps4, I just bought a switch, and now I have to buy this fvcker too." haha

Had your sister ever played a VR game before?

If it is your first experience, and you're a Skyrim fan, that would be a real trip, playing this as your first VR game. It was for me.

She had played Superhot before and really liked it, but her argument was its "just an experience." Can't really say that about Skyrim. lol

Yup, good point. Skyrim is a massive game, not a brief experience.

Seeing the transition to VR for a game she'd played for 100 hrs must've been weird for her. I know it was for me.

Blew her fvcking mind I think. lol

just started the dawnguard stuff as gonna be a vampire lord then join dark brotherhood.
in my 290+ hours on the 360 version I was a fully maxed out stealth assassin with mainly dual daggers and bow, I could sneak up and one shot almost anything, even on legendary.
This time around I am more a caster and boy how much fun is it, slinging spells in VR lol
amazing how much different the game feels, imagine next gen (or one after...) where we have true HD or maybe 4K VR head sets, now that's gonna blow people away for sure.

Archery literally feels 10x better in VR. There's something about the way the arrows feel in VR, it's much more visceral and rewarding, looking down an arrow and releasing it.

Just had a great session. Finally figured out how to hold the bow. I was holding it wrong. So much better now. Pin-point accuracy. Well almost.

Got my thieves' guild quest unbugged (it was my mistake), so I finally got rid of Mercer Frey. Thank god; he's annoying. So cranky.

The waterfalls at Markarth are great to look at in VR.

For you guys using a mage. Have you fired magic behind you yet while running forward? It's awesome to physically turn your body/head and shoot enemies behind you. You could probably swing a sword too, but you might pull a muscle haha

Got my copy today. I'll be playing this sometime later tonight. Can't wait! Somehow, I feel like just skipping the controller setup and going right to the Move setup.

Cool. The initial character creation is easier with the DS, but if you're committed to the Moves, go for it. Hold trigger and swipe up or down to move the cursor; press the Move button to select.

p.s. Here's the controller layout:

Hmm, maybe I'll just get a character set up first with the controller. Can you switch back and forth whenever? Thanks for the layout tip.

Had a good hour and a half session tonight, my longest. I could've played more. Got the Eldergleam, fixed the tree in Whiterun. Did some other stuff, too.

I'm usually pretty relaxed playing now, whereas it felt a bit draining the first few times. It's feeling more natural; I'm getting used to it.

Combat can get scary at times. The fight with the witches and hargraven to get the Nettlebane, for instance. That felt like a much tougher fight in VR than in the real game. I think it was because of the Move controllers and the fact that I don't know the buttons well enough to react quickly. But also having a couple of witches right in your face throwing fire at you is ... unsettling.

Glad you're getting accustomised to it. I agree it can be unnerving. I never got rattled playing this on a TV. Oh, and that thing you talked about earlier, how the characters look you directly in the eyes, they do that in combat too, kinda freaks me out.

just became a vampire lord lol
this is getting better and better in VR....

I always thought it would be a hassle to be a vampire with all the feeding and powers based on sunlight/darkness?
