Skyrim

I played standing up last night with a fan on me. Went to a Forsworn camp to do one of the typical "kill the bandit leader" missions. Ended up being incredibly satisfying, fighting on the edge of the mountains as I made my way up. Every once in awhile I would stop to take in the view and once an arrow flew right past my head from above.
There was a sensation as it whizzed by me, causing me react to duck down. haha. I felt like an idiot but the sense of the presence of that arrow felt real. Such a small thing, but really sold me. A dragon flew by and the music kicked in, but he never landed, it gave an awesome background as I picked off the forsworn though. Four hours of my life just evaporated and I loved every minute of it.

I had that same thing happen where an arrow whizzed by. And what was cool, is that based on the arrows trajectory, I immediately looked right up at the guy standing on a tower. In the standard version I probably would have had to look around for a minute.

Patch today

Skyrim on PSVR Update 1.2.20 Patch Notes

New Features

  • Added option for player camera height adjustment
  • Added option to adjust movement speed using direct movement with the PS Move Controllers
  • Option for crosshair when using PS Move Controllers added to VR settings menu
  • Crosshairs when using PS Move Controllers are now only visible when casting
Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issues with left hand mode
  • Fixed issues where perks could be used before they were unlocked
  • Fixed Eagle Eye perk not working with crossbows
  • Fixes for the “Telekinesis” spell
  • Other bug fixes

The height and movement speed are big bonuses for me. My character felt pretty short and I didn't like running everywhere.

On sale at Amazon today as well. I'm tempted but would rather have digital.

Am I the only one this happens to? I put on the PSVR and realize I forgot to put the disk in. Then I'm too lazy to take the headset back off so I fumble around trying to find the right disk.

Amazon product

I'm still playing this game 3 days per week. I noticed that I get really excited to play it everytime I put on the headset. Really an amazing experience to play such an old game and still get this excited, whereas the remaster bored me to tears really quickly. I've been using 1lbs weights strapped on my arms and playing, it really adds to the immersion when using a sword/shield. I read that on reddit and gave it a try.

I'd strap the weights to the front of the HMD to keep it pressed flush to my face. I can never get that perfectly snug fit.

Try lifting the back of it higher on your head, give it a bit of lean. Works for my dad at least.

New patch for PSVR version. Monday.

Skyrim PSVR Update 1.4.40.0.8 Patch Notes

  • Added a new main menu experience
  • Globally improved visual fidelity, particularly on PS4 Pro
  • Increased the maximum value for the height offset slider
  • Various bugfixes
  • Changes when using PS Move controllers:
    • In direct movement, changed the secondary X button to move the player backwards.
    • Added a new option, enabled by default, to "Show Hands When Sheathed"
    • Sheath/unsheath has been moved to hold secondary O button.
    • Adjusted angle for spell targeting to be more comfortable
    • The existing swimming has been moved to a new option for “Realistic Swimming”. Swimming by default now uses Direct Movement style controls
    • Added option for HMD-relative direct movement instead of controller-relative direct movement.
    • Added a new option for “Realistic Bow Aiming” which uses both PS Move controllers to aim
    • Players can now point at map markers and get information on them in local map mode

The two I underlined are pretty huge I think.

Patch is live today. It's definitely more crisp on pro. The difference to me is like going from 720p to 900p, something like that, maybe a bit more. I have no idea what the actual resolution is. There is also a 3D intro screen where you in this cave with a waterfall that's super cool.

EDIT: Now there are added control options and magic is much easier to use. This is by far the best update the game has gotten. I'm noticing a bit more draw distance too.

Finally, we have some exciting announcements for the game itself. Current and future owners of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on any platform including Xbox Game Pass Subscribers will receive access to three free pieces of Creation Club content: Fishing, Survival Mode and even new quests with Saints and Seducers. Additionally, Skyrim Special Edition owners on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, as well as Xbox Game Pass subscribers on Xbox Series X|S will receive a free upgrade to an enhanced version on November 11 for their respective PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S systems!
We’re also excited to announce the most definitive version of Skyrim to date: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition. In addition to the three free Creation Club items mentioned above, this version contains the full game plus all three expansions and over 500 pieces of unique content from Creation Club, including pre-existing and new quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells and more!
Existing owners of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive the option to purchase an Anniversary Edition upgrade for their Special Edition version of the game to gain access to all the additional content found in the Anniversary Edition.

As much as people make fun of it, Skyrim is one of my all time favorite games and all time most played games. Any excuse to try out a new character and roam though the world again is fantastic by me! Hopefully we get an actual trailer to see what the enhanced graphics will look like during Gamescon.

I finally completed the main quest and DLC's main quest lines on the Special Edition last gen. My initial characters, I spent huge amounts of time trying to level up, realized you ironically level up the quickest by actually completing quests.

Never got the complaints about this getting re-released. Doom is still king in that department, and if people want to play/buy it on multiple platforms, let them. I've technically bought Skyrim three times so far, but with the Steam Deck coming, I'm waiting for it to play on the go. Glad I never bought the switch version.

Never got the complaints about this getting re-released.

If people don't want to buy another Skyrim, then don't? I never buy re-releases. But I am not gonna say that they shouldn't be released, because gamers clearly buy them in droves.

Weird how we haven't heard a single thing about the Anniversary Edition next gen enhancements since the announcement, and it's only 2 and a half weeks away from release now.

Still no details on the next gen enhancements, but they did mention them coming at the end of the video. Hopefully that doesn't mean they'll arrive after the 11th. Below is all I can find.

We will have details coming soon for next-gen optimizations coming to players on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5

So the next gen update is basically just more content? No visual or performance improvements?

This is what they said last week. With the gaming releasing on the 11th, hopefully we receive info this week.
