Exclusive Battlefront gameplay from Star Wars Celebration may be live streamed
Didn’t get tickets to this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California? Apparently there’s no need to worry, as this year will mark the first time the Star Wars Celebration will be live streamed so that non-attendees can stay in the loop. Verizon and StarWars.com announced their partnership today, promising to cover many of the events for over 30 hours of content.
Included in this live stream will be events surrounding DICE’s upcoming
Star Wars Battlefront, which was recently revealed as
coming first to Xbox One before PlayStation 4 or PC. When EA
first announced Battlefront‘s attendance at the Celebration, it promised that its panel session regarding the game would be available to view online in real-time. But, it remained unclear if that coverage also extended toward the
closed-door session that will reveal the world’s first look at
Battlefront’s gameplay, considering the concept of a closed-door session means it’s exclusive to the attendees who get to go behind the closed door. Things are looking up for non-attendees, then, or even attendees, as the wording of today’s live stream announcement makes it sound possible that fans worldwide will in fact get a chance to see the same gameplay despite it being touted an exclusive event:
“Additionally, StarWars.com and Verizon will be live streaming the Star Wars Fan Film Awards; the Smuggler’s Bounty radio drama; EA’s new Battlefront videogame; and several other exclusive Celebration events that might otherwise be missed by members from Star Wars’ global fan community.”
It’s possible the announcement simply means to say that EA’s panel discussing
Battlefront will feature in the live stream; however, the apparent subject of the live streaming seems to be the game itself, meaning non-attendees may get more than a trailer or bootleg gameplay videos after all.
The Star Wars Celebration runs from Thursday, April 16 to Sunday, April 19. The live stream will lead off with the event’s introductory panel featuring J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy, the director and producer respectively of
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and also includes interviews with the movie’s actors such as Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
EA’s
Star Wars Battlefront panel is scheduled for Friday, April 17 at 10:30am PT.
The live stream will be viewable on StarWars.com.
