Official Thread The Division v. 2

So what's the point if the mode? What do you get out if it? If I do extract that virus thingie, do I get a Babe Ruth rookie card?

You get that life changing awesome feeling that comes from having achieved something truly difficult and over coming nearly overwhelming opposition. In a video game. Plus a gold star and a hand job.

I guess so. 8 new weapons as well.

I watched a stream today and it seems pretty decent. However, I do fear that people are going to be able to rush from start to DZ extraction pretty quick.

The enemies just aren't tough enough near the centre of the map. At the very least they need some super hard NPCs that come when trying to extract. But from what I saw taking out a level 30 elite doesn't take long or need any great gear.

On a more positive note; the stream I watched was PvP and it looked intense as f***. Reminds me of how the Dark Zone felt back in the beta.

I am so looking forward to playing it though. Hoping it does come this month.

Check this out. It looks great. It's nearly like a different game.

Had to turn that video off. Dude overreacts to everything little thing.

and how many times does he have to say"It's like Battle-royal, awesome" ?

The mode does look sweet though. Now we just have to wait

It does look great. I predict some ganking is imminent.

It also looks too easy right now. I am hoping they up the difficulty via the survival mechanics and up the difficulty of the Hunters. As it is right now the survival mechanics seem more like gimmicks than something you really need to worry about.

I mean you don't need to drink or eat for the dehydration and hunger aspects of survival. The Cold mechanic and freezing to death becomes pointless once you craft a healing skill.

And the 4 hunters can be taken down in seconds.

Because of that it is going to end up a race to craft the virus filter to enter the DZ and then to craft the flaregun in the DZ and essentially turn in to a boring mode but with better balanced PvP engagements.

I thought it looked hard enough. In the video the guy was getting hungry and had to find food. He also got an infection and had to take pain killers to slow it. Let's wait and see. Hopefully it will drop before Christmas.

The effect of not eating or drinking is not strong enough. You can go an entire game and not drink or eat anything with no real consequences.

The pain killers are the only constant survival mechanic that you must do. Everything else either is pointless or becomes so fairly quickly.

What they need to is..

1. Increase how quickly the cold removes your health.
2. Using a healing skill/med kit only replenishes health to a full segment the health was in at the time of usage. All health is restored at a hideout.
3. Make the visual effects of dehydration get to the point where you can't see well at all and add a severe movement to it to make shooting a real problem.
4. Limit just how effective your clothing battles the cold.
5. Make Hunters level 32 enemies.

You say this like you've played it. Maybe let's wait and see since it's only just gone live in PTS. :-)

Hey Menace, keep in mind MarcoStyle is a veteran Division player who diligently crunches numbers and basically knows the ins & outs of this game. So while things will seem easy to him they might not for the average player which is why Massive made these drastic changes to difficulty. But this is all PTS stuff so I'll bet Massive will be tweaking things.

I routinely view Marco's channel for build ideas, along with Skill Up, Upper Echelon and Like Butter. I followed Marco's advice on a Ballistic Shield build with 4 piece Sentry and its a lot of fun. And now with the new Gear Set coming to be able to use a SMG with the shield things will get even more fun.

The one thing that kind of bothers me about Survival is I don't see any indication of traditional missions that could add to the Challenge mode grind. I'm a bit tired of the same missions and while the Underground is randomly generated it still feels very samey.

I don't understand why so many are complaining on the official forums about the increase to Gear Score. I thought the whole point of the grind is to become more powerful. So an increase in gear score with higher stat levels makes sense. I guess some people don't like the grind but then I wonder why they would even play a game like this.

Doesn't matter what he is, I formed my opinion before seeing his video, it was posted just to show that others are seeing it too. There are also posts on the PTS forum about the difficulty or lack there of with the survive mechanics.

It is pretty obvious from watching videos and stuff that the Survival aspect of this DLC needs some serious tweaking to live up to the title.

The whole point of the DLC is too survive the harsh conditions, So those mechanics need to be tough and harsh and give an actual sense of impending death and survival upon completion. As it looks right now, the only way you would get that is if your forgo all the upgrading elements and just played with what you start with, but from a PvP perspective that would put you at a huge disadvantage.

Stash size will be increased to 150 in 1.5.

So more than double the size we currently have.

I ran a 3 Phase with all 5 Directives added yesterday with one other player. Got 10k XP from it. It was handy enough. Only one really hairy moment. I see there is an achievement for four players beating a 3 Phase with all Directives on. I wouldn't mind giving that a shot.

With me in the team it will be an inevitable victory.....I mean defeat

But yeah, I am down for doing it. Don't see it being too big a task.

Just Health management from the Sickness directive and over all Link ability management is what you need to watch. The hairy moment came last night when the other dude popped TacLink and then died and that reset my Recovery Link so I couldn't get him back up easily.

I suggest one person use the life support mod on the health station. It will automatically pick you up. And obviously it will help against the sickness modifier. But you'll still have to manage ammo.

That is cool. I can switch back to my Firecrest Electronics build and use a healing station. So that should take care of the healing issue.

I laugh at ammo management! Muahahaha!

I have 2700 rounds for my Pakhan and 550 shells for Sags-12 (with Destructive, Brutal & Vicious on it). I didn't even need one reload on the 3 Phase missions.
