Sup fellas, hope everyone is holding out alright. Sorry I've been MIA, seems like staying home has been making me more busy than ever lol
It's okay, we're still not into lockdown, only the colleges are closed, not middle school, high school or kindergartens (or thre equivalents here). Most inner parts of cities are fairly empty though, restaurants etc are prob going bankrupt any day now.
Gyms are open, nothing is really closed but there's rules against crowds over 50 persons amongst other things.
Our hospitals copes pretty good, free healthcare and all.
Prob why we haven't shut down our country as many others have.

Wish my gym was still open, but it's associated with the university I work at, so it won't be open until at least June 10th. Hope you and your family are staying healthy my guy!

My brother, who is a week away from being a college graduate, fell for a obvious scam.

He had a resume on Indeed and was contacted for a "Office Assistant" position. They told him he could work from home and would be making $26 a hour. They also told him they would send him a $4000 check to buy computer equipment. That all transpired last week.

Yesterday, is when I found out about the check and my bulls*** meter immediately went off. Unfortunately he had already left our mom's house to go transfer the money and his phone was dead. Now he owes the bank $4000 and luckily they put him on a payment plan.

The amount of disappointment I'm still feeling is immense. I don't understand how he could fall for such a obvious scam. I'm also kind of upset with myself for not asking questions about his new "job" when mom told me, last week, that he got one.

Mannn what the fu*k

Wait, he spent the $4000 before it hit his account? Or they rescinded the money? How did he not register that an office would pay an assistant $26 an hour? That's crazy money for an assistant

Yeah isn't a scam supposed to be about them getting money? Did they get his bank info for 'Direct Deposit' and exploit it somehow?

Nope. Mailed him a check. He deposited into his bank account and forwarded the money.

From NYT - "Fraud involving fake checks has mushroomed in recent years, and the victims are often young adults, a new federal analysis found.

In fake check schemes, criminals send checks to their victims, who deposit them. The money initially shows up in the victims’ bank accounts. Then the criminals — using a variety of ploys, like phony job offers, “overpayment” for an item bought online or bogus sweepstakes — persuade the victims to send some of the money back, often by wire transfer or a gift card. The check eventually bounces, leaving the victim owing money to the bank."

Does anyone have any logical reason why the first 2 miles of new fiber optic cable before my house has TV and internet service available to the 4 houses and mine can only receive TV service? Then, the next 2 miles has both internet and TV service available to the next 7 or so houses... Those first 2 miles are buried cable, then aerial for about a mile, then is ran underground again, but I doubt that can have anything to do with anything?

The only thing I had to look forward to this year isn't gonna happen because of their stupid computers claiming it's not an option to me with no explanation. Ugh.

Thank you for your kind words and honestly. I think you are correct. Nobody will give me an answer at their company and insist they can't give me service if it's not in their computer...

Life is s***ty, or at least what we consider non satisfactory happens more often than we want. Sometimes I wake up and get a feeling the whole day will be a big, s***ty clusterf*** of a day and sure as hell it usually ends that way.
Still, they could told you no to everything I guess.

Every day is like that for me.

I need both of them. I only have a phone for internet now. I need to get rid of Dish network so bad it's unreal. The DVR crashes multiple times per day and freezes constantly. Terrible company and terrible service. The TV service is only $10 per month more than the internet anyway.
Call them.

I did...if it's not in their system, they said there's nothing they can do. Idk why they ran some expensive cable down a road for almost 5 miles to service 11 or 12 homes and not want someone's money. Almost every house on this half of the road where their service ends is owned by old humans who want nothing to do with any of their services anyway.

Edit: They also insist on charging me $30 extra per month for a static IP address for TV service?

With the shortened workweek. I decide its a good time to return my game project that was on the ice for over a year. Hopefully, I have something to show for soon.
