This is going to be a long one so I apologize in advance if you decide to read it lol. I had my first issue with a crazy Republican the other day at work and she's now banned from the store lol. We have a regular who comes in and is always drunk and/or messed up on pills, it's an upscale area and is very expensive but damn there are a lot of pot heads, drunks and pill poppers there, also a lot of entitled middle school aged kids with debit cards but that's another story lol.
Anyway, this regular is an oddball, she's probably in her late 50's to early 60's and clearly has some mental problems as well as abusing alcohol and probably pills too. My second week at the store was in November, she came in and bought over $250 worth of stuff (it's a retail pharmacy) to send to her granddaughter. I had never met her before in my life but as I was ringing her up she proceeded to tell me multiple times how she never wanted her son to begin with and now she's upset because he won't let this customer see her granddaughter.
It took me 25 minutes to ring her up because she handed me each item as slowly as possible and kept repeating the same stories over and over again until finally, she changed the subject to how she hates all of the Mexicans in her apartment complex and that she can't sleep at night because she's afraid they are going to do something to her, she also said she was moving to Florida to get away from them lol. She's come in multiple times a week since then and has always been nice to me but that all changed Tuesday night.
She came in 3 times Tuesday and bought an alcoholic drink each time, when she came in the third time I had to go verify with a supervisor that it was ok to sell her the specific item she wanted. When I was on my way back I heard her asking a Hispanic man and his 10 year old daughter who were in line behind her if they were citizens or had a green card etc, then she asked him who he voted for and when he said Biden she started going off on him telling him that he was crazy for doing that, and everything bad going on was his fault and that he's going to get what's coming to him, then she started saying that a genocide was coming and at that point I had returned to the register and asked her not to speak to the other customers like that.
She went off on me calling me names, calling me fat (I have gained some weight since losing my Mom and Brother but telling a fat person they are fat is a waste of breath, I own a mirror and a scale lol) telling me I'm just a store employee and how dare I tell her what to do, I told her she had to leave and she made sure to grab her bottle and threw the money on the counter and kept cussing at me as she walked out telling me it's people like me that make her insurance premiums go up and I so badly wanted to say that I was sure she had Medicaid and that secondly I'm pretty sure her future liver transplant and 3 failed attempts at rehab will be pretty expensive too but unfortunately I couldn't say that lol. I felt embarrassed for her more than angry at her, she's clearly got a life that she hates.
As I said before she's now banned from the store, she found that out when she came in today (I was off) and the supervisor that banned her and put her picture up for the employees to see told her to leave, her excuse for behaving the way she did was that those people took her parking spot lol. It was 9:30 at night and the parking lot was practically empty at the time. I never thought at this age I'd be working this kind of job but when you are starting over after taking care of elderly parents for 12 years it's basically what you have to do.
