You cannot have it both ways. You decide it's bad & not use it, or it's okay & anyone can use it. You cannot selectively enforce & expect people to oblige or know the rules.I should've phrased myself better: it's different when a gay person uses "gay" versus someone who isn't gay using it as an insult/slur. But you're right, it seems to be phasing out entirely, so it's only the olds holding onto it.
My channel hit 10,000 subs the other day and that made me pretty happy.
Wait, ain't boomer also an insult?Ugh, those boomers, lol.
Oof, your defensiveness is really strange, my dude.Wait, ain't boomer also an insult?
Also are not "lol" an insult, or "Ugh"?
What happened to you "but there are things we definitely have to change our minds about as, y'know, a society and the words we use are a part of that."
I am being serious.

I am being serious. In any case I think there are lines we need to draw. Between, fair enough, it is offensive & I can stop using, vs you are being hysteria, sensitive.
There are lots of people who come and go thinking they can just start making videos and they can start making money. Right now, the algorithm is covering half my monthly pay, which is really good for now, but it can also evaporate overnight. I've been working on this channel for 8.5 years and it has not been smooth sailing for most of it.Does that generate decent income?
Sometimes randomly wonder if I could get something going like that. Y'know instead of normal stupid job.

No, boomer isn't an insult in anywhere near the way that the F-word or the P-word or the G-word or however many words have been used by people to be entirely s***ty against vulnerable populations or just outright misogyny. There is no equivalence here beyond broad tones of ageism, which that doesn't apply because a lot of Boomers are amazing.
All of this is about tossing out the "punching down" insults we used for a long-ass time to make people who weren't white dudes feel entirely s***ty. Them using it ironically (or not?) is not the same as us using it earnestly.
It comes in fits and starts. Since I was monetized at the beginning of 2021, there were times where I was making payout ($100 minimum) every 3 months, then every month, and I'd have spikes where obviously it was a bit more. Everyone's channel is obviously different and I have an advantage in that even though I don't release videos that often, they're long and engaging so people hang out. My story's obviously going to be different than the person who's racking up tens of millions of views with 15 or 30-second Shorts. That's actually more than I expected. From what I hear, decent income starts at a million subs or crazy high view counts. Or moderate views, but for a s***load of videos.
Or some people leverage Patreon or sometimes sell Merchandise or Premium versions of their Tutorials.
This is not something you can address in such simple terms, black and white. Calling someone an F-word is punching down. Calling someone a Boomer is kinda punching up, hence the appeal. The idea is isn't to eliminate insults, it's to understand which ones don't work anymore. Calling someone a "pvssy" evokes the idea that women just stand around in the house all day getting the meals ready for the kids and the family and YOU JUST CALLED A MAN THAT SO SICK BURN.I did mentioned there are different levels of offensive.
But it still applies, if it's offensive even slightly, why use it? I did not make the rule, you said it, "We need to do better"
Seems selective. Just saying.
Not really sure what you imply. But to clarify, I did not use the word as a means to insult. I hope this clarify. Is it being suggested you're using words with goal of being insulting, but not following why upset feelings are the result?

Just to be sure, the intend is what matters right? What if you use a word you didn't know offend people?
Someone said, its offensive to some people because.....
Sure. I will say sorry, I did not know that. Which again isn't the issue.
The issue is people making bad faith, accusing you of malicious intend or character which is false.

It's like, move on. You'll be okay. "s*** head" is still a perfectly acceptable insult that doesn't hurt anyone and doesn't have historical connotation. As far as gay people using "gay" or black people using the "N-word", I thought Ice Cube laid it out best here:
I am not from America. Most time I hear it use, its on comedies making fun of mostly men. So I thought it was a light-hearted clearly joke way of saying what I think is more offensive and cowardly. apparently, it seems to be the opposite.Well, it didn't occur to me there are light hearted friendly circumstances to call someone a pvssy.
Like hey pvssy nice to see you.
I mean, maybe it's possible some close friends enjoy a brand of 'friendly insult' humor I guess.
I hope youtube works out for you. I heard my friend say doing shorts, they got more views. Just cut part of the video & make it or something, Maybe it will work out.It comes in fits and starts. I hope that answers your question.
I see an issue here, people (not implying you specifically) making assumptions that someone clearly knows some words are considered insult and saying some words as an insult.
My youtube channel also stagnated as I have a very stressful job, & have little energy left in evening to do youtube.
I do know culture can cause confusion or accidently conflict. Like in some culture its rule to open present in front of people, and some the opposite. Or should you wear shoes indoor.Alight some kind of lost in translation thing.
Or perhaps differences in manner of speech or cultural slang usage, especially criticism.
So far my modeling/scupting guides has the most views, by that I mean 3 figures. Lol.I'm not in a good position to do this either, but still consider it in case circumstances change. I'm looking for different job.
I have heard of people doing 3D Avatars or Assets where they make money, and YouTube is mostly a promotional tool rather then their Primary income. I'm curious about this, but I'd have a long way to go to learn a niche in 3D.
So far my guide has the most view, by that I mean 3 figures. Lol.
But I am lucky in the sense I do not rely on youtube for income. I am considered middle (high) income group. SO I can do just for fun & helping people that may benefit from guide. My last guide was Blender beginner tips-
Good luck for your VRChat venture & job. I remember you posting §D is hard or something a while ago right?Nice. I've gotten into the weird VRChat social game and it's gotten me interested in creating.
For now, I'm leaning on program called Vroid that starts you with base models to modify. Then I do FX tweaks in Unity before upload.
Whenever I get my next job that will largley determine my schedule and how much time I can mess with this.

The one thing I am good at, after failing as a comedian & footballer, is character modeling/Sculpting.
I've cut some stuff from my longer vids into Shorts but they don't perform nearly as well as stuff I shoot specifically for it. People know, Shorts are just a different animal. It should be a different app entirely, to be honest.I hope youtube works out for you. I heard my friend say doing shorts, they got more views. I saw one of your videos a while ago. YOu have a nice voice. I wanted to talk about the game, mostly D4 & arpg, but my voice sucks. I cringe when I replay the recoding of my own voice.I've cut some stuff from my longer vids into Shorts but they don't perform nearly as well as stuff I shoot specifically for it. I'd love for YouTube to pick up more, but we'll see. I'm doing a 10K subs live stream tomorrow with Oblivion between 12p-4pm MST, so that'll be fun. A chunk of my Discord community came from watching my live streams.
