The UnionVGF PS4 general impressions thread! Got a PS4? Share your impressions.

I would give impressions, but can't log into the network, so I'll give my cousin's impressions....

CoD Ghost: Same sh!tty looking game as on PS3, just with slightly better visuals.
BF4, visually looks like a different game compared to PS3 version, he said it looks and runs great
Killzone - said it's the best looking out of the games he purchased.

I like the UI and how fast and responsive everything is, just waiting to actually be able to play (didn't purchase any game, was planning on upgrading Ghost and BF4).

did you get one in the morning no problems?

Also Flynn, curious if there's anything you notice that you think actually does beat the X1 or at least does something that the X1 doesn't and it's better for that.

I think it may take (on average) longer for most of our games to install enough to get a user into gameplay than it took me to get into Killzone, so they may handle streaming installs more efficiently.

They're day one update is smaller than ours, so people might need a bit more time getting up and running on X1... Though that's assuming PSN was up and working right with no other delays.

I'm using my phone right now, but I'll post more later.

So I've played the s*** out of BF4 on PS3. Was already nearly level 22 on that system. I actually laughed out loud the second my first match of BF4 multiplayer started. The graphical upgrade was seriously night and day. Resolution, textures, effects, aliasing, frame rate, networking, you name it, they were all immediately noticeably drastically improved. It was seriously staggering. I was killed about 3 times because I was walking around Siege of Shanghai staring at screens, backgrounds, and textures that weren't previously there on PS3. You guys have no freaking idea how much my mind is blown by BF4 on PS4. Anyone BF fans who've been playing on the previous consoles, prepare to have your minds blown.

Yeah, after not getting one at Target, then Walmart and then Kmart. Then my cousin calls me and tells me to try BJs, says they don't take pre-orders. Got to BJs at 8:40 (opens at 9), and there was one dude sitting out front, told me he called the night before, and they told him they would have 6. Zero problems getting it at BJs.........Qbert is teh happy.

I'm actually pretty excited for new gen. I know I already have BF4 on pc, and can play it at almost all settings ultra.....but I really like my mp gaming on console. I don't know, it's like subconsciously, I feel like I'm part of a unified community, where not so on pc.

I honestly never thought BF4 would look THIS much better, I'm crazily impressed.

FYI, it is sorta tough to get used to switching the aiming, grenades, shooting, and spotting if you've been playing BF4 on PS3. I tossed my nade a couple times on accident. I'm sure it'll be second nature after an hour or so though.

Left work early and picked it up from my Best Buy, glad I didn't go last night. The guy said there were 120 preorders, and about another 50 people wrapped around the building waiting to see if there were extras.

As for the hardware/initial setup, here are my impressions:

-System seems to be built just fine, it does wobble light pressure on the side, but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue if it sits in your entertainment system.
-Controller feels nice, triggers feel nice, and it feels natural for someone who plays mostly 360 games
-Update download/installation was quick, entire set-up process should take less than 20 minutes if you have a PSN account

Some Issues:
-I am a little nervous about the LED lights on the controller reflecting on my TV

-Set up/installation process isn't the most straightforward.

-I am trying to sign onto PSN right now, and I've been getting a 'Please Wait' message for 3 minutes now. Is it supposed to take that long to load up your trophies, or is something wrong?

More to come as I play the game and (hopefully) get logged on to PSN.

Edit: Now I'm getting the error code 'E82F001F8'. I was going to call support and the said that the Playstation Network is down. Seriously?? Guess I'm gonna play some Killzone single player.

By the way, the controller light is definitely shining on my plasma. I honestly haven't noticed it much though when playing. I'm sure when I'm not staring so intently at the screen staring at awesome textures in these new games, I'll be bothered by it more, but it's not a big deal at the moment.

PSN is getting hammered, still haven't been able to log in. Console is very nice though, and super quiet. Controllers are best in class hands down.

That's good to know..hoping that's all my issue is and that it wasn't the update failure message causing my problem.

Granted I can't do anything with this useless PS4 right now as I am planning on going all DD.
Yeah, your just seeing network errors. Just keep trying.

PSN refuses to sign in.. just says "Waiting" forever with the back button.

Same s*** happened to me earlier. I played offline for a bit, tried again, took a couple minutes to get PSN synced. But seriously, I was waiting like 20 minutes earlier. Just back out and try again.

Anyway, system is awesome. The look, the controller, the UI; I am very, very happy.

Only played KZ MP so far. Game looks incredible. Feels so different for a KZ to be 60fps. Anyway, back at it.

Perhaps because I did all this around 10:30 a.m., the network issue wasn't as prevalent. Can't imagine it getting better as the night goes on.

please wait

while i wait, UI is super fast, console looks really sleek. mine has the wobble......

Thumb sticks are very tacky. Incredible grip.

I found something I don't like at all about the system, there is not way of knowing if there is a disc currently inserted in the system just by looking at the console itself.
