The Watch Dogs Thread v2.0

I've been enjoying the game more and more as I play it. It's hard for me to get past how great GTA V is and it makes all other open world games seem terrible in pretty much every way possible....in my opinion of course. After I got over the minor things that I hated, I've really started to enjoy this game for what it is and tries to do. This is the best game I've bought for the PS4 so far and I'm glad I didn't put it for sale on eBay the next day like I planned to do because I was so disappointed in the beginning.

WD2 should be good.

Just think about how much better Assassin's Creed 2 was than AC1

This thread is saving me $60.00.
I guess Destiny Alpha is partly to blame also. After that, all I really want to play is more Destiny.

Gaah, playing that is what will be saving me $60...

GTA does alot of things right as far as open-world, but one thing WD has that GTA needs, is something like the gang hideouts/ ctOS bases. Just some way to get into a shootout with non-police in a somewhat structured way outside the missions. Rockstar puts more work into tennis and darts than into combat oriented side missions (of which there pretty much are none.) It just seems strange that there is no side activity dedicated to one of the core gameplay mechanics...

The shootouts are definitely my favorite part of WD, and I do wish the GTA games had similar side missions such as the gang hideouts.

Right? I thought it was so weird that they didn't really have any combat-centric side activities to do. They made the same mistake in GTA IV but then added turf wars and drug runs in the 2 DLCs so I just assumed there'd be something similar from the start in GTA V, especially since there are multiple narrative justified reasons to shape it around with Franklin and Lamar being stick-up boys against the Ballas and Trevor in his war on The Lost...

Rockstar should also take notes oh the shooting/movement mechanics in WD, which are-though much improved from past efforts- still pretty weak in GTA.

Went back to it last night. I have a lot of time spent in the game, just not with the actual story. Just wrapped up Act One. One thing I can say about Ubisoft, they do third cover shooting way better than Naughty Dog, particularly with the Uncharted series. Uncharted games use like 6 bullets to kill a guy, WD is like two or three at most. It's far more believable and I'll take that type of immersion over shallow difficulty spikes.

Just wait until you run into the Elite enemies. They have armor and take a lot more bullets to take down. I find explosives make short work of them. Grenades, the grenade launcher and my personal favorite IED bombs all do the trick. Or you can shoot them in the face with a sniper rifle.

This game has grown on me and now I really like it. It takes a while to open up but once you have most of the gadgets to craft and weapons in your possession the game becomes a lot of fun. There is a lot of freedom in the side missions like the convoy missions which offer up some nice ambush opportunities since you are given their route. I've constructed some movie like ambushes like raising a bridge to stop the convoy with the area littered with IED bombs or positioning on top of a bridge and use bullet-time (focus) to snipe the driver and watch the car go out of control. The gang hideouts are also fun but I've already completed them all.

Some of those convoy missions are insane i'm trying to take down this police convoy and i just get swamped every time and always kill the target, i also wish they swapped the amount of fixer missions with gang hideouts i could do them all day soo much fun especially in the varied enviroments.

The Convoy missions can be tough. I've found just using the Destroyer sniper rifle and a long sight line can get the job done. One shot each to take out the engines, and you should have plenty of time to pick them off as they come at you. Beware though- if you don't take those cars out, they WILL outflank and surround you. I think the AI is pretty brutal, with unusually good use of tactics.

i never harmed anyone, find a good long road, put some C4s on the road in a line then as the convoy is over it.. BOOOM, take care of anything left. easy

But how do you keep from killing the target?

am i confusing it with another side mission? lol havent played in a while, but the ones i did were either kill or capture target

I usually speed up, slam the brakes, have them spin out when they stop, accelerate hard and move up several hundred feet in front of a steam pipe and put my car sideways and go behind it. I'll wait for them to catch up, activate the pipe and lay waste to the stragglers.
