Since people can't seem to keep on topic, and I have no desire to weed through posts and hand pick one or two posts in a sea of nonsense, I closed the other thread.

Go.

I'm really enjoying the game, though I can't say it feels truly next gen or revolutionary on the PS4. The gameplay is fun, the city feels alive and unlike most games a crowd of civilians indicates something to do (account hacks, conversation
hacks, etc).

It reminds me of Sleeping Dogs more than anything else in that it is well done, smaller in scope than GTA, but does bring something new to the genre (hacking rather than fighting).

This should be 3.0 as it's the third attempt at a thread for watch dogs. I'm enojoying it but is very average.

You have to hold down the square button...but perhaps I've said too much.

Who knew it was that easy. I'm going to go stand outside the White House and press square.

i'll copy over my last 2 posts

i am about over 10 hours in and just started chapter 2 lol i love the gang hideouts, random criminal activities, points of interests and opening up sections of the map. But the problem is every other side mission (or distraction) is either boring, tedious and just horrible.

i will probably be focusing on campaign mission from now on

On one mission I arrived, saw the tower block which lay before me, and decided a sniper rifle would be a fun approach. I figured I could buy one from a nearby gun shop, so I hopped back in my car and sped off. When I reached an invisible boundary, the game yelled at me for leaving the mission area, failed the mission, and reloaded me back to the outskirts of the gang’s base I was to infiltrate. My car was now gone, as if as punishment for daring to deviate.
very poor

Be careful what you say on these forums. If the FBI notices your post up there giving out information of national security, you could be in a lot of trouble!

Watched my brother play, the guns sound like pea shooters haha i don't know why it annoys me so much.

You think the devs would have a sound file for what a AK sounds like

Also the driving looks atrocious haha

Anyone that bought Watch Dogs ever play Far Cry 3? A friend of mine has said this:

Read some more on this and watched some vids and decided to pick it up.

It is built the same as Far Cry 3 was. Same type of skill trees, same layout as far as missions.

It is way more Far Cry 3 than GTA.

Basically Far Cry 3 in a very busy city.

There are more driving and chasing missions/side missions than FC3.

Same system of unlocking towers to get better map information.

Same gang hideout side missions.

Use of stealth or all out firefights, your choice, as long as you stay stealthy. More points awarded for stealth. I started 2 missions going stealth but was eventually noticed and had to shoot my way out of the rest.

If you liked FC3 game play, and game design, you will like this.

I can't vouch for the story though, I am only a short way in.

I won't get into online because the online in PS4/X1 is different than PS3/360. 360/PS3 has much less online.

There is also a totally other game within the game, virtual trips. These are similar to to the game play of the basic game, but just add more to do in the game.

The game structure is exactly the same. I am surprised more people don't make that comparison.

I guess because it is in a city and not in the jungle.

The way enemies are tagged is exactly the same (with different emblems on the tags). It IDs if they are snipers, or can call for backup or have explosives, etc...

The way you do gang hideouts is exactly the same, go to an area, there are about 8 or so guys and you have to capture the leader alive.

Unlocking the towers is a bit better than FC3. Instead of an annoying puzzle of climbing a tower, the puzzle is more of using the security cameras and the environment to figure out how to get the the tower box to hack it.

Using stealth and takedowns is handled the same way.

I agree. Far Cry 3 is Assassin's Creed is Watch Dogs, basically. At this pace I'm sure that I'll get tired of Watch Dogs halfway through the game, which was the case with FC3.

FC3 was one of my all time favorite games. I was going to NOT get Watch_Dogs, but now with this tidbit of information, I guess I will get it. FC3 was so addicting for me.

problem is that far cry does most of those alot better

but its still a good game, worth a buy for sure if you enjoyed far cry

for PC players, putting my texture to normal totally eliminated stutter, with everything else on ultra + best AA option the game still looks as good

I don't know, FC3 was my favorite game of last gen and I'm not feeling the similarity. Watch_Dogs feels like a serviceable GTA clone, but not much else.

And then FC3 was a cheaper version of Red Dead Redemption, so it gets worse and worse. The only redeeming quality is, I am no fan of tropic setting, but I really dig the whole techno-thriller vibe.

Played some more of Watch Dogs. Starting to get into it more. Graphics are looking better and better as I progress through.

Anybody play the Free Roam? It was an absolute blast tonight. Granted, there's not tons to do like GTA5, but it's insanely fun to sit in the bed of a pickup truck while your buddy drives it 90mph down the freeway while you snipe the cops behind you with the Destroyer sniper.

One thing I think they could definitely make better in this game is the melee combat, as it is now there really isn't any. You go up to a guy and hit the button and you get the same take down move over and over again. I'd much rather be able to have it be a bit more of a contest and have more control over what Aiden is doing.

Sleeping Dogs is better. Much better. I am enjoying Watch Dogs though. It's fun and I like crashing Gang hideouts. If Aiden could fight like Wei Shen, from Sleeping Dogs, the game would be so much better than hitting people with a baton stick.

MW, no mah brotha.

I have to say, I am really enjoying it. The driving is the only thing I do not like. So if I try to blank that out and get that chore done as quick as possible, it makes everything more enjoyable. Would be nice to have silencers for more weapons though. Only one pistol and an Uzi have one.

I heard Glenn Beck thinks the game teaches people how to hack.

Nah, I tried it. Pointing your xbox controller at a lap top and pressing x does not hack the camera. My dreams of becoming a pervy voyeur destroyed.
