but you don't need it to be massive. since i got my PS4, just knowing that it runs a game at higher res or at more fps means that all my multi-plats are now on PS4.

Statements like these dont have the effects they used to have before GDC. Funny that....

In fact, I'm going to go on record and say, its no longer true.

In the future, multiplatform res and frames should be the same or so similar. But XBOX ONE will have all it's other features on XBOX LIVE (cloud functions, faster connection/lower latency), snap apps, etc.

Microsoft Game Studios Honcho has been teasing one or more Japanese Xbox One exclusives for a while, and during the Game Developers Conference he gave some more information about it after Kris Graft’s fireside chat, as reported by Famitsu.

"I'm very excited about the announcement of the release window in Japan. An unique exclusive title for Xbox One is going to be released by an awesome Japanese studio."

It’s interesting that the term used to define the studio is “subarashī,” which is basically the highest praise you can express in Japanese. That definitely seems to indicate a major developer.

Spencer then continued by talking about what we can expect from Microsoft at Tokyo Game Show.

"I’m looking forward to go to Tokyo Game Show this year, and I want to show everyone something never seen before. Stay tuned!"

lol, it's still true right now but in the future, who knows. Xbox One might be able to catch up with those new SDKs and DX12 support!

You know you are right, all the talk about about 1080p did make me go out and buy a PS4 a couple of weeks ago but I only bought my first game for it yesterday, Infamous second son. You know what, it is all in your head because I genuinely couldn't tell any difference between that 1080p native and 720p upscaled to 1080p. My wife also said she thinks the X1 games looked better. As for the PS4 operating system, talk about garbage, I went to download the bbc I player app and all I had on my screen for like 5 minutes was a loading circle, now that I've scratched that 1080p itch im left with disappointment with my PS4, the overall experience felt last gen compared to X1 including the infamous gameplay. Pretty but Boring.
Don't make the same mistake I made guys and fall for the hype, you'll be left disappointed like me. I will hold on to it at least until Uncharted 4 but as it stands the X1 wipes the floor with PS4 for overall experience.

Firstly, Ryse is neck and neck with Killzone for the best looking game so far of this gen/next gen. In fact id say Ryse outdoes Killzone in many aspects, and its only in 900p. Neither of those games are very good, but that's beside the point. Honestly, its been said before, but you aren't going to see a discernable difference unless you're playing on a huge screen. I laugh at all the 1080p at 60fps whores around the internet, who fail to mention the fact that to this point, every game that runs at that level on PS4 has noticeable drops in frame rate. Hell, even COD Ghosts had trouble in that department, and that is not an impressive looking game in any way.

Secondly, and there's no doubt about this, the X1 is the more difficult to develop for this time around. The PS3 had that distinction last gen, and id say it didn't drop the stigma of being the "inferior console" until Uncharted 2 came out and really showed what it could do when people who knew how to utilize its strengths got the most out of it. Third party games still looked a bit worse 95% of the time, but again, that was less the case as the years went on.

Thirdly, the X1 can do, and will do 1080p at 60fps on a regular basis in the future. People tend to forget that Forza 5, and NBA2K14 run at that resolution already, and the developers of Wolfenstein The New Order have said the X1 will hit that mark, and now the devs of Sniper Elite 3 have come out and said the X1 will run comfortably at 1080p/60fps. The resolution wars are all hyperbole brought on by people who for some dumb ass reason still hold a grudge against MS for their initial X1 message of DRM and 24 hour check ins. Those things are no longer an issue, but trolls sure love to pretend. They also like to pretend the PS4 has even one game on it to justify their purchase.

Im not a PS4 hater. I have every intention of getting one, but wake me up when Sony has a game on the market good enough that it compels me to buy a PS4, cuz right now the whole "Playstation 4 does 1080p at 60fps" is about as much motivation to get one as "blast processing" was with the Sega Genesis. Everbody loves them some Kool-Aid.

Going by what I have seen the past day of Infamous, I think it takes the crown of best looking game from Ryse and it is open world and 1080p while Ryse is not even open and less than 1080p

The past day I have been having an issue when I select watch TV where it acts like it is loading then says it took too long and goes to the home screen. I just tried playing Titanfall and it did the same thing. Between this and the having to do a hard reset every couple days I am getting real tired of this bs

I love my xbox one...if "xbox on" worked as well as "xbox turn off" I would be in heaven.

The difference between 900 and 1080 isn't much now and is being way overplayed as a negative. That you had to get a PS4 because "you just "know" that its better seems of more of a bullet point when 900 and 1080 is so slight in contrast now. Trust your eyes in what you see,not what the PS4 hype is yelling at you each time you log on the internet.

If you walked into a store, saw a monitor with a demo of a 3rd party game, but the hardware and controller were hidden from sight, would you be able to say its being displayed in 900 or 1080?

Or would you "just need to have the PS4 version" because youre being told to? It seems people who scream the loudest over resolution never even realized that KillZone ShadowFall wasn't even displaying a true legit 1080P either until Digital Foundry told us all is really wasn't. It seems that that same game and an alarming number of other PS4 games are already having fluating frme rates in their gameplay just because they had to be dsplayed in 1080....

Thats so much better than X1? Really? So what we have then is a large majority who can't tell if theyre playing in 900 or 1080. Yet what we can infact see is a fluacting frama rate in these PS4 games. Why is it that type of frame rate on the PS4 acceptable, why is it given a free pass or downplayed?

But a game being played in 900 resolution on the X1 is mocked and called out upon? Sounds like a massive double standard going on. Both from the Sony camp and the media (who play this s*** up just to gain viewership by blowing things out of proportion.

I think maybe we should all stop listening to media and the Sony cheerleaders and start trusting our eyes in what we see instead. The people preaching about the difference, well chances are they won't know the difference in resolution either if they saw a game being displayed at a demo station. Killzone Shadowfall proved that a game can look great and its not even 1080P, do people care that it isn't. No because its graphics are sweet, and its sub 1080P,but our eyes tell us different. it just looks great in the end. And have a look at Ryse on the X1,both it and Killzone look gorgous, and both aren't even in 1080P.

if I had both consoles I'd put more attention into the online structure and controller preference over slight differences in game resolution, easily. Both consoles are very similar in the way the games look to our eyes.

No way look at all the faces they don't seem to have pores or any bumps.

Ryse still looks soo real.
What does open world have to do with resolution? All the things happening at once will have affect on it though, I don't care about either game but just saying.

RYSE is not 1080p, wish I had a penny for every time that's been mentioned.......I have seen Infamous running and it's ok, not the glory defying must have app that some are desperately stating it is....

I'd have Titanfall, Forza, RYSE and DR3 over any exclusive on pS4 at the moment

Hmmm....He didn't say Ryse was 1080P. In fact, he said the opposite.

Infamous looks pretty damn good from what I have seen of it.

From that Dualshockers link i'd say faces alone Ryse wins this. Some comments there claim those are FMV parts of the game, but i recall Crytek saying there was no FMV in it. After that The Order comes in and so on and so forth. I AM very impressed with Infamous being an open world game, looking that incredibly crisp and apparently most of the time very smooth too.

I'll bet if Ryse was secretly upgraded to 1080p tomorrow, 98% of us will be unable to spot it.

For sure and that is why i really hope 1080p won't become something that is practically mandatory. If they can bring more effects and details and have it in 900p instead of 1080p, i say go for it!

What is funny is the drop in performance actually doesn't = much. If you change the Res on a PC game from 720p to 1080P the difference is very small with FPS as a performance meter. Doesn't really matter the GPU either. To have more of what you ask it is the FPS that shouldn't be standardized, not the res.

Project spark release date hopefully?

He said that will be something we could never guess, release date is too obvious.
