but you don't need it to be massive. since i got my PS4, just knowing that it runs a game at higher res or at more fps means that all my multi-plats are now on PS4.

I'm not seeing it. Unlike last gen when there was a noticeable difference in third party games. I've played CoD: Ghosts and NBA 2k14 on both and the colors and contrast are better on the Xbox One at the very least. I'd rather have slightly worse textures and a cleaner looking game. Why does everything always have a washed out look on PS consoles? I don't get it.

He said that will be something we could never guess, release date is too obvious.

Could be he's being sarcastic. Impossible to tell through text, but I don't know what else could be big. It's free to play without actually having to pay for stuff?

Free for all xbox one owners now and in the future ;)

Do you have separate video settings for both? I know calibration for the X1 makes a huge difference in visuals but is too dark for my 360. Separate calibration should resolve your washed out image

I don't know. I've played with the settings on my TV and i can never get the PS3 or PS4 versions of multiplats to look as colorful or clear as the 360 or Xbox One versions. It doesn't make sense to me. I just bought a new TV too. Same result as last gen.

Interesting. I remember the screenshots of BF4 on both systems and the baldheaded guy looking very washed out on PS4 and crisp on X1. People afterwards claimed it was only some texture loading, but was it? I have not been able to directly compare both consoles side by side on my own screen, except for AC4 and NFS Rivals videos from Gamersyde. For both games it was PS4 that looked the most clean and smooth. NFS had jaggies on X1, but that could have been that sharpness stuff.

Edited by Plainview: Not a comparison thread. Removed PS4 video.

Could i be that the PS4 uses some type of dithering effect that makes its textures look abit washed out? Or does this look only apply to certain games? Or then again maybe some 3rd parties are using an engine where theres a trade off in resolution for abit more of a refined look(textures.) I use to see this happen on my old PC when i'd play fps games. Higher the res was, the more crisp but abit washed out it looked. Lower it though and you'll get anti aliasing but the games has more color. Still its damn odd and doesn't happen like a pattern at all, because some games in 1080 look very colorful though, such as Infamous. Forza is 1080 but its textures are good but next to other games their abit washed out too. Very odd, startng to think its the engine some of these developers use, because you'll see this look in some games but not others.

It's something the developers do because there is a difference. Most of these games look fine on both consoles but i played the PS4 version of Ghosts first and i thought it looked great. I ended up getting Ghosts for the Xbox One because i like the controller more. Plus Xbox gets DLC first. So i went into it believing the horror stories that the game sucked on the One but i was going to deal with it for the controller preference.

Popped that sh!t in on the Xbox One and was like what? This version is supposedly awful, yet it has better color? Went back and played the PS4 version and my jaw dropped at how washed out it looked. Like i said, they're both fine, i even played a lot of Black Ops on the PS3 and that was clearly washed out. Ghosts isn't as bad but you can still tell. At least i can. Same deal with NBA 2k14 but less noticeable. It just doesn't make sense to me.

HDMI Full or Limited? It should be at limited for most TVs.

And the Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Range to Automatic?

The whole thing has been blown out of proportion TD. When such nonsense escalates they way it has over the past year or so, you get that "shock value" effect when you see things for yourself and judge for yourself. Too much BS floating around. Such a tragedy, really.

Yup, limited and automatic. I don't know, it can't be me. Cause i've been seeing this since last gen. Plus Infamous: Second Son looks amazing. Probably the most colorful game i've ever played. So no problem there. Must just be a handful of multiplats.

Lionhead helping with UE4's... interesting indeed!
That plus Black Tusk also contributing to the engine and you've got some graphical showpieces in the vein of Gears of War :)

I don't know why but I think Black Tusk is the best development studio name I've heard.
If I had a studio it would definitely be called the "lazy dev" for more reasons than one.

What about Pimp Digital, Fanboy Productions, or Secret Sauce Studios? Has anybody taken one of those yet?

What about Donkey D1ck Pro (1 included)? They could make the 3D Platformer movie games. They could sell hats that are in the shape of a donkey with a huge boner.

Anybody else get another OS update this weekend and know what was in it?

Yeah I got it. Not much in it really. Biggest thing was 'silent install'. This means your box will download and install new OS updates, and return itself back to standby mode, rather than you having to cold start it yourself. I presume this means you'll have a message or notification that your system has updated.

Kinect Sports Rivals World Championship announced
Players from around the world to compete for a $10,000 grand prize
The Kinect Sports Rivals Championship, the world's "first ever global motion-sports competition," will begin online from 11th April in the UK, Microsoft has announced.
It'll test the skills from competitors from all around the world on KSR's in-game leaderboards before awarding the ultimate champion with $10,000 in cash and their choice of a trip to one of four sports-themed destinations; there's a water sports adventure in Bora Bora, a chance to walk the Great Wall of China, a trek to Machu Picchu or a holiday spent skiing the Swiss Alps.

To enter - which anyone with an Xbox One and a copy of KSR can do - you'll first need to register here. Then, simply compete in Bowling, Climbing & Wake Racing to achieve the top leaderboard ranking in all three sports before 3rd June to qualify for the semi-finals.
Semi-Finalists will then be flown to San Diego (with $1,000 spending money) to compete in the finals live from SD Comic Con in an elimination style Championship Tournament. The grand prize is $10,000 and that once-in-a-lifetime trip, but second prize gets a not-too-shabby five grand, third place gets $2,500, 4th $1,000, and anyone ranking from 5th-11th gets $500 apiece. Blimey.
Up to the challenge?
