It just now dawned on me that the kinect was the IR blaster but since I still have that hooked up in the computer room I will have to buy the cable version of the IR blaster and plug it into the back of my bedroom xbox to communicate to my cable box and TV

Yes you need that now that its not connected to Kinect. You can buy any off the shelf IR blaster as long as it meets the requirements

What kind of IR extension cable can I use with Xbox One?
Almost any off-the-shelf IR extension cable will work with your Xbox One, as long as it meets the following requirements:

  • It connects using a 3.5mm jack (similar to a pair of standard headphones).
  • It has three or fewer emitters.
  • It is an IR transmitter, not a receiver.
  • The 3.5 mm jack has only two conductors like the image below.

Ori might be my favorite game this generation.

It's like a classic SNES game with Disney quality art but with so much more gameplay mechanics than any of the old school games. It really uses every button on the controller.

Beautiful, challenging, frustrating and fun.

You could try deleting the app and then reinstalling to push the update through.
 
With the new controllers having a mic port. What happens if I get a new controller and try to plug in the headset that came with the system? Where do you plug it in?

Interesting little device...what would be nice is if MS made EVERY Xbox360 able to stream games from the Xbox One as well.

About 30% through Batman, less than that into both Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizons 2....going to hold off before buying any more games. Ori is temping though.
 
Sorry but most of those are still way too expensive. Hardly ultimate.

The games i'm interested in are more expensive with discount than the average price of physical copies.
 
so, thought i'd use some of the £100 i got in Xbox gift cards (birthday money) on this.

went to Xbox UK thinking i'd get Burnout Paradise to use BC on Xbox (£3.74) using said credit only to find out i could only use credit/debit cards and paypal.
anyway, bought the game, but really........... i cant use my Xbox credit on the frigging website, like really?

Hmm I can redeem Xbox Gift Cards on the website. Don't see why the UK site wouldn't allow the same. It should the same spot you can redeem other codes as well.
 
Microsoft has changed the name of Xbox Music and Xbox Video.




Xbox Music has been renamed to Groove, and Xbox Video is now called Movies & TV. Both apps have had their names changed ahead of their Windows 10 launch.

Groove will not bring back the cancelled free, ad-supported version of the app. It will simply change the app’s current name and keep the $9.99 monthly subscription as the only option to access the service.

Xbox One, which is set to get a major UI overhaul in the fall, will undoubtedly follow suit.

As for Movies & TV, the new destination consolidates all previous Xbox Video content into one place.
