I am confused as to how Microsoft can publish a game from a developer that is a subsidiary of Square-Enix. Deals like this happened with the likes of Splinter Cell, yes, but Ubisoft published Conviction and Blacklist. Tomb Raider, on the other hand, we can't even find Square-Enix anywhere. Maybe SE, unsatisfied with the commercial performance of the first game, somehow sold the franchise or the studio to Microsoft? I don't know, but this seems a little bigger than expected.

And to think how SE was "unsatisfied" with the sales performance of TR when it sold 3.4 mil in the first week... Wait until Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris comes out and we might hear something.

It seems to me it the same deal as with Dead Rising 3. Microsoft was listed as the co-publisher of that title. Tomb Raider is an expensive game to make without the gigantic sales Square-Enix was looking for.
Oh yeah. That happened with Dead Rising 3. But if that's the case...
...then why did they bother to fix that? I don't know, one thing is sure, the deal must be pretty complex.

Sounds like timed exclusive. I don't know MS would stress 2015 like that in their conference otherwise.
It's probably a timed a exclusive.They way everything is worded coming 2015, exclusively to Xbox One, makes it sound like it will be PC and PS4 in 2016 sometime.
I remember when I was a Saturn owner that learnt Tomb Raider 2 was SONY only.......I know that salted pain the SDF have.......oh and XBOX has it's Uncharted now for holiday season 2015!
Any time I hear someone stress dates like that I feel the date is important. Otherwise, it's just straight up exclusive. I suppose we'll find out.

Whether it's Destiny or Watch Dogs or Assassins Creed: Black Flag or Titanfall or now Tomb Raider, draining your first party budget/resources to buy up exclusive content or games that would otherwise be multiplatform does nothing but hurts gamers who only own one console and also leads to less original first party content due to less money that Microsoft/Sony now have to work with.

It's MS so people are pissed. I didn't see anyone be this pissed when Souls developer made Bloodbourne exclusive to Sony Playstation 4.

The butthurt from this will be amusing as will any from Sony announcements. There was a lot of butthurt over Destiny and it isnt even ps4 exclusive
I think it has to do more with it going from multiplatform to exclusive. BB is a new IP. If you're a Tomb Raider fan and chose a PS4 last holiday, I think you were assuming Rise would come to PS4. I don't see why you wouldn't think that.
I could've guessed that Kotaku would be the first to say something with a headline like this.
Halo was multiplatform that went exclusive. Those on PC couldn't continue the Halo saga on PC.
