MS buys a game = money hat, dem deep pockets, LOLZ they have to buy exclusivity

Sony buys a game = strategic corporate move, brilliant

that is the tone I am seeing on the net today :)
It is money hatting either way. It is hilarious how everyone tries to act like one sides fans and fanboys are so much more dignified and less whiny then the others.

MS is playing hardball lately! I like it! I cant blame them for signing on deals like this. They've made a bunch of 180's and believe it or not, it doesnt give off a good image. It says that they can be swayed from sticking to their guns. Deals like this, they had to know it would piss some people off, but if they're ever going to get ahead and in their rightful place, they gotta start making decisions and sticking to them no matter how much gamers bitch and moan. Hell, they'll get over it! Its almost seems like they've been avoiding this scenario where they've made some less than favorable decisions with a vision in mind, and having to deal with the repercussions of gamers, while trying to stay strong and just ride out the hate.
Like what happened with DRM and "always online" scenario. They need to just ride it out.

"Only by going too far can one find out how far they can possibly go." Go MS! Damn the haters!

It's exactly what I remember Sony did to the Sega Saturn and N64.

Wikipedia

After the release of the original Tomb Raider, which had debuted on the Sega Saturn platform ahead of the PlayStationversion (they had been developed simultaneously) Sony Computer Entertainment recognised the game's popularity and the potential mass appeal of future Tomb Raider titles. SCE offered Core Design and Eidos Interactive an exclusivity agreement, to ensure that the first sequel would not be developed for either the Saturn or the Nintendo 64. The full terms of this offer have never been revealed. By making the PlayStation the only console with Tomb Raider II, Sony Computer Entertainment was able to benefit by attracting new PlayStation owners leveraging Tomb Raider as a killer application and using Lara Croft as a marketing character alongside Sony's own first party characters. Core Design also had the advantage of developing only for a single console, rather than several at once. This exclusivity agreement was further extended to cover the third game in the series. The fourth and fifth games in the franchise, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles respectively, were also released for the Sega Dreamcast.

So in short..the people that are upset can go cry me a river.

Business is business. I'd also like for every gamer to get everything but USPs are key to this industry. MS recognized the importance of TR in this so they took action, just like Sony did with TR2.

At least you know that there IS an exclusivity business deal in place. Don't get me started on the shenanigans of some of the Japanese companies get away with to this day.

well i got CBOAT from neogaf to somehow reply to me he said it's "TIMED"

just putting this here too

It's been confirmed by crystal as not timed exclusive so it's been cleared up.

We'll see. I think it will also depend on if sales expectations are met. Pissing off close to 10 million PS4 owners isn't a very wise decision.

I'm more of an Xbox fan but what you stated is 100% true. Each side acts exactly the same and I've seen it over and over. Sure if this was announced as a PS4 exclusive I'd be upset but I'd recognize this is the business of gaming consoles. My solution would be to just by a PS4 eventually (which I will be doing probably next year). That's what I did last gen. Got my Xbox 360 first and then after the PS3 was out for about a year got one of those and a bunch of used games that I had admired from afar when they were first released.

Or 85 million ps3 owners or 85 million 360 owners.

Millions of xbox owners are already pissed about 3rd party exclusives and DLC on the PS.

For those that want to believe this is a timed exclusive they can wait for it. I'll have this when it launches. Stop being cheapskates and purchase a X1. Its price has dropped, Kinect is not mandatory, MSFT freed up some power being gobbled up by Kinect. Its got a lot of games out now with more on the horizon. The excuses not to purchase a X1 are getting really thin.

Agreed, it's getting old and it's a very poor argument. Depending on what forums you go to, MS fanboys can be just as bad as Sony's.

Shelling out money to keep content off a competitor's platform is not good for gaming. Period. No matter whether it's Sony or Microsoft that's doing it. No matter how loud one side's fanboys are and quiet the other ones are.

At least MSFT never said they don't pay for exclusives and then had to reverse themselves or that they don't charge for multiplayer and then start charging. Kind of reminds me of another more recent shortsighted statement from Sony concerning EA: Access.

Should at least make it available on PC....

I am not sure its the right move for Square-enix, but its certainly a win for MS. Guess I have to get a X1 over a PS4 then.

BS. If this were a Sony deal, you and Hazard would be shouting from the rooftops! These consoles need exclusives to differentiate themselves from the other. Thats where things are at now. From a business standpoint, can you blame MS? Who could? And who cares if Sony fanboys are pissed off at the deal. I think its funny. There are whole forums with Sony fanboys frothing at the mouth over this. Thats how you know it makes sense. :D

What lottery numbers should I play tonight?

I am not going to speak on behalf of Titan, as I don't know him that well. But Hazard is the furthest thing from a Sony worshiper. Hazard and I go WAY THE @#$ back and it's all Xbox history.

He may have a preferred platform, be it Xbox or PS (like me), but don't label him as a Sony lap dog.

In fact, pointing out names and giving them labels is pretty immature...

I dont care if its perceived as immature. Thats where your opinion and mine differ. I see things the way I see them. I wasnt saying that he was a lap dog though. I was speaking in general. I personally wouldnt label Titan as a Sony lap dog. He and I dont usually agree, but I wouldnt call him that. Thats the truth.

You were calling him Sony biased with this comment:

No?

That is the funny thing about these pissing off PS4 fans argument. The market was over 100 million when they released the last Tomb Raider game, and it sold six million units over a year stretch. The sequel was going to sell to fewer people anyway due to the much smaller userbase of the Xbox One and the PS4.
