Lol Gaf is like a bunch of 12 year fat girls picking on the hot poor girl,who comes back to HS reunion with the hottest guy,best job and looks better than ever,and isn't at fat tube of lard, who's husband only has sex with them when he to drunk to remember he's married to a fat POS. ffffff them!!!!! half of what they like I hate like Japanese RPG's,etc etc.They hate on games like Gears and Halo and praise games that seem shallow and atmostphere less comparitively. I stopped going there for most part and have been enjoying this hobby a great deal more.

Increasing the contrast doesn't make textures better.

That was my thought, too. His earlier confirmation unintentionally created some poor press for MS. He has a big, lucrative corporate relationship to protect there. So, I agree -- he is making a good explanation, but I think he is also being very careful to avoid saying anything that makes it sound as if the X1 hardware is at fault somehow.
Meh. As long as it runs fun then it's all good. Graphics are obviously gonna get better and better. If they were able to do as much as they did with the last two consoles, then we'll all be eating dinosaur eggs.
He used all those words to explain it when it would have been much easier and gained him much more respect if he had just said "because we're lazy and bad at our jobs".

I completely agree with him, it's a long race. Game's are going to look better and play better in the long run with developers getting more and more time with each machine. It does sound though like it's a little tricker to work with the X1.
You think he would've garnered more respect had he said "We're lazy and we suck"? lol.
I'd love for a developer to say that. Just once. "Why were there problems with your game?" "Well, you know, our team is pretty lazy and not very talented or bright."
For people expecting next gen console titles to outshine the PC port of the same game, just don't. If you already have a capable PC, then just get the game on PC if you are worried about not having max settings. No console has ever outshined PC when it comes to games offered both on PC and console because the PC port will always have more options and settings unlocked. And meanwhile, the rest like me without a super computer will simply game on our next gen console platform of choice.
Watched the IGN video. The XO version of BF4 is upscaled to 1080p on your TV screen. What else needs to be said on the matter? So while playing the game on your PS4 or XO your still seeing the picture at 1080p resolution. So ultimately.............we have numersous threads on how 1080p is accomplished on these consoles?!? That's what all this crap is about?! Not to mention the textures look much better on the XO, but I digress....

Did you see "nicer textures" in quotes? I was sarcastically referring to other people claiming the contrast ratio makes the textures "better". I've already said many times the contrast ratio is a cheap trick. Reading comprehension, anyone?
So some of you hate gaf posters for justifiably calling Penello, Hyrb, and Leadbetter deceptive PR jockeys, and for disliking the console/games you like? Okay.
Meanwhile it's "sony lies and FUD" that have been saturating forums and social media, not Penello, Hyrb, and Leadbetter's PR bunk and falsehoods, right? Maybe if they had focused on exclusive games and features instead of fighting a losing specs war, there wouldn't be so much criticism of them.
The BF4 XB1 textures aren't any larger or more detailed than PS4. Cherry picking a frame where a texture hasn't fully loaded in yet is definitely something Leadbetter would do.

Give it up....it's not even a "trick". I understood what you meant, and yet.....you're still wrong.
Adjusting contrast isn't a cheap trick, if anything, too much contrast makes the image worse as different shades of blacks or whites become one.
