X1 and PS4 games: January to May

Yup, those reviews are skewed. The Xbox One has the better rated games. Ask anyone.

Nah. They don't. And it seems the coming months show PS4's game library will just continue to grow. Sony wasn't kidding when they said they have over 100 games coming in 2014.

To be fair, they are looking better than most the retail games we have gotten to this point in "some ways"

I'd sort of rather play octodad than watch dogs (potentially) I mean. Some of the best titles have ended up small or digital only imo "rain, last swan, flower, rc motorstorm" was pretty good too. A lot of them have that old school feel, where some newer games just have that corridor feel

So, I'd have to take the PS4's chanes and line up here.

There are some good looking indie titles coming to be sure, the witness and below are two that are high on my list, but quality indie games are few and far between. Most on this list I would predict end up being crap, same goes for a lot of those announced games from the ID@xbox program.

Do you not think it's funny that in these sort of lists last gen, downloadable games weren't included but this gen they are?

That isn't a surpirse or anything. Digital only development has ramped up quite a bit. We all know that, we shouldn't even try to compare that to today's market where titles like Daytona USA HD etc are download only. We now get full and sometimes longer better games as download or digital only.

We can't compare it this way, if that is your meaning. if not, then I don't know. It matters now, the downloadable games are no longer like this

I think the idea is that PS4 will have both, there is nothing that says it won't. And there is reason to worry on that flip side for MS because of that photo as well. It does have merrit, as I have gamed heavily on both consoles, probably 360 more because of my Halo and 3rd party preference, but I can't really disagree with that photo you are showing. So many games I enjoy playing on ps3 that don't end up on 360. I'd rather play yakuza, maybe ratchet more than, tlou, gears.

Now, don't get bent out of shape, I'm not saying they won't or will have the games. I'm not saying either, I just think fromt heir past I need to play wait and see

I think downloadable games have came a long way, but I also feel MS didn't always give me the expeirence I enjoy on the d/l side either. I prefer games like Stranger's wrath and what not, it's hard for me to like some of the games, even journey actualy. i enjoyed it, but wanted more I guess. I do think PSN had the stuff I want more on PSN (Fan of light gun games etc) but for the most part they had the same downloadables besides exclusives.

Someone would do well to make a new comparison pic with all the japanese games hitting ps3 lately. I only want it to remember what games I need to play lol

Thought it was stupid last gen when fanboys tried to exclude arcade , indie titles and just as stupid this gen no matter the system. If you don't care for indie titles that is fine but plenty do. This isn't aimed at you Menace.

Thats nice Anderson. But Indie's are cool fillers. People want the meat and potatoes of the gaming industry to chew on. Not to mention indie titles have a higher percentage of being garbage, compared to high profile multi platform games or exclusives. Why so many people continuously pretend that indies have suddenly graduated from mostly garbage to worthy content from literally, last gen to this one--its crazy! Typically, it takes quite a while to find that diamond in the rough amongst a pile of mediocre, over-priced shovel ware. JS

Well the PS4 has not only more downloadable games it also has more disc-based games, too. That's a fact--feel free to count them up. Now if you cherry pick which games you want and only count those, that's fine, but objectively PS4 has more downloadable games, more disc-based games, and more highly rated games and it looks like that gap will widen the next couple of months.

To be fair, indie games were a fairly new concept to console gamers last gen. This gen is different because a lot of gamers have come to appreciate what quality indie games offer. For many, indie games were their favourite or some of their favourite games last gen. I myself hold Trials HD up as one of the games of the generation, and I'm not even a big indie game fan.

Who specifically are you talking about? By the way if that is happening than that means both "sides" are being hypocritical, because you have to admit there are fans of Microsoft now who don't count downloadable titles as real games, and I'm sure at least some of them last gen played the opposite role. I'm sure it's a two way street and therefore not really worth mentioning. You can sum it up by saying "fanboys will be fanboys."

Looks like Sony has a good head start with the DL/Indie games. Once ID@Xbox gets going the release list will look much more balance as Microsoft will have filler titles as well. This generation we're going to start seeing numbers thrown around just to throw them around. It's going to be like Apple and Android app stores. We'll start hearing "We've hit out 1000th indie game" but in reality only 10% are worth a damn, if that. I'm looking at you Fart app.

Honestly, I am sitting here trying to figure out why it even matters. What does matter is we have a lot of games coming, both AAA and indie. Some will be crap, some good, some will be amazing.

Almost as funny as when 3D games were listed in the PSX's favor when they weren't listed at all the prior generation.

Things change, DD games have grown and become far more popular.

GGG - indie - Path of Exile, competes just fine with Diablo 3
I have quite a few indie titles that are every bit as good (and even better than some) as AAA bloated budget titles. Just because a stuido doesn't know how to manage their resources well enough to keep a $40 game from costing $60 does NOT make it a better game.

But please, let's keep pretending indies don't matter whilst simultaneously praising kinect because that's not hypocritical at all.

Honestly, I am sitting here trying to figure out why it even matters.

Menace, that could be said in any thread that discusses game sales, console sales, and exclusives and compares how many on each. Yet those are the most popular, fastest growing threads on the forums. If it didn't matter, then people wouldn't post in those threads.

It's a hobby, and people have a passion about their games and the hardware that it plays on. It's just discussion. It won't impact our life in any meaningful way, but it sure as f*** my makes my work day fly by
