Xbox General Discussion 2K24

Yeah that what I was asking. Wouldn't it just be a PC console box if it's Windows on with the Xbox app.
More like a cell phone, all the parts are in the board. The Xbox already runs its own version of windows, again like Apple with iOS and iPad os. But the Xbox has three OSs, another runs the apps in the bg/quick resume, whilst the other links the two.

My guess it’ll run the egs and Steam stores via apps, like on pc.

Thoughts?
Nope. Let them freaking do some research and figure it out. It's like standing behind them as their discussing ideas and saying "I wouldn't do that.". If they f*** up, I'm sure there are plenty ready to give them sh**.

My take:

- A console that plays both Steam and Xbox games is an automatic purchase for many. This would lead to a major increase in console sales and could lead to some Sony games being accessible on Xbox day and date or shortly thereafter (via the Steam PC version).

- First party Xbox games could just go straight to PC with no console version as the console and the PC would no longer discernible from an operating standpoint. The Xbox would be the Windows based version of the Steam Machine.

- First party game margins would diminish if purchased through Steam, as would third party game margins (though MS would still get a small cut for games purchased on Steam via the next Xbox). They would have to offset this by increased GP subscriptions and sale volume.

I see his concerns. Frankly, if I only had a Xbox console, I would may be a little anxious too with the recent moves with what Jez said " why buy an Xbox for just Xbox games when I can buy a PlayStation for PlayStation AND Xbox games"

Xbox going full PC mode definitely benefits me as I get access to all their exclusives in the PC platform without having to pay extra for the console. Gamepass before with the loopholes and cheap 3 years subscriptions were well worth but with the costs quickly rising for new subscriptions or if I want to continue beyond 2026, it is going to be a tougher sell as the time for gaming has already went down significantly for me so don't know if it would be worth getting access to all subscriptions. Maybe I will just stick with buy and sell the narrative one and done story games and play all multiplayer on PC even if that means paying up for them digitally.

I can see why MS is changing Xbox slowly to "Microsoft Gaming", it keeping the games exclusive would just hinder their revenue growth and their current strategy wasn't working clearly. I commend them for adapting to this.

Xbox already Is a windows based platform, just like iPhones/iPads are a Mac OS based platforms.

There may be licensing issues tho. Third parties might have some deal with another platform and just deny their game being accessible, like Steam does through NVIDIA shield.

My guess is if new stores show up on Xbox they’ll be apps through the Xbox store, like disney+, Apple+/music or vudo and Amazon.

Xbox would still get Xbox based games as it would be a standardized and probably optimal version. And casuals would never know unless told, be it through someone they know or maybe an ad.

Nah, people aren’t buying most Xbox games on PlayStation. The only one they’re interested, especially Sony, is COD, and they’re happy with their ten year contract of that alone. I think Nintendo got the better deal though

I contemplated hifi rush but I have it on Gamepass already so I was like nvm 😛

See, another sell lost 😞 as it’s also on steam

Where on your list is it to play next?

Ff7 rebirth need to finish that first and foremost with the platinum hunt. Then I don't know yet which game to play next. I already have dead space remake, hifi rush, diablo 4 preloaded on Gamepass PC , Need to finish Alan Wake 2 as well from the twitter giveaway I won... then on PS, I have Baldur's Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy to finish. Plus interested in Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade and Granblue fantasy relink, unicorn overlord , forspoken.... Also Callisto protocol, house of ashes , Nier replicant, saints row remake, plague tale requiem, Kena, Sifu, strangers of paradise FF origins, Immortals of Aveum, Resistance retribution , Gotham knights, star ocean divine force , immortals fenyx rising, NBA 2K24 from PS plus. Probably missing others. To be honest, probably might be playing some of these on the Pro before the year is over lol

Right, I when I said "windows based" it's because Steam Machine was Linux based I believe.
