And again, Lockhart is meant to take the place of the 1X. Moving forward, this will be cheaper to manufacture. It will be what the S is now. They will just stop making the S and X altogether, eventually.
The all-digital S apparently had very strong numbers this holiday, so while your post may apply to the hardcore gamer, that’s not what Lockhart is targeting.
And again, those are RDNA2 Tflops. It will be close to an X1X in performance when it’s all said and done.
2 SKUs, one for the serious gamer, one for the casual. There is a big enough market for both. Sony is just playing it right down the middle. The outcome will be interesting.
