When asked about joining XGS Mahler in febuary said on Era, he doesn't want to be aqcuired by MS and wants to stay independent.

So this is still confusing to me.

I think they are independent but under a contract with MS to make 1st party games. That's the best I can come up with.

If they aren't owned by MS they are not first party. This would be a second party situation.

I do agree with MS approach to extra storage. Expandable ssd card are a better option imo than expandable nvme installation via ps5. A 1 TB Nvme 4.0 ssd might end up costing about a 1/3 the cost of the entire system. And 2TB will be really pricey.

Pachter is pretty awful at gaming insight. Haven't figured out why the dude is still popular all these years later. He's not a good analyst. Just an analyst who happens to like gaming. If he says something, it's pretty reat assured it's not going to happen.

Current gen racing games look barren in comparison to this and the effects look a lot more lifelike. It's a much fuller and lifelike picture.

If the Series X comes in at $399 USD, I'll eat a hat. No freaking way MS takes that kind of loss on a console. $499 is more believable.

On a side note:
Are we due for a price change in games? At least in the US games have been 59.99 for more than 10 years. Seems like we're due for a price increase.

can we choose the hat, and would you stream it?

would you cook it or eat it raw, maybe in a roll? Oh oh oh, tempura hat?

With games being distributed digitally, that removes a very large cost. Digital seems to drop prices, not increase them. They are making the difference through micro transactions and dlc

I choose the hat, no streams. It would be eaten with raw with ketchup as tradition with all hat eating.

I agree they are making up the difference with micro transactions. Most definitely.
I would argue that digital, in the console space, has not caused prices to drop. Many games at least this past generation have been cheaper in the long run to get physical copies of than digital. Case in point, I can get a physical copy of Doom Eternal for 39.99 USD but digitally on the xbox store its 44.99. Same with Jedi Fallen order. Physical copies are 34.99 while digital ones on the xbox store are full retail price, 59.99. We're not even going to mention Nintendo digital prices, which get discounted far less less than their physical copies do and the physical copies only see discounts once in a blue moon.

Digital in the PC space is a whole different animal. Prices never stay at MSRP.

The only thing I might agree with is the "pop" is more pronounced in the dirt 5 video, but it looks like they just upped the vibrant filter.
Also, FH4 being open world.

I just created a list for the future that games that runs @ 60 fps and 30 fps (S#it List) so people should know what to buy and not to buy.

The next gen will be powerful, but all of the chatter about performance reminds me of when the One X was announced. We had the exact same discussion back then. Not every game will have a minimum of 60fps on the Series X. Some games will allocate the power towards visual effects and/or resolution in lieu of fps. And the vice versa is also true. It comes down to the developers' choices.

Reading the tweet history, he doesn't say 1st party games. It looks like a general statement from Greenburg. MS needs to close his Twitter account and put a gag ball in his mouth.

Yep. Microsoft messaging was on point. They let Greenberg come into the game from off the end of the bench and the dude starts shooting air balls. Time to go back to the bench.
