Microsoft may have a truckload of money, but Xbox is one of their smaller businesses, to take such a rumored 3 billion loss is a bit skeptical but it wouldn't be too surprising, it will be cheaper then PS5, but that price is pretty insane.
Lol, yeah a smaller business that brings in billions in revenue.

I don't buy it at all. Way too cheap.

I'm not buying either. Think when these types of rumors catch fire, they lead to disappointment where there shouldn't be any. After thinking about it, I could justify some reality where Microsoft was willing to lose billions of dollars to gain mindshare. Problem with that theory is neither of these consoles will be able to out-ship demand this year. In Microsoft's case, they need to stock Azure by 2021 with Series X APUs so that's another challenge to supply. Why take such major losses when you can't meet demand anyways? 2021 holiday season if stock is good, all bets are off.

Xbox is small potatoes at Microsoft. Nadella and many of Microsoft's investors weren't interested in staying in gaming if it were to stay a small business. The restructure signaled they were treating it as a big business opportunity so I wouldn't bet against anything strictly due to the price tag. Mindshare and marketshare growth rate is far more important than margin right now. The challenge I see with these potential prices is that they'd be taking losses that aren't going to drive more marketshare in the short term. Seems to make more sense to drop prices when supply is at a surplus which would also allows yields costs and cost to come down a little. The counter argument to that is the benefit of having prices so low from the start is to have consistent messaging.

Here's a round up combining rumors and confirmations for the 1st party studios for July:
- 343 - Halo Infinite
- The Initiative - Perfect Dark re-imagining
- Coalition - helping on PD multiplayer
- Playground - Fable re-imagining
- Obsidian - Skyrim-like RPG using existing IP (possibly Pillars)
- Ninja Theory - Hellblade 2
- Turn 10 - Forza Motorsport
- Compulsion - New IP - narrative driven horror
- Rare - Everwild (rumors are mixed but lean towards gameplay reveal now)
- InXile - won't show their AAA game since it's early
- Double Fine - Psychonauts 2

In addition, there will be games from Microsoft publishing, partnerships and potentially another studio purchase announcement. Taking these later possibilities out of the equation, if you found out the above rumors were true, how would that impact your feelings about the direction of 1st party now?

- More optimisitic/positive
- No change in feelings/wait and see
- More pessimistic/negative

Just taking the temperature of this forum as it stands today. Will be curious to see how temperature compares to how everyone feels after July event.

For me, no change in feelings. I've been optimistic about the talent from the get and don't care whether the IP has been used in the past or not. What matters is a combination of quality, innovation and evolution of the games. What say you?

Disclaimer: Realize I may have been off base in previous comments and Xbox fans could be upset about lack of new IP in July. Even though it's anecdotal, will be interested to see where this forum stands.

No change for me. I am familiar with those rumors besides Coalition. I like what I am seeing. But I am realllllllllly good at not getting my hopes up anymore. That is why I was able to tolerate the PS5 show and the MS third party show. Both were meh and I expected meh.

I was at E3 FanFest in 2018, and he seemed pretty buddy-buddy with Greenburg. I think he probably gets some info from time to time before the public.

I do agree that Xbox people like to talk to the most hardcore and obnoxious fanboys on twitter for some reason but they aren't slipping them info. He knows nothing.

I think a lot of insiders lost their pipeline when Ybarra and some of his people left. While correlation doesn't equal causation, seems like the leaks dried up quickly after that.

I think they know where they’d like it to be but as Phil Spencer said they’re flexible when it comes to the price so I think they’re waiting for Sony to announce then undercut them.
For sure, but they know the price range they can work with. I don't think they will undercut them. I think they just want to match them. Same price, more powerful, game pass, Xcloud. Lockhart at a far lower price point. If theycan show some great exclusives aswell then they will have given themselves tge best start they can.

No change. Still pretty much the same old stuff.

All I can hope for is that T10 pull their head out their asses and make Forza 8 great.

What I now think Lockhart might actually do:

* Play Xbox One games natively

* Play Series X games at either a lower resolution, OR get an xCloud upgrade (utilizing the new Series X blades) . This would require a Gamepass subscription.

At 4TF, Lockhart would still be processing [at least] 1/3 of the necessary data. Could this make responsive 4K cloud gaming possible? We know that Microsoft has talked about hybrid processing before... Just a theory, and it lines up with that leak pretty well.

What do you think they could do to improve it? I never played 6 or 7 so I’m out of the loop.
Alot.

Make it more sim like it was before.
Make the leagues actually representative of motorsport championships.
Get rid of all the dumb, out of place vehicles.
Simplify the lobby menus to.
Add a license and penalty system.
Add pit crews and animation.
Blance the PI system.
Make the campaign more representative of motorsport.
Add more new tracks. Both real world and fantasy.
Change the DLC model to include more tracks.
Fix the dumb track voting system.

There are some things they need to do.

Sounds like they’ve got their work cut out for them. They should be able to go down a more sim route as Horizon has got the fun factor and easy accessibility covered. Considering they must have most of the biggest/best tracks in the world in their digital database there should be tons of tracks available unless it’s a license issue idk.

Licenseing is always an issue, but other games seem to manage just fine.

They do have their work cut out. No idea if they are even capable of making a great Forza Motorsport anymore.

It better do the first. I don't think making Xcloud and a gamepass sub maandatory would go down to well.

Not mandatory, in my example. Just mandatory to get higher resolution version, because you are always streaming assets in order to get closer to Series X performance version.
