Since I mentioned Series S, it's going to get really interesting when developers get to upscale a nearly indistinguishable 4K/60 image from a $300 machine!

I would also expect some existing games to patch this tech into their 120fps performance modes, for a virtually indistinguishable 4K/120 mode.

I am verrrry skeptical of XSS getting those types of results.

Seriously, I'm not sure why there should be any doubt when it has the same cores available for AI/ML as Series X, to my knowledge. If it's doing 1440p now, seems like a simple option, once that feature is finally implemented. If this wasn't already being done on Nvidia cards, I'd be skeptical. Like I said, there's plenty of videos of that, plus I know that Microsoft Research has released a video of Forza Horizon AI/ML upscaling.

6 and 12GB of ram.
4TF's and 10 GB's isn't doing ML 4K/60 on a modern game.
I'm really not sure about the RAM, but the TF shouldn't matter for ML, since that is done on dedicated core(s), right? If the whole point is to save GPU overhead (TF), then how can the answer be "needs more TF"?

Edit: I could definitely be wrong on this. Just spitballing. I assume the performance has to come from somewhere, so not sure what MS has allotted for ML. Just trying to understand how this performance savings is applied. Doesn't seem to be best to borrow from obvious performance to get to the same point.

4TF's matters.
If you said fake 1440p/60 current gen I'm with you.

It does. I would have preferred 6TF too, btw. And I clarified the above to state that performance has to come from somewhere.

Just saying... Considering that there's already 1440p/60 games that are non-VRS 2.0 on Series S, I'm just assuming that there's a pocket left for ML.... If nothing else, 1080p native can even be put through ML to upscale to get closer looking to 4K than raw 1440p would be, given what I've seen of DLSS. Still, I don't think this is impossible to see 1440p to 4K ML upscale, as long as it can actually work alongside VRS 2.0 itself. I would think the bigger question is can those 2 functions work together? If so, seems like there will be rather huge performance gains all around.

Edit: that Twitter user that posted this is claiming that unlike DirectML is fixed to 2X resolution upscale, so forget the Series S dropping to 1080p thing. This wouldn't make sense except maybe for 1440p/120 upscale.

WUT? I'm not sure because I don't have a Series S, but everywhere I've been searching, I see either 1440p/30, 1080p/60, or 1440p/60... mainly. Please don't make me keep searching. I'm not really that into Series S enough to make this point. I have a real console. 😆

This is a great video on DLSS 2.0. I know that DLSS 2.0 =/= DirectML, so don't think I'm saying that this is the same thing. This is NOT a brief video! You'll notice that this starts talking about DLSS then DLSS "1.9" in Control, and it doesn't actually get into DLSS 2.0 until about half way through, but once you watch it, I think you'll understand why this type of technology is extremely promising, if not VITAL for the future!

I predict Xbox will surpass PlayStation in revenue within two years unless Sony gets serious about expanding first party to PC and turning PS Now into an actual competitor. Xbox is just getting going between their studios, subscription revenue on PC and consoles and day and date first party releases on PC.

I love my XSS. Small, quiet, cheap, obvious upgrade in visuals over the X1. My only issue with it is the color, why couldn't it be black.
I tease about it, but I also kinda find it to be a marvel.

I've said this way back when, but I think there's a roadmap to shrinking that thing way down on the next revision to a point where it's like either a tablet or built into a TV. It's already so small, and no HDD or optical drive makes it even more shrinkable (and price-drop-able) than normal console revisions we've seen. Some continue to say that the S was shortsighted, but I'm more curious to see how they envision it playing out in the long-term.

People saying it is short sighted are just playing ignorant. Sure, hardcore gamers like me will upgrade to the XSX/mid gen refresh at some point. But, most gamers would be happy with the XSS + gamepass for this whole gen.

As for shrinking, no idea how small it could get, but as a home console it doesn't need to shrink at all.

I download it but still haven't picked up the controller for that one. Is split screen necessary to play or like an option instead of flipping back and forth between universes?
I’ve just started. But it’s necessary.
like there will be obstacles in the real world or in the spirit world and you have to figure out how to advance.
But there are segments where you’re just in the real world Full screen. And segments where you can have out of body experiences where you’ll be full screen in the spirit world for a limited time.

I really like the small but notable improvements on the new controller, the grips on the sides, thumbsticks and triggers, it feels more hefty, the flush bumpers and home screen button. It just looks and feels so much better then the X1 controller, I sort of got thrown off guard by the USB-C connection but that's fine no biggie.

I just downloaded skyrim again since I found a cool mod list on reddit (uncapped frame rate which I'm not sure what it runs at but is a ton smoother, improved visuals and everything else) and it's a totally different game, the load times are insanely quick like 2-5 seconds which is a huge difference.
