XSX is not hitting 4k also. Since devs are embracing checkerboarding at the expense of resolution then it makes sense the XSS will not hit 1080p. The fact is if you don’t have a 4k set and don’t plan on getting one then the XSS is the better option. Don’t discount the form factor also. It’s easy to live with and you pack it up and travel.
I can tell you right now that all cross gen games I played on X1 and SS are obviously better on the SS.
People can talk s*** about the SS all they want, but what is the XSX doing that is any better? Same res with upped performance on last gen games. The way you lot talk about the SS you would think XSX is running last gen games at 8k.
It’s nice hardware. I just wish MS wouldn’t have cheaped out on the GPU.

People get hung up too much on numbers. I mean, you're really arguing over 180P? Come on man. You only know that difference exists because intentionally nit-picky videos from DF and alike.
I have one. I know it provides a big improvement over base last gen skus. From the dramatic sub surface scattering on FIFA 21 player skin, to the small bubble effect when playing West Ham at home. To the amazing single strand hair tech on some star players.
And next gen hasn't even started yet.

Performance wise the SS has been perfect. Haven't noticed a single frame drop yet.
I'm seeing the SS going between 1080p and 1440p in a couple of years when the dev tools mature and perhaps that machine learning thingy goes off.
Honestly, that would be a perfect machine for my guesthouse.... Only problem will be the kinect that goes into my One X atm.... How could I live without the bowling game and just dance when friends bring the families over.

I was one who did expect more of the same with just some added power here and there for things like Ray Tracing, and 60fps while Native 4k resolution is sacrificed in favor of 1440p/1080p... Newer games will improve on detail over last Gen in the coming years though
I do believe the gap will grow between the XSX and the XSS as Developers tap into the XSX tech more... Most games showing now are just last Gen ports, and are not optimized to utilize the improved XSX tech. We can't really judge the XSX added power not showing up in the games we have now so early in this new Gen... They haven't been developed from the ground up to take advantage of that added power yet.
Yeah like FLOPs... I remember telling people that Developer talent is far more important than FLOPs.
I also believe Sony's Devs proved it the last two Gens
Not that I'm aware, I had mine since the One S when they gave them away free if you upgraded from the vanilla console. Still bummed out that they don't work with the new consoles.

You can't judge the XSS either, it has the exact same tech as the XSX, just less power. Most of which isn't needed for the lower res it targets.
I wouldn't say the same tech... GB of RAM, and GPU CUs is apart of that tech, and there is a big difference in what both offer
I highly doubt the XSX advantages have been utilized
It will grow as games are already using lower details and some like Destiny 2 don't have a 120 fps option.
As actual next gen releases release this will worsen unless they stay at 1080p~900p.

Flops is a therotical number derived by a singular data point. In the real world the number is largely irrelevant.
You know that second sentence makes no sense, right.
It is the same. XSX has more ram for higher res textures. The CUs are proportional to power. As I said, same tech, just less power.
More RAM can be used for more than just higher Res textures
