a couple of results.
The summary: SSD aren't worth the extra cost. But any decent usb 3 powered HDD will do fine .

Your link is not working, but I think that this is the post

About 20 second improvement on something that takes 60 seconds to load is huge improvement.

And this one also
hGRCKER.png

These two combined posts are seeing improvements of about 25%, the only difference they have is that they used 3.5", raid 0, different memory controller (possibly, and external power vs eurogamer not using external power.

Now the price of raid 0 setup is no cheaper than SSD which makes it a bad choice, two decent 5400 drives $80 each and about $60-$70 for decent enclosure with good memory controller gets you at about $220 price tag. With it being two drives then your seek time would also double, transfer rate would probably be similar as SSHD performs about same as 10000 rpm drive. SSHD would have faster seek time (for in game texture loading) and cost $115 for drive and $20 for dock.

Whole point I was making is performance per $ and calling it best. Also most external drives that you buy are pretty slow 5400 single drives.

okay, i agree then. price and performance for hdd's doesn't match.

I got a very expensive 1 TB ssd disc, the Samsung 840 EVO SSD - 1TB in an expensive enclosure, the price is 6 x a good quality hdd, but the loading times are only 25% faster.

I also got a Seagate backup plus fast 4 tb - it's a raid 0 with 2 x 5400 rpm disc, usb powered, and still cheaper than a ssd disc. but holds 4 times the data. and it's exactly as fast as the set up in the test at Xbox forums: the RAID 0 2 x 4TB (7.2TB total) west dig black drives (new model) in an StarTech RAID (external powered) enclosure .

so, if money doesn't matter, go for ssd disc. most bang for the buck is imho Seagate backup plus fast 4 tb . (it's usb3 powered, but the external powered aren't any faster)

but any decent external usb3 drive will do fine.

game on

does it matter which USB you plug the HDD in? some say only the one on the side is USB 3.0 but some say all of them are USB 3.0. i guess it wouldnt work at all if the ones at the back werent USB 3.0?

Maybe it's just me, but the site has changed for me and when i scroll up and down, it lags baaaaad. Can i disable this weird background on UVGF?

I also predict crazy deals for consumers, some time between Nov 26th and Jan 1.

Wait to buy a one.

Dude. You gotta stop using those old batteries from old TV remotes, DVD remotes, a. c. Remotes..... And if you play Operation as much as I do, those won't work either. They gotta be Duracell's.... Fresh from the pack! You gotta smell em, love em, caress em, tell em how much you care..... After that, you won't need to change batteries for at least a week!

Lol were it so easy. Still haven't sent my s*** in for repair. f***ing procrastination.

It doesn't matter the batteries, they all die in about a day no matter the brand. It's either the controller or the console. And from what I heard, it's the console.
Brand was not really the concern. I was just thinking that the rumble aspect of controllers is the single biggest power drain, and the X1 has 2 extra motors. So I was thinking maybe your batteries are too low power to sustain longevity. I mean a 2400mAh rated battery will last longer than an 1800mAh rated battery.

Do you have a kinect? Doesnt it have a feature where it will turn you controller off when you aren't holding it, or is that a controller thing. All I know is my batteries last friggin forever( no matter what kind ive used), but I have a kinect.

I agree. I think I have charged my official MS battery like 3 or 4 times since last November.

That is very odd, cause batteries for my controller really don't last too long either, and even the play and charge kit one really doesnt last all that long until it needs recharging again. I ALWAYS turn the controller off when not using it.

Maybe the battery lasts longer if you use a Kinect as it turns your pad off or puts it in low power state when it sees you've put the controller down.

I put my through what I would consider pretty extreme use and usually need to charge the battery pack every couple of days. I plug mine in and let it charge when I'm at work though, so I don't ever run into an issue of it dying on me while playing.

The Division Tech. Director: DirectX 12 Will Improve Performance & Visuals Of Xbox One/PC Games

From article:

"GamingBolt recently got a chance to interview several developers from Ubisoft Massive. The team is currently working on this generation’s most anticipated title, Tom Clancy’s The Division. Given that Ubisoft Massive have their roots in PC gaming, we asked their thoughts about DirectX 12 and whether they it will bring a massive change for PC and Xbox One games development.

“DirectX 12 brings PC and Xbox development closer, which makes development easier and faster, allowing us to focus more on features,” Anders Holmquist, who is the Technical Director of The Division said to GamingBolt. He also revealed that it will improve the performance and visual quality even further. “It also lets us work closer to “the metal”, the actual hardware, which means we can push performance and visual quality even more.”

Tom Clancy’s The Division is due for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2015. Given that DirectX 12 releases in late 2015, it will be interesting to see if the developers will use the API in the Xbox One and PC version of The Division. If the game launches before the API is available, they can possibly release a DX12 patch for the same however this is an assumption on our part"

I literally use mine everyday and have only charged it 3 or 4 times since last November. I do have Kinect running though. That might help?

So we should expect to see some form of parity then between the 4 and the 1?

I guess that must be it man, cause what you say sounds incredible. I wish i had that too.

Anyway....

How long does it usually take for the battery to be fully charged with the P&C kit? The last days it took like two hours to fully charge, i'd see the white light on the charge cable but now after 3 or 4 hours the light stays orange. I have been extensively playing Destiny while it was charging though, but yesterday i was playing games too....so what the hell? I swear...if this thing is already dying on me, i will never buy a P&C kit again. So many died on me with 360.

A friend of mine said...if you play a game while it is charging it is going to take longer, makes sense...except that it is tsking much much longer than yesterday. :(

I usually play till it's about to die, then plug in the USB and use it that way till it's done recharging.

I also have Kinect but that seems....well impossible if you actually play games. I play around 10 hours a week on average and have to charge mine around every 2 weeks or so. I'd estimate around 20-25 hours per charge (play and charge kit). This is a bit better than the 360 in my experience as that was maybe 15 or so per charge.
