I could care less about the power of each machine. It's the games that I care about. What I'll likely do is buy both but several months apart. Hell Halo 5 doesn't even have a release date.

Seems pretty obvious since you plan to get both any way. Halo MCC hits November, and Bloodbourne in February. Get the X1 now and the PS4 as early as you can.

Also go into network settings, advanced then do mac address clone and then you should see an option to reset network settings if you do that it could help.

In your router you should have an option called DMZ which exposes all ports for a specific ip. Or there should be an option to select a device and have all the ports opened to it.

Also make sure to clear all the port forwarded things if doing dmz or selecting device to be exposed. Know that only one ip can have one specific port open, you can't forward port 80 to eg. 192.168.1.101 and to 192.168.1.103

This is why people love Linksys as it makes all these things very simple and easy to do
Its strange you can't port forward port 80, have you checked if there is already a rule for this port? Here is a guide for your router

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Davolink/DV-2020/Xbox_One.htm

The error i get is:

Since port 80 is used, the DSL WEB server port will be moved to 8080.

Tomorrow i am going to call my ISP and ask if they can provide me with a modem router that supports UPNP. That would solve a lot of things. But if not..i hope another modem with router or modem router CAN open port 80.

Either way...i've been using Xbox One all day, i was in party chat and no problems at all. And it was moderate.

I'm now a month in with the Xbox One and this thing has really exceeded expectations. That's saying a lot considering that I don't have a Kinect for voice commands, none of my favorite franchises have gone next gen yet and I don't have cable to take advantage of some of this things features.

Going all digital helps the experience immensely. Hoping around between games and apps is so smooth. Fact that you can back out of a game, mess around with apps and then jump back to the exact spot in the game you paused at w/ no additional loading or wait times is great. Like that I can simulate a season in Madden and while that's happening, can snap and browse through apps.

Controller is great.

EA Access is a great value for someone just now buying the console. That service has made the Xbox One a better console.

Horizon demo is awesome.

Just no real complaints. Think I'll purchase a Kinect from eBay for voice controls, fitness stuff and dance games for the kids.

There were times I debated switching from Xbox to PS this gen. Glad I didn't. Even if I eventually pick up a ps4 and upgrade the PC, can't see myself getting multi platform games on other systems. The entire ecosystem and way everything integrates is worth more than higher resolutions.

Be sure to calibrate your Kinect when you get it mane. If done correctly, you wont want to go back to traditional controls for navigating through entertainment. Its another world in my opinion.

Nope, no firewall i can disable. This modem router actually offers very little options.

I did all that. But i received and error when i tried opening port 80. It said it was already in use and thus it was made into 8080 or something. So i googled my modem router and with that error, turns out this modem router and/or provider does not allow port 80 to be opened....so basically....when it comes to that i am f***ed.

The modem router is a Davolink DV2020. Sadly there is no UPNP on it. I also have a Sitecom wireless modem router N300 X2, but no matter what i do...i can't get it to work. I'm gonna call my ISP tomorrow and ask if they can send me a modem router that has UPNP. I am stuck with this ISP until March 2015.

Someone here said if the NAT is strict or moderate..there will be many problems, but i must say i am impressed with how little problems i've had so far until recently.Even when it was strict i could join parties and talk to people.

Yeah the DMZ host was awesome on 360. It worked like a charm. I had given the 360 a IP of it's own and i put that IP in the DMZ host of the modem router. Sadly it didn't do anything for the Xbox One. I have not opened any other ports in my modem router, so that port 80 error is coming from something else. But it's not even something i can fix, with this crap ass modem router i cannot open port 80.

As for Linksys..i have the WRT54G, but it is only a router, not a modem router in one. I only have two modem routers here, but no normal modems unfortunetely. So the Linksys won't work.

Instead, ask your ISP to send you a modem only and then go buy a good router. This will be the best option (though at some expense to you). Generally those all Modem/Router combos are trash...especially the ones provided by the ISP.

I'm seriously stuck on the fence between getting a PS4 or an X1. PS4 will have Bloodborne which I know I would buy day one. However X1 will have master chief collection and Halo 5.

Have you tried both controllers, decide which one is better? If you were to buy either console now, what games out now interest you? Do you have friends more on one console than the other? Which exclusives out next year interest you?

Most importantly: which console has the better deal right now in your area ? Because if you're getting both eventually, then go for the best deal one.

Unless they can provide me one that has UPNP, that should clear all problems for me. With 360 this modem router was fine. All i had to do was give the 360 a static IP, put that in the DMZ host field of the modem router and done...all good.

By the way...it is been announced by the developer of Lords of the Fallen. 900p on Xbox One, 1080p on PS4. All good with me, cause hey...look at Ryse and Metro Redux.

So question. I noticed a few days ago everything was loading up slow so I switched the rent cords and still slow. Hard reset all that good stuff. Even tried wireless and even slower. Well today I tried wireless again with upnp on and it's running faster than when it was wired. Problems with both my Ethernet cords or the Ethernet connection on my xbox or what? I honestly thought wired is faster over wireless no matter what

Let me help you out- Halo>>> everything ;)

Seriously though, how are you going feel when everyone else is playing (and loving) Halo MCC in November...when is Bloodborne coming out again?

That goes without saying. Halo is the pinnacle of console gaming period. It's the reason why the Xbox brand exists.

I doubt we'll see Bloodborne until 2016 or something.. lol. So it should be an easy choice for him.

Depends on your router. If you have 10/100 ports, then Wireless N is faster than that (130 Mbps/300/450; depending on router configuration/client support). If your router is 10/100/1000 wired ports and you have a CAT5e cable or CAT6 cable, it should be faster BUT since most folks don't have 100Mbs + download from the ISP, the bottleneck is usually at the ISP. I would recommend that your home network is 1000 (Gigbit) though. Wireless always adds a few ms latency to the equation even if the "speed" is technically higher over wireless. I would never game wirelessly personally unless it was 100 % necessary (I have a CAT 6 cable running under my house from the main modem/router location all the way back to the rear of the house (goes into another gigabit router with more infrastructure). So, I'm wired to all locations where I game.

Also UPnP has nothing to do with how you connect to your router (wired or wireless) but with how the router is able to auto-configure itself for the needed traffic/services. For instance, I configured a media server on my system and it has remote capability (from an iPad client). UPnP automatically configured the correct ports for the application for me. Same with Xbox Live. The thinking is that a UPnP router will properly configure access to Live where as a non-UPnP might have to have the ports manually forwarded, etc.

I usually don't game wirelessly either unless I have to. That's why I'm confused on how wireless is loading things up faster like friends list or profiles or netflix than wired all of the sudden

They recently confimed it for February 2015.

Fan is getting louder now as well and theirs a buzzing noise probably go for the advanced replacement. Has anyone on here done that, smooth process and all?

I see the Xbox one has got a price drop in the UK. Is not much, only £20, but still £329>£349

been playing Watch Dogs for the first time and i'm really enjoying it.
i love stealth and open world games so this game is a match made in heaven for me.

I did it with my Kinect and I might have to do it with my box, but everything went fine. I got the new Kinect in about 5 days. The $10 fee seemed worth it to me.

I do game on PC but not often enough to warrant the purchase of a new game. The last game I bought was Divinity Original Sin and I got to play only every other week and my interest in the game teetered off.

Console games are easier for me because my current dwelling doesn't have ideal space for pc gaming.

I'd absolutely love to buy an Xbox for MCC. The videos I've seen are sperm inducing. It's easier to think that X11 would be the better buy because I know I'll enjoy the s*** out of MCC and Halo 5.

Bloodborne looks amazing and it's got the the developer two of my favorite games and the master mind of the superior of those games.

Sounds like I'll just have to take the advice someone said and just look ahead a couple years for exclusives I want most and choose that way.
What's the replayability of Bloodborne as to Halo MC/5 ?

It could be my eyes...maybe a need better glasses..maybe i am just crazy. But....judging by this video........i prefer the Xbox One here. Youtube may not be the best to compare them though, and probably if you had a killer PC next to your Xbox One for a direct comparison....things would turn out different. But boy....X1 is doing a good job here....@900p!!!!!! ;)

I agree. Don't know if they went for something more realistic or what, but the X1 version is more visually compelling to me.

I noticed that ever since i put my X1 to energy saving and not instant on, that i see updates for games but also demos. Today for the FH2 demo i actually got an update and now with Watch_Dogs too. So i assume with instant on it actually automatically installs updates for all games, even if you are not playing them at the moment?

Yeah, i believe so. When i had my X1 set to instant on it would turn on at random times. I'd come home and i'd wonder why it was on and then remember why. lol
