So you point is that the bigger steam box with dedicated GPU cooling system. dedicated CPU cooling and dedicated PSU cooling is the same ? . Oh, and how is that cost going ? lol. Comparing the steam prototypes to current consoles doesn't work. Tell me, does the titan in the steam box come with 3 dedicated fans :laugh:

PC have been similar in form factor for a while, but form factor is only part of the issue. Look at the 360 and RROD issue. That was all because of a slightly too small heatsink. Not to mention that these new consoles are all on on die, are they not ? a titan needs 2-3 fans on its own, but even if we said ok, the heat issue can be sorted easily( some sort of liquid cooling maybe). You are still left with the other major issue, cost.

it obviously doesn't need to be a titan when even a 760 blows these consoles out of the water. Stop acting so damn dense for once. a 780 is leaps and bounds better and doesn't need any special cooling. who the hell cares if these half ass consoles use socs or not. that was their decision and they didn't have to go that route. I can't even believe you are sitting here defending these half ass specs. Sandy bridge i5 is what? like a 100 bucks now and it pisses on the cpu in the xb1 a 770 is like 300 bucks or so and it pisses on the xb1. Thats not even including the discounts ms or sony could get for parts. gtfo with your bs


They wasted billions of dollars on R&D to come up with these half ass specs? hilarious

1080p with visual sacrifices is just a design mistake from MS, they went for broad entertainment and not power.

The latest is with MGS V, 1080p/60fps on the PS4 and 720p/60fps on the XB1. PS4 can achieve more, but this is not news if you listened to what I said from last Feb (2013).
 
MS dropped th ball this gen, no 2 ways about it. Anway, I probably end up getting XBOX one for gears, Halo, fable & Forza series, I probably won't renew my LIVE Gold as well. But no way are they getting the sort of my money from me like the last 2 gen, where I buy practically every games (until last few years), on 360, & pay for live yearly.

PC & PS4 will be where I will buy most of my games for. It sadden me a little, as a long time supporter, but they do not get free pass from me, like some members here. if your product are inferior, then sorry.

I am an Audi fan, but when I look at the spec of Merc & BMW, I find it hard to have my next car as an Audi anymore. I looked at the spec of Audi S3 vs Mercedes A45 AMG, Mercedes win or at minimum are even on every catergory of comparsion. Much better interior, 360hp vs 300hp (not even a contest), & costing only a bit more. maybe Audi Quattro is slightly better than Merc 4matic, but thats about it.

My point being, I maybe be a fan/supporter, but I am not a blind supporter, & if the competition have better product, I will not at least considered. Unless its sport, as supporting for your sport club is for life.

I was there day 1, hour 1, minute 1 when the OG Xbox went on sale and I gladly bought one with the forced 3 game bundle (at least I got to choose which 3 I wanted). I was a LIVE beta tester and had LIVE pretty consistently until the last couple years of the X360 when I started getting back into PC gaming. I waited 12 hours sitting on the floor of a Wal-Mart with a friend and a portable DVD player watching Firefly waiting to get an Xbox 360 when I bought it I picked up 3 games then went the next day and bought two more games. I've never owned and completed more games on any one console than I did the Xbox 360 (of which I bought 4 over those 8 years).

So believe me when I tell you that I feel your pain. MS dropped the ball hard, right onto my nuts and then for good measure they kicked my nuts to remove the ball.

I was really on the fence until the PS4 was revealed. Once the X1 was revealed I was pretty sure I wasn't going to get one but when the PS4 was revealed with it's nearly equally bad specs is when I decided that I'm sticking with PC this generation. IF and that's a mightly big IF Destiny is amazing I'll pick up a PS4 next winter but it's going to have to be something truly amazing and I just don't see that happening.

The PS4 specs, though not super uber powerful, are still a significantly bigger jump than the Xbox one. Unified 8GB of GDDR5 with a Radeon 7870 with some extra GPGPU modifications, while no Titan, is still somewhat impressive IMO. And that bigger jump is also $100 cheaper.

The same way you did in previous generations. Your release console runs hot and burns out quickly but it runs at the (near to) cutting edge, then you constantly refine it every 2 years.

Unfortunately for us Sony and MS just decided to release consoles that are "Okay" and will age alot quicker.

This gen won't last as long IMO
 
I love how people say Titan Titan Titan Titan, if you knew anything about PC gaming you would know that 780 Ti is a fair amount faster than Titan as is R9 290X.

Stop being so ignorant. The xbox 360 wasn't 1000 when it came out and it was just as good if not better than pc's at the time. Guess what? gpu's are cheaper than ever right now. This excuse is starting to get old real fast.

Keep making excuses for these companies though, I'm sure they love you for it.
 
It's even more depressing when I think about the fact that my i5 sandy bridge and geforce 760 can run Titanfall leaps and bounds better than xb1 can. Sandy bridge is old now and still poops on the cpu in these consoles. 760 is not even close to being top of the line and still poops on xb1 gpu. these parts aren't even expensive.
 
My first gen Intel i7 930 and 670 FTW can run Titanfall at full settings lol.

"Fair amount faster" lol no... beating it yeah. Id like to see a 780 ti beat my Titan SC though.
Besides not everyone wants a low amount of VR especially when going 4K.
 
I'm running it with a Q6600 and GTX570 at 2048x1152 resolution albeit not at max settings. I have texture and shadow at low everything else high at 2xMSAA and 16xAF.

Do you know what is getting old, gamers living in the past and thinking it is relevant to the now. The old ways of huge losses on hardware are done.

Uh yes it would. Your comparison to Xbox 360 is pretty pointless in 2013 so bringing it up just shows you really have no true understanding of the development process of hardware.

You running multiple monitors ?

I have an old rig like you. A Q8300, 4GB DDR2, and a 2GB 6950. Running all high except ragdoll (low) and shadow detail( medium) with 2xMSAA @ 1080P
