My Current Console Is....

This is what I've argued with people in this very thread who insist that the Microsoft 1st party isn't going to be much different next gen because they only "bought Indies"....or "look what those studios did in the last few years".

Don't get hung up with the name on the front of the door. Many of the big time publishers have bought small to medium sized studios and expanded them into AAA game producing teams. Microsoft has some of the best creative leads in the industry as a result of their Indie studio buying spree. Outside of Double Fine and Compulsion, they've been expanding considerably. That's in addition to contract work which is heavy in states like Cali. Microsoft 1st party will have more games in development with AAA production values than any other publisher in the industry. Can follow LinkedIn for the evidence.

The main aspect to be aware of is not acquisitions, but rather organic growth. The studios under the XGS umbrella have grown tremendously over the past 12 to 18 months and it speaks volumes to the investment the Xbox division is making towards internal game development.

I don’t have exact figures but in doing a little research the growth across Xbox Game Studios looks to be in the 750-850 employee range (depending on how you break it down). That factors in the expansion of major studios like Playground Games, Obsidian, and Rare along with the continued build out of The Initiative in Santa Monica.

Sega Genesis is still my favorite console of all time. If there's a Sega partnership that brings in all their old classic stuff, would be an amazing announcement. Sega is one of the reasons the OG Xbox was such a cool console. I don't see a buyout but a partnership makes a lot of sense. Especially if they're looking for portable content for Xcloud in the Eastern markets.

I take it you have a Genesis mini with a true blue lunar then?

Sega might be the best developer to ever grace our reality.

Agreed
It really is a shame what happened to Sega.
The 32X, surprise Saturn launch without a killer app, Saturn Engineers misjudging how fast 3D was coming to homes all led to Sega's current situation.

I do not. Considered buying it multiple times but I don't know if I could use that controller and be disconnected from the entire community while gaming too long. I'm not a collector. Sega games coming to Xbox in higher def would be different.

Mega Drive was my favourite Sega system. So many late nights with my bros playing PGA Tour.

You could buy them for so cheap its easily an impulse buy.
I paid $35 brand new for my Genesis Mini from Game Stop a couple of months ago.
I also have a SNES Mini too. Nostalgia is real for me.
I'm really debating the Turbo Graf X 16 mini right now too. I also owned a TG16 back in 1991 - 1994.

Does that mean Ever Wild is a Launch Window game?
I expected it to be 1 - 2 years in.

I'm with you, but maybe...? Wait, I just found this quote from not too long ago: "Studio Head Craig Duncan kept his cards to his chest in an interview with Eurogamer around the time of Everwild’s reveal, where he called it a “very unique type of game,” and explained the philosophy at Rare that led to the game’s creation. Duncan notes that it’s about “putting a set of passionate people together making something they truly love and believe in.” ”That’s why Everwild will be the game it will be,” he continues.
He was similarly cryptic in a blog post on the Rare website, where Duncan states that the game is “still in early development” but that the team is “focused on building an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world.” According to Duncan, Everwild will be “more than just a new IP,” and he later waxes about the fact that the meaningful experiences it offers will be “for players everywhere to share."

Didn't know they were that cheap. I'll look it up. So many great Genesis memories.

I'm hoping that due to Game Pass "filler", Xbox can recapture some of that magic next gen. Sega Genesis had so many pretty looking "who asked for this" weird games with niche or cult followings.

I here ya
While MS is at it in Japan they should commission From Soft to make Otogi Myth of Demons 3 and a New Ninja Blade.
Some of these games could help cover up the giant hole Ninja Gaiden left once Itagaki left Tecmo.

They were that cheap back in December but it looks like they're back to $80 now.

A new ninja blade would be awesome, had a lot of fun with that one was pleasantly surprised.

That would be cool as hell. I'm probably in the minority but I'm looking forward to the potential niche AA games as much as the AAA games next gen.
