Rumors, rumors

If these rumors are true I wonder if XGS bought 2 new studios or built 2 new studios.
We'll know if these leaks are real in May when Doom Eternal, Conker, etc all hit GP.

I hope they are true. But I have a hard time believing Doom will be on GP already

This is the stuff to get really excited about. As I mentioned in the PS5/Series X thread, empowering devs with these ML based tools is going to change the quality and diversity of content in the industry more than tflops will. Just because Microsoft has their studios "diluted" between multiple projects doesn't mean there going to put out a bunch of games that look Indie. Between these tools and a AAA industry that's getting much better at outsourcing and ramping up contract work during production, expect games that look a lot bigger than the core teams behind them.

Indeed. That looks amazing 😳

Yep, when you don't have devs focused on hand crafting each rock, tree and pebble...you can actually create more detailed worlds with handcrafting being applied to the stuff that matters most. Add this to a tech world that's being forced to develop pipelines for remote work, suddenly smaller teams will be able to scale up to big projects quickly. We recently saw amazing work from Moon Studios (Ori) who Microsoft had the privilege of watching closely all gen. Moon is 100% remote with no home office.

I've theorized that there was a special/different development pipeline going on at The Initiative which is why that team has stayed small for so long yet was recruiting some of the best in the industry. That's just my theory based on knowing the tech industry evolution in general and not based on any insider leaks.

Coalitions A team is going to shock a lot of people expecting something similar in quality to Outer Worlds. They've been hiring for massive project meant to set the bar for an open world RPG. Their Pillars of Eternity IP can be scaled up from isometric to mainstream like Fallout was going from 2 to 3.

Ninja Theory pioneered some of the animation tech now being used in Unreal and are currently pioneering the procedural tech. This has been in process for awhile.

These types of technologies and evolved development pipelines will impact the entire industry. All major publishers. I'd put money on Microsoft getting off to a head start leveraging these evolutions as a publisher since they're the #1 software and API company in the world who other hardware and API companies need to ensure compatibility with. They need to get their s*** right with Microsoft before moving to everyone else. Microsoft is also one of the top 3 AI/ML companies in the world. Top 2 Cloud companies. #1 in providing solutions for remote work to business. The fact that Microsoft's top has bought into gaming, has opened up their core competitive advantages to be leveraged by gaming, are investing big money into their own game stack will mean some crazy s***.

Again what I think is exciting is that at some point this gen, these things will become the norm. If you're heavily invested in the Microsoft ecosystem, you'll feel the effects early. Microsoft's acquisitions brought in some of the top creative leads in the industry. These techs will allow even Microsoft's smaller studios like Compulsion and Double Fine to bring their unique art styles mainstream with added production values. Since Spencer and co are giving all these studios the breathing room and autonomy to create, I'm more excited about what's hiding in the gaming vaults at Microsoft than any other publisher at this moment.

Rumor (English isn’t the first language for this guy, so apologies for all the notations):

Next Forza

OG X1 1080p 60 FPS, better Gfx than F7

X1X = Ray tracing Shadow+reflection+GI+etc

XSX = NG RT= 80% RT + 20% Raster = Almost full RT(Path) = NG RT + 120FPS
—————
Edit:

GI = Global Illumination

NG = Next-gen

“Raster is short for rasterization, which is the current way real-time 3D graphics are produced. This is in contrast to ray-traced graphics, which are superior to raster in every way except speed.”

sweet and I want my forza h4 to get special treatment.

I’m sure there’ll be an update as a sort of test bed for playgrounds to do there toes for what they’re doing with horizon 5, like the patch they did for horizon 3 on the one x.

if horizon 5 is released on Xbox one I hope they get sumo studios to handle that port like they did with horizon 2...leaving PG to focus solely on the series x.

Looks like Crysis 2007 PC.
I think bfc you may need to play it again, lol. It looks great to this day, but it still isn't at that level. That said, just because these are artist renders doesn't mean they are what's being rendered in game. They're are a lot of unreal artist pics that wouldn't work in real time. We shall see

... uh, that's as highly modded PC version on a 1200-1500 pc gpu... and still doesn't look like those screenshots. You proved nothing outside of me realizing that I dont know if i can respec your opinion on graphics. Seriously, i what way do those rocks and forest not look better?

Only thing I will say is that we dont know if the screenshots are game assets or just someone messing around with UE4 features.

2007 game and the video does it no justice but gives a good idea.
I can run it with a single 1080ti 4K and it looks as good as that picture in person.
Crysis 3 2013 PC 4K looks even better.

Yeah, the crysis gameplay embedded looks like late X360 graphics, maybe at a higher res than possible then. It only serves to disprove your point my friend.

P.S in regards to the beach gameplay, forest looks better.

Isn’t it kinda unfair to compare crysis to new games. The game and its artist never made/released a 4k texture or or geometry pack...all of it is made by artist or other mods.

I’d like to see the actual latest official developer update/patch and see how the brute force of the latest tech runs it, because we all know it wasn’t optimized for the current tech out there now.

Textures look great in that vid, but geometry and lighting are what shows its age, IMO. If karmakid is correct, that's not even the original assets? Then this is not really a good comparison at all.

Still, absolutely no contest with the still images, even though still images are just assets themselves, and we have no proof in motion either.

Nothing wrong with procedural. People used to think of procedural being bad due to No Mans Sky but arguably the best looking game this gen Horizon Zero Dawn uses a modified procedural tech. When creating vast worlds teams of 200-500 people can't be expected to handcraft every land asset. Procedural will actually speed up development but some devs refuse to use it like R* which is why their games take so damn long. PG's procedural tech looks impressive.
