NX: Nintendo's new next gen hardware

I guess it's good to be more powerful than a console that was underpowered 2 years ago.

Nintendo NX Games Include At Least Four Wii U Ports?
We have had a number of rumors about alleged Nintendo NX games that will make it in the launch line-up, however since Nintendo itself is yet to reveal the console, they are also not talking about the games so far.

Yet, according to some rumors it looks like they are not completely focused on new games – unlike what a vast majority of the fans would want. In fact, an insider says that at least four Wii U games are going to be ported at first.

Nintendo NX Games Include Four Wii U Ports?
Emily Rogers, a known leaker and alleged insider recently tweeted about the the games that will (in her opinion) be among the launch titles of the console, and without giving us any names she said that there will be at least four games that we already know of.

Her Twitter does not have the tweet anymore, but she also added that actually there were more Wii U ports being worked on, out of which Rogers is sure of at least four.

Now if we look at the game line up on Wii U, some names pop up in our minds immediately, like the new Zelda Wii U game which has already been rumored to be one of the NIntendo NX games we will get.

Other speculations suggest that we could get Super Smash Bros, Splatoon and Super Mario Maker since these have been the most popular releases of late.

While the speculations regarding Wii U ports remains open, a number of new games have also been rumored to be released on Nintendo NX. For instance Luigi’s Mansion 3, Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Mech Super eXtended, and an Ubisoft game.

More on Nintendo NX games could come at E3 hopefully.

Imagine if the only games at launch were ports. :ygiggle:

If true that would probably indicate that the system is not backwards compatible.

Or!.. Or that just means that's the best they could come up with for the NX launch: four Wii U HD ports that already run on the new console through backwards compatibility. Don't ever underestimate the Big N's capability to push the boundaries of batcrazy hysterical ridiculousness!

d00d Zelda and Smash Bro's would fly off the shelves.
The NX hype train is easy to get on when you understand gaming and Nintendo.
A new Zelda and a new Smash. Old versions would sell well too I guess.. maybe, but who wants that?

Zelda is kind of a different situation since it will be a simultaneous release.

A better looking Smash Bothers may do well. I won't dismiss it.

Emily Rogers: Why you should be excited about NX’s software output
Instead of focusing our attention solely on hardware, we should really be having a discussion about NX’s software. Based on things I’ve heard, I am 100% confident that the NX’s software output will blow away the Wii U’s software output (which was never impressive to begin with). In a single year, the NX will build a larger library of games than Wii U produced in three or four years.

This isn’t some hyperbolic statement. This isn’t speculation nor blind optimism. These aren’t my personal fan wishes either. Furthermore, my negative feelings toward the Wii U have zero influence on any of the information mentioned below.

Here is what I’ve been told by my sources close to Nintendo:

  • The big fundamental focal point (and overall goal) behind NX is to vastly increase the software output from Nintendo’s first party teams and studios.
  • To accomplish this, the entire process of how Nintendo develops and produces software has gone through radical changes.
  • There is a new strategy that was put in place to create and release first party software at a faster rate.
  • Multiple unannounced Wii U projects were moved over to NX.
  • The NX could potentially see the highest output of first party software in the company’s history. (I’m talking about the entire lifespan of NX. Not just one or two years.)

I'm glad to hear that Nintendo is trying to address the slow trickle of first party offerings.

Couple that with likely strong third party support and it should be successful.

I won't trust it till I see it. They've been saying this type of thing at the beginning of every release.

Hopefully they start adopting a more western development approach. I've read several interviews with Japanese developers who are working along side western teams where they outline how different the two philosophies are (most recently with the Developers behind Scalebound, but I've read silimar accounts). It probably explains why Japanese games seem to take so long.

The unknown is if they can retain that Nintendo Charm if they change development processes.

They should pack in Super Mario Galaxy 3 with the launch of the NX. You want to sell consoles? Go back to your roots. None of this Wii Sports or Nintendo Land nonsense.

Honestly, it's been so long since we got a proper Mario, it should be a given for a launch title. Too bad Ninty hasn't been in the habit of giving people what they want recently.

Galaxy was a Wii game... Wasn't it? I actually loved Galaxy on my old Wii...

Edit: yeah, both 1 & 2 were in the Wii. The problem is, Ninty takes so long to release games that you can actually jumble different generations!

I hear ya. Nintendo used to pack in Mario games back in the day, but now it's a separate purchase.

I think that is their point though. Packing it in leads to a zero revenue freebie. Sell it separately as most gamers will buy it = mega money.

Well they better start giving people what they want because i'm a hardcore Nintendo fan and even i'm losing hope that they'll ever get back on track. Just keeping it real. I liked the Wii and Wii U but they could have been so much more. They need to do everything they can to get people to buy the NX.
