Zelda going to clean up

Seems about right. Zelda single handedly revitalized Nintendo on consoles. I feel it’s sandbox will be copied a lot going forward. Gamers will have the expectation that they can jump on anything, there’s no invisible walls and they can come up with creative ways to overcome situations that maybe even the developers didn’t think of. Biggest issue I had with Horizon:ZD was the invisible walls and the sandbox wasn’t as diverse as it looks on the surface.

The Hunter ..Call of the Wild..gets my vote. Are there any hunters in here? even if you're not a hunter it's a beautiful game to just walk around and explore.

Originally was going to say Horizon Zero Dawn, but I just got done playing Ruiner and that now takes the win for me.

STOP THE VOTES!!!

We have a late entry!!!

Come for the p****, stay for the tail!!!

A cat dating someone! Finally!!!

Um, Resistance got 86, 87 and 83 at Metacritic. Unless reviews don't count this week.

Rfom was decent for a launch title and likely got better than decent scores due to the lack of offerings on the ps3 at launch.

2 was terrible and 3 was single player focused.

Well guess what. I liked all 3.

Started playing Horizon: ZD a few days ago on PS4 Pro. Easily the best looking game, period. Just simply beautiful. I can't comment yet on best game this year, especially when I haven't played Zelda. Gameplay is as nearly as solid as the graphics, so far, though. I am just floored by it!

Nice. Still gotta fire up Horizon ZD for the first time myself and now that i have the PS4 Pro that's even more reason to. Probably just going to wait until i get a 4K TV though to get the full effect.

Glad Zelda took GOTY though. Nintendo needs some good will. I don't think Sony minds sharing the spotlight for once. Wish Microsoft would get into the mix one of these years.

Theres so many flaws in their argument though... Bleh. The entire thing reads with an air of superiority.

Their biggest issue seems to be not wanting the game to run in two consecutive years, and the branding of the game.

What if a game releases DLC the following year, and it's worthy of GOTY?

What about an expansion pack? Is that different? At what point is an expansion pack different from DLC?

Burning Crusade took out a bunch of GOTY awards from magazines, and that was years after WoW came out... I think the Frozen Throne did something similar with WC3.

Anyway, I think they should have just said "We have decided this is what the games are going to be from now on" instead of pretending that it's always been this way.

The fact is, there hasn't been an opportunity for a beta/early release game to knock the top tier finished games off their perch.

I don't think the game is GOTY though...

The argument for them is maybe not this game but a game that launches in early access and is terrible but ends up being great by the time its officially released. A game like that would get ignored for awards.

It's their publication so they can choose their policy. If it were my publication, once they reached a state where anyone could give them money and play the game the same day, that's when initial reviews would hit and when I'd consider them for GOTY.

But but butt giant bomb has it under their game GOTY contenders, and they’re under the same CBS wing....has gameinformer released a statement regarding PUBG for GOTY?
