My group of friends has pretty much settled on this being the better of the two games on Xbox.

Guess I'll have to hop into the battle royale craze eventually.

Given that Fortnite is more popular on Xbox than PUBG I think that is 100% the percent the reason.
Or the fact that Fortnite is free and PUBG is $30.

I still prefer PUBG personally, especially since the most recent updates, but Fortnite is about as good as it gets for a free download.

I know that is the reason Fortnite is more popular but that isn't what I was talking about

The main differences as I see them.

PUBG is more intense. The highs are higher (end game circles) but the lows are lower (not seeing anyone for 10 min then dying).

Fortnite is more fun. There's more gameplay variety and it encourages aggressive play a bit more than PUBG.

Both are amazing.

I still have some people on my Friends List that are still playing this over PUBG and they own both.
I own both, but I play this a bunch more. I find that PUBG seems to have a bunch of cheaters on PC, and put me off a few months ago.

I'm gonna get the full version eventually, but I have too many games to finish first.

Bellybama, and anyone else playing Fortnite right now...can you humor me for a second?

In one universe, we have a Campfire item that heals for 2hp per second, has a 25 second duration, and doesn't emit any smoke.

In another universe, we have a Campfire item that heals for 1hp per second, has a duration of 75 seconds, and emits a 3 story high smoke stack that can be seen from anywhere within line of site.

Can anyone theorize as to why we were placed in the darkest timeline? Either Epic had a massive brain fart or they just wanted to push Campfire version 1.0 out the door before fixing it or I'm clinically insane. Isn't the second Campfire just objectively better design?

40 million players. Over 2 million concurrent.

Fortnite Battle Royale is now arguably bigger than PUBG. Not bad for a game that released three and a half months ago.

Oh and apparently this weeks update is the biggest one in FNBR's existence.

PUBG #1 on PC
Fortnite #1 on consoles
PUBG #1 in the world
Fortnite #1 in the west (maybe)

I don't know man. It sounds like 40+% of PUBG players are Chinese. To the best of my knowledge, Fortnite isn't playable in China. Plus, Fortnite has over 40 million players to PUBG's is at a little over 30 million.

2018 is the year of Fortnite though. Nothing is stopping that train.

That is why Fortnite is probably #1 in the west

The second video is a celebration showing two different Fortnite animations (bandages and slurp juice)

As of right now, we're 18 hours away from this...

Side note: It's interesting to see Epic go on an apology PR tour with the rest of their game communities. Fans of their other games have been complaining on Reddit and Epics response is basically "Sorry, but 40 million Battle Royale players..." Here's an official response to their Paragon community.

Fortnite Cross-Play appears again on PS4 and Xbox One
https://www.psu.com/news/fortnite-cross-play-ps4-xbox-one/

After probably getting in a bit of hot water a few months back, it seems like Epic Games have left cross-platform play on again in Fortnite.

According to reports on Reddit concerning the PvE version of the game, Xbox One players claim to have seen PlayStation exclusive skins on characters in Xbox versions of the lobby, among other things.

The PS4-exclusive skin on a female Constructor class can be seen below in an Xbox lobby.

Is it simply an accident that this has happened yet again. Are Epic secretly hoping Sony cave on cross-play if they keep ‘forgetting’ to switch it off? Probably nothing quite that blatant, but it stops being an accident if you keep doing something repeatedly.

The latest update for Fortnite dropped earlier this week, but that was mainly focused on refreshing the map for the PvP Battle Royale mode.

Whatever the reason for it, it will only serve to put more pressure on Sony to be friendly with Microsoft over cross-play.

The company was heavily criticized for not being open to it when cross-play function was established in Rocket League and Minecraft for several platforms. Sony simply stuck to its guns.

In fairness, Sony aren’t doing anything particularly new. Microsoft took a similar approach last generation. And Final Fantasy XIV’s absence on Xbox One has everything to do with Microsoft not wanting to play cross-play ball.

Sony haven’t got a massive cash flow to risk in losing its market lead. That’s led to some overly cautious decision-making with the PlayStation brand. For better or worse. It can be frustrating sure, but understandable for a company that was on its knees not so long ago.

Epic will likely get away with this if it is a mistake or not. Fortnite is doing big numbers thanks to Battle Royale, and PS4 has a good chunk of the audience for it. Epic even alluded to Sony’s denial of cross-play at The Game Awards last year.

I don't fully understand why Sony is taking the heat for this. There is PS4 to PC crossplay but on XBox One, no such thing exists.

That reminds me...

...Fortnite is fun.

I finally decided to install this on my Xbox. Haven't played it yet though. Maybe if I have some time this weekend.

Played for the first time this past weekend with some friends. Got my first squad win.

The game is definitely fun.

In my 200+ hours with the game, I present to you my two finest clips...

Yeah, I know this is probably as thrilling as a stranger showing you pictures of her kids. But...but look at how beatiful they are!

Another Fortnite sponsored PSA for people who enjoy video games. People, play Fortnite.

So my brother walks in tonight and the first thing he says to me is "Play Fortnite". My brother is 40 years old and hasn't played a videogame in 15+ years, but he has shown somewhat of an interest in the game prior. I ask why and he responds with "I was talking to a family and their two college age girls brought up the game out of nowhere. They say all the guys at school are obsessed with Fortnite. One of the girls even showed me a picture on her phone showing me she won or something." Ah yes I say, "The Victory Royale screen".

So I boot the game up, jump on, land in Tilted Towers for four straight games and get obliterated each time. Estimated average lifespan per match: 90 seconds. My brother says I suck and takes a phone call. On my fifth try, I manage to make it out of Tilted (with a couple of kills along the way) and go sit in a bush waiting for my brother to get off the phone. He returns about 60 seconds before the start of this video...

From the :38 second mark to the 01:29 minute mark my brother is literally (not figuratively) screaming at me, demanding I do such things as "Shoot him! Jump! What is he doing?! You're dead! What is happeniiiing?! Etc..." And for those 50 seconds I'm repeatedly yelling back at him "Shut up! You're not helping!"

The last time I saw my brother yelling at a TV in this manner was during the final 2 minutes of game 7 of the 2016 NBA finals. I am not exaggerating when I say this.

To put the clip in context (solos match) I should have died at the :38 second mark when that guy built right over me. I should have died when I didn't pick up his RPG right away. Should have died when I ran out of building materials. Should have died when I picked up the RPG with 0 ammo in it. And I should have died jumping on that rocket explosion. But as Beyonce says, God is real.

Oh and here's a squad game I captured with mic audio so you can get some idea what that's like. It's a long one but it has a cool start.

Lastly, they're adding a new minigun tomorrow that will most likely be used as a base buster.

This game must be really popular, there is always someone on my buddy list playing it no matter what time I sign in. I've only tried it a couple of times and I sucked badly lol.

Great clips. I have to start developing the instinct to build when I get in a tight spot. I'm still in the noob phase.

It should be a bigger news story than it is. Here are the most recent numbers showing growth rate.

On January 15th, Epic announces 40 million players.

On January 19th (4 days later), Epic announces 45 million players.

Then a week later on January 26th, an Epic employee goes on Reddit to apologize for the buggy nature of the game this past week saying "This week we had a bigger influx of players than we expected which is contributing to some of our login issues."

I'll bet Fortnite is rounding 60 million pretty soon.

Even MLB pitcher Phil Hughes is getting in on the action. If this Tweet is to be believed, he just killed someone many consider to be the best Fortnite player in the game (Ninja).

I'm kind of surprised this game isn't more popular here. Seems like everyone I know is constantly talking about it.

I'm definitely addicted to it now.
