Guys, do you know what games have outsold any version of Halo, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Forza, Fable, MGS or Final Fantasy?

Mario Kart Wii
Nintendogs
Pokémon Red / Blue
Pokémon Silver / Gold
Pokémon Diamond / Pearl
Wii Play
New Super Mario Bros.
Brain Age
Wii Fit

I'm saying that NX could end up with the best and best selling games line up, that's all I'm saying.
With the right hardware, price and Zelda as a launch title... The NX will be the biggest selling console in 2016.

1 game that comes every year. Halo is a series we will get in some form every year. FPS, RTS, whatever, every two years at worst. Its a brand. Mario is the same, it comes out often and is successful.

Nintendo and MS have 1 really strong, top tier series, Sony used to have two, now they have zero, one at best if GT makes some crazy comeback but they have already told fans what they didn't want to hear about old standard cars returning.

MGS4 sold 6 million, not something just to throw away. GTA is a more pure example, but nonetheless both are very strong.

Not every Halo sells like that. Halo Wars didn't. MCC didn't. So I repeat my question. The bottom line is the X1 doesn't currently have series that hit that magical bar. Why is this ok to you? When will Microsoft come out with another series that sells like this? Its been 14 years. If its so easy and so important why aren't your standards so high for them?

Sony had 1 exclusive series that sold like that on the PS2 and its the most popular console ever. It was ok if every series didn't sell 10 million. It was ok if every series didn't sell 5 million.

List of Final Fantasy games released on each platform:

Final Fantasy Type-0

PlayStation 4:

Windows:

There isn't a mainline halo game yet, stop downplaying. We still get fillers inbetween which continues building the brand. Last gen we got 3 mainline halo games(even reach) sold over 30 million. The game isn't out, that's why its ok. No need to worry, not a single mainline halo has sold under 9 million in 14 years.

Its ok for who to sell 5 million? You? PS3 also had a 10+ million seller in GT5.

You make the mistake of thinking that these devs and manufacturers can just create a juggernaut franchise at a whim. It doesn't work that way. No one could've predicted how well Halo would do on its first installment. Same with Gears. Same with Forza. Same with Fable also with Uncharted. You can have the best developers in the world and I can guarantee whatever title their working on, scares the s*** out of them. Not because they doubt their own abilities (which I can promise there are times they do) but because they have no idea how that product will do once out on the wild. There simply is no gauge in how to determine how the masses will respond.

One way to increase the odds with any artistic property in your favor is in the team you pick to create the product. But even then, there are no guarantees.

The fact that Sony STILL doesn't have a team that can create juggernaut franchises like Halo or Gears can be attributed to the devs/team they pick. The great thing about franchises such as Halo that have created such a massive following is that once the first property hits, the devs who created it, now know what works and you can build on that. So, yes. Even though Halo hasn't been released just yet, it will be. To the point where you can take it to the bank. Everyone knows this.

Whats to downplay? You are still only talking about a mainline series every 3 years or so. What are we supposed to the rest of the time? Play Crackdown? That won't sell 10 million. Too bad though. Looked promising.

Its ok for Gears and Uncharted to sell 6 million right? And those are pretty big franchises. Maybe its not ok and they are huge failures. I don't know.

I have to say though what you are doing is actually pretty clever. Most people are very short sighted with their spins. You have set it up so even when something like Uncharted comes out you can dismiss it because its not as big as Halo. So I give you credit on that one.

But TLOU and Uncharted sold as well as Gears.

And Microsoft didn't have the team to create Gears either. They just bought it from the ones that did. Not that there is anything wrong with that but we should establish facts.

Supporting cast is great, all those games are great you mentioned here and are important, even essential. My challenge is were is Sony's big brand name, the face of the franchise. Snake? Or like Bandicoot was? Yea like when you think of Mario you think Nintendo etc. Not only those series back it up with sales and popularity. Where else can a game with half the install base murder other exclusives with twice the install base? Brand power. Sony doesn't have that despite being the most popular console by a huge margin. Mario does, Chief does it.

Why?

MS has counters for those games and also a level above that that sony doesn't reach.

They never had the mascot like they did. Never seemed to matter though. Still doesn't.

MS has counters for those games

Seems questionable.

I think we'd be on page 20 or so if you mo'fos learned how to mutli-quote.

We need more combo-breakers.

VaL and de3d need to be stopped!

edit: this guy below me too.

Yeah. Doesn't matter if they bought it. They still had an eye on a successful development who could increase their chances for success.

Also, since the first Gears was a juggernaut, the foundation has been laid. Gears is super successful and continues to be, even with The Coalition at the helm. In this case, the formula for success has been written. Microsoft simply picked the team who could improve upon it.

And TLoU and Uncharted sold as well as Gears franchise? Link?

I'm betting the next Crackdown cracks 1 million in its first week.
