GOTY Poll

Game of the Year?

You're right. Everyone here should give up their right to choose for themselves and should conform to the masses. Would make things simpler.

Again...
I am just pointing out how sad it is that *some*(looking at the ones who did its not all of them) purposely chose fh2 because its a Xbox One exclusive.

Sunset Overdrive was great and exclusive, why isn't it there as well? Did the xbots here not know it was exclusive? :)

lol, your point is destroyed, Sunset should be through the roof if your theory was correct, but sadly, everyone knows that isn't a surprise. Your theories are usually way off even when they don't sound like drunken babble. :)

So Val, if there was a sony exclusive to even choose from, are you saying people wouldn't pick it because its an exclusive? Surely only xbots do that right? Love ya Val

Yeah it is a spin. I asked why isn't Sunset through the roof, its one of the lowest scoring games in the poll.

Explain. Sucks when I make a good point and you have NOTHING to counter doesn't it?

already one lol, nah, I'm sure these guys are xbots, site is unknown, don't understand good games, etc etc etc....

That's cool, don't get so defensive, and don't confuse me with Valiance. I'm not saying people voted for it because the game was an Xbox exclusive. There's no doubt the game is deserving. Even at GAF, it gets mentioned as a GOTY candidate.

I'm just saying that, at an Xbox-leaning site, you're going to have a higher percentage of people who've played the Xbox exclusives, and so those games will have a higher number of potential voters/supporters than they would at other sites. They have a head start, so to speak. Now whether those potential votes translate into actual votes -- that depends on the voters and the game. Which is the answer to the S.O. question, btw -- potential votes don't necessarily translate into actual votes, and that could be for a variety of reasons (e.g., the person doesn't bother to vote, doesn't consider it GOTY, etc.).

Oh believe me, you have nothing to worry about me confusing you with Valliance at all. I can understand you drunk better than when he's sober for starters. :)

Still waiting on your response Val, why isn't Sunset voted up on here being an xbox exclusive and a great game, but FH2 is.

I'm happy Destiny is finally getting some love. It's an awesome game and my personal GOTY, it just does a lot of things right while also doing a lot of things wrong.

One thing is it definitely nailed the social aspect despite not having any dedicated clan options but there has never been any other game that allowed people to connect like how Destiny has.

6 random gamers coming together at anytime and attempting to conquer the raids is a beautiful thing. I've never experienced anything like it. I know some people who've never even touched a mic before in gaming but after Destiny , it has become the norm and they can't game without it now.

That's interesting. Why do you suppose that is? What is it that Destiny has, that other games don't? Why are people connecting and talking in Destiny, whereas in other games they aren't?

Some more Dark Souls 2 luv from me(this isn't directed as a negative towards you andy)

Just a few notable positives

4. Dark Souls II

"Well, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 definitely aren’t dead yet. One of the most beautiful and enthralling worlds of the year came from Dark Souls II, the latest in a series that’s become known for its epic challenge.

The land of Drangleic is the centerpiece of a game filled with challenge and mystery, a game that had experiencing and living a story instead of ever listening to a narrative. Each and every battle against an enemy was tense, calculated, button-mashing held to a minimum, and a hearty helping of unique PvP actions added to the intensity.

Next-gen gamers can experience all of this in 2015, too: Namco will release Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin in March, which should make a great game even better."

I think it's because of the addicting yet frustrating loot system that Bungie has implemented into the game. Everyone wants to get the best guns but the drops are random. You can only play once a week per character per difficulty. Combined with a great fundamental shooting mechanics system, each raid requires that all 6 people know EXACTLY what their job is on the team and it also requires immense communication between all team members. If you have 5 veterans, then there's a chance that the 6th person may be carried through the raid but still, they need solid guns and fundamental knowledge in order to beat each raid. On top of that, it's just pure fun zipping through the raid. Kicking back, talking with some strangers who have the exact same motive as you, and that is to get the raid done ASAP to get a chance at getting the best legendary and exotic guns in the game right now. I've done the raid like at least 50 times now and I'm still enjoying myself.

Additionally, each raid have secret/hidden chests that also may give you random exotic drops. For example, the hawkmoon hand cannon in my display pic is one of the more rare exotic guns in the game particularly because it's playstation exclusive so Xbox players have no idea how the gun shoots like but I've seen many Xbox only gamers viewing streams saying stuff like "damn, the hawkmoon just became one of my most wanted weapon in the game". Even if you're playing Destiny on a PS platform, the gun is quite rare to come across, only dropping from random crucible matches, hidden chests in the raid or even nightfall/weekly strikes.

So one time when I was playing the Vault of Glass raid, we were at one of the hidden chests where you "MAY" get a chance of getting an exotic drop. So the first person gets a Monte Carlo exotic auto rifle (also PS exclusive), second person gets a Plan C exotic fusion rifle and the last person gets the hawkmoon (guy who got the hawkmoon was streaming) and the whole stream went nuts because everyone knew he was waiting for the longest time to get that gun. It's just simple and fun times like that which makes this game so unique.

I've had so many great memories over the past few months just like that by playing the game, it just has that fun factor nailed.

Can't wait to play DS2 next year with all the expansions.

Maybe we should have included driveclub on the polls just so Val feels a little better.

Thanks for the explanation, DM. It sounds like the game requires a lot of knowledge and communication among its players, at least if they are going to be successful. That's a hard thing to pull off well, without alienating people who just want to drop in and have some fun. I admire games that do it, though. Back when I had the time and inclination, I really enjoyed the teamwork and communication aspects of online gaming, but that faded for me over time (partly because of me, partly because people stopped communicating and working together online ... randoms, I mean).

Only for the raids really and if you want to be competitive in the crucible. (PvP Multiplayer).

Bungie also does this thing called the Iron Banner from time to time (like maybe once per month or two months) which makes all character level, weapon damage level relevant in PvP. Normally in the crucible, all guns and level are effectively neutralized to even the playing field so a level 20, while at a slight disadvantage from gear perks, may still have a chance at doing well in the game killing level 30+ etc. But in the Iron Banner (which normally lasts a week), the levels are weapon damage levels are all taken into account so a level 20 will just get destroyed if he or she participates in the Iron Banner.

On top of that, you can earn unique weapons, emblems, gear etc. from the event if you participate.

Little events like this are what makes me keep coming back to Destiny.

Forza Horizon 2 for me, haven't yet played Far Cry 4 or DAi though but from what I've played Forza Horizon 2 impressed me most, I'm not even into driving games that much but I really enjoyed it.

Now I'm playing FarCry 4, another very awesome game (voted for Dragon Age but feel this is just as good)!

I see Forza Horizon 2 is still in the lead. An Xbox exclusive being recognized as a potential GOTY? Unheard of. PS fans be making fake accounts pretty soon just to vote for something else.
