Ohh man, I played for a few hours last night and this game is amazing. The races are so much fun and the presentation is just pure eye candy especially the car models. But I knew that going in after watching so many videos but what most impressed me was sound which is giving my surround sound system a work out.

Right now I'm using the Honda S 2000 and its a really good car on corners where I can apply power and still have control, its handling is right for my style of driving. I'm still a little intimidated by all the tuning options because I'm used to arcade racers where you just pick a car a go but I'm sure I'll get the hang of things but any tips from the Forza veterans would be appreciated.

Ha, love the Top Gear involvement.......Vrooooooooooooooooom!!!

Tuning isn't all that hard to be honest. You just need to know what it is you want to improve. You want better acceleration then increase the gear ratios. Want to combat a very rear end happy car then increase the rear anti-roll bar, soften suspension, get some positive camber. Pretty much the opposite if you want to fix under-steer.

Makes sure your tires are at the right temp. To do this do a few practice and pay attention to where the heat is. If it on the edge then increase pressure, if in the center, decrease pressure. Many people do not bother with Tire pressure which is a huge mistake, it affects grip and responsiveness.

It is fairly easy just remember to be patient and make small changes. Also, check out some of the tuning guides for previous Forza games and the principles are the same.

Tuning isn't that hard for you as a certified gearhead but I didn't understand much of what you said, lol. But thanks for the tips as I'm sure a lot of what you mention will make sense once I get more time with the game.

I went looking around for tuning guides and luckily there are tons available online so that will help. I originally purchased this as a game to keep me busy until Titanfall and other heavy hitters come out next month. But I have a feeling this game will last well beyond that.

Forza has that affect. Is just a quality game, and if you get in to the tuning then itself can consume 100 hours all on its own. Soon will dream of nothing but camber angles and caster degrees, dampener levels, and downforce percentages:D

Online racing is getting really tiresome. Between the griefers, cutters, wall riders and annoying homophobic racist blathering on about weed it is hard to find a room in which I enjoy being in. On top of that there is no verity. Not only due to the fewer tracks but the fact that all the hoppers revolve around the same general classification cars. Why have league hoppers never changed to offer a better verity of car options. For a game that prides itself on car collecting you would not know it from the multiplayer which pushes players into the same few general classification cars to be competitive.

I like the way tuning is finally tweaked. You now see the immediate change in benchmark result whenever you change a number... so much better for fine-tuning cars. Gear ratio graph needs serious fix though, the chart acts up like crazy when I try to change settings.

Tiresome, I think you can say that about all online games. I've muted the speech from the other players, that's already one problem solved. And you are right, there a lot of players trying to spoil the fun from the other drivers. But there an option 'vote to kick' and sometimes it actually works. Whish we had that option in real life traffic :-D

Racing/sports games seem to bring out the absolute worst in people though. I can play COD and other games online, but put me in a driving or sport game and I'm rage quitting in 30 seconds.

Something about these kinds of games causes people to glitch, cheat, or ram their way to the top. In Forza, every top time in the events where you go against slower traffic are set by people who backed up and blocked traffic and then ran a fast lap.

Was playing Assetto Corsa and fook knows what happened. Sounds like the gear box may have went :(

What a cool surprise, I'm doing better in cockpit view. Normally I need to see the vehicle to safely navigate a course but with the race line and assists helping me greatly I can actually race from inside the car which is great. It gives a great sense of speed and immersion.

It does get some time to be used to cockpit view, but once you play in cockpit view, you will not go back to play 3rd person view. Personal experience.

You have the "Lead for 1000 miles in multiplayer races" achievement. You must have raced more than just a couple???

Nah, you can do that alone against a single Drivatar in drag race. For some reason every drag race counts as leading for triple the miles that it should. It's like a glitch.

I play the hood view which I think gives a more realistic field of view. I like being close to the ground like that, I actually have an easier time avoiding cars and not oversteering.

I hate the hood view. I use either cockpit - use this 90% of the time if available - or bumper view. Although the latter tends to make me sleepy .

Yep. They really should have launched with a new motorstorm.

Drive Club was supposed to be their launch racer but its been delayed.

As for Forza, man I've been having a lot of fun racing through the different classes. I'm currently using a 2004 Lancer evo and its such a rocket around the tracks. I'm also really impressed with the accessibility of this racer. It seems it can be as deep or simple as you want it to be with all the driver assists and quick upgrade option if you don't feel like or are unable to tinker yourself.

There are a few things which do disappoint. Like there seems to be a way overabundance of microtransactions in this game. Sure, they are optional but it seems way over done here. And I already seem to have raced through all the available tracks. I'm still having fun going through them and as soon as I get a new car that brings new life to the tracks previously raced through. But I thought I remember people bragging about how Forza racers offer such a rich experience and this game does but I think it needs more tracks to compliment its large stable of cars and racing options. Maybe since this is a launch title its been rushed a bit. Its still awesome.

I've never been able to get into cockpit view due to all the screen clutter, feels claustrophobic to me. I keep trying it because so many rave about it, but I just can't get used to it. I love how it looks, but hood cam just seems more functional (imo, of course). Cockpit makes me feel like I'm sitting in the back seat to be honest.

Be sure to try out the reverse version of the tracks too. The change in perspective and track layout make most of them feel totally different. You are right though, this version is micro-transaction heavy and track light. I heard a rumor that Nurburgring will be coming as free dlc, but not positive. I also hope they have more than that coming, and soon.

AWD....dude. Put that bitch wagon down and grab yourself a RWD ride :D

as for tracks. It has been an issue for new and old fans. This forza has less tracks than in previous games, but people are hoping for track DLC ( I do not see it happening) but it is what it is.

B!tch Wagon, hahaha.

I also own the Nissan 370Z (which I think is RWD) but its a little squirly and unstable when I apply power coming out of a turn. I'll give it another try.

I didn't know about the tracks in reverse, thanks. I also hope we get more tracks via DLC.

Variance likes the 370Z. Maybe you should see if he has some tips..... I would suggest Maybe stiffening up the rear anti-roll bar and/or softening the rear suspension and/or adding positive camber to the rear. All that should combat oversteer which sounds like you're right on the edge of.
