Penello: Microsoft will talk about Xbox One's architecture "very soon"

Why are we still playing semantic games? When they say "we upgraded", they mean the upclocks. Why does it have to be any more complicated than that? Why do we have to keep looking so hard for the image of the Madonna in a grease spatter? Have none of you heard of Occam's Razor?

Oh, and "a couple of weeks ago", they would not have and COULD not have pulled a switcheroo on the chips to stick something more powerful in there. PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE given all that has to happen with testing and such. The upgrades are the upclocks. No mystery, no secret agenda.

Why, people? Seriously?

Let's break this down then. the word "upgrade" and the word "CPU". So if it isn't the Jaguar then what is it, because any change of CPU type or added/removed cores, would require massive rewrites of game code right before launch. So we know that the Jaguar was not upgraded, but we do know if was upclocked.

Take it from there.

It's probably something incredibly pointless and not worth mentioning if that QA was anything to go buy. I'm not sure why they bother with those things, they never actually say anything we haven't heard before.

Well, sure, that one NDA maybe. But my anonymous inside source told me there was another secret NDA that hadn't yet been revealed, shortly after having been turned into a newt. (Full disclosure: "A newt? He got better.")
 
Nevertheless, wasn't this MisterX guy's super megaton dGPU specs supposed to be revealed after Sept 30th?

really!!!

we know Xbox is by far the weaker system and is harder to develop games on than the other console. so from a gaming point of view, there is nothing MS can reveal about the Xbox ONE hardware that will enable it to be seen in as good a light as the far more powerful (and easier to dev for) PS4.

Oh yes, because there can't possible be anything about the X1 that hasn't be revealed yet that would be beneficial to consumers :crazy:

Well, whatever the actual specs are should be common knowledge, if not already, then soon. Microsoft is taking their console on a worldwide tour, and will be touting ALL of it's goodness. It's already good enough for me..

So are we all done with the Xbox One hardware rumors, volcano's, earthquakes, 720's, and special sauce stuff? I assume we got it all now?
 
It's interesting that they seem to be changing their approach to all of this. Instead of focusing on the technical details, they're showcasing the practical entertainment and gaming benefits of the tech.

This is much more interesting/relevant information to me anyway. I couldn't care less about flops and clocks.

No. Not until we see the APU, which hasn't been shown, nor has a detailed diagram been public either. Simple as that.

Edit: Until that time, I agree with Old Guy, Occam's Razor and all. Also, a beefier GPU is not required for MS to compete with Sony. I'll take hardware engineers over a middle of the road dev as an architect any day of the week. Just sayin', it ain't over yet
