Official Thread Playstation VR

PS5 VR is going to look like real life.
I realize that this is a bit hyperbolic, but I think it's kind of awesome to think that we are probably a couple headset generations away from just that, so the power to run those type of displays will probably be there too... Throw in some tactile feedback and an immersion rig, and things get real interesting. This isn't a setup that most people will probably own, but it will be worth paying to use somewhere. Using one will quite literally be like being in an alternate reality.

I'm a sucker for games with a sense of speed in VR, regular games fail so hard in comparison. I'll try this out first, but looks fun and mindless.

From London Heist Devs, looks like full locomotion follow up or spin-off.

London Heist has possibly been my favorite experience so far. I skipped it initially, then I remembered your recommendation. That developer really nailed the character interaction in surprising ways. Their performance capture is seriously amazing, and you really feel like you're right there with these characters, even in the parts that tell the story, it's like living inside the cut scene. The shooting is really fun, too! I wouldn't mind if they added a bit of Super Hot slomo.

They definitely deserve a full game! This (and it sounds like Farpoint) will be the games that VR skeptics need to try before writing off VR.

Now bring on the definitive, 60fps, most immersive console version of skyrim. Can't wait to get stuck on missions and wait for patches, now in VR!

Doom VR AIM controller is confirmed for PSVR. People that have used this device know how huge this is. Think Farpoint movement in doom., aiming down sights, full locomotion. I saw a quick snippet of the visuals and they looked great.

New Skyrim VR build impressions, still months old build, but fresher than what we've seen from E3.

Takeaways

+Controls are far improved and offer alot of options
+Butter smooth framerate(first time on console we get a 60fps)
+Dualshock controls work wonderfully

-Not on the visual level of the remaster(twice the framerate)
-Some of the menus still need work

I didn't expect this:

The fact that I was actually playing Skyrim and not just a watered down iteration sunk in when I opened up the map screen during my latest demo. Rather than just panning across a flat map like you do in the base game, in Skyrim VR you actually get to fly across the world, Google Earth VR style, and choose your destination that way. Zooming over to the tip of the Throat of the World or any of the other amazing locations with an eagle eye view, only to then fast travel down to them was exhilarating. It’s a whole new way of seeing the land of Skyrim through the lenses of a VR headset.

Nice! Glad that rumor turned out to be true.

Man, PSVR is really getting the games, now. That utterly ridiculous FUD about VR failure that has been laid on so thick by the internet know-it-alls and click bait YouTube-ers, seems to be fading a little bit every day, and they will soon be the ones that are forgotten. There seems to be this strong belief that you can convince people on the internet that something will fail just because you want it to. FVCK THAT! This is clearly part of a new movement forward, and won't go away simply because some people want to stand by their prediction from 3 years ago, and fight till their death to defend it. Now VR is finally getting the content it deserves, and Sony is leading the charge right now.

This is far from a dying fad. Microsoft just jumped in, on the PC side. They also promised to jump in on the Xbox side when they get the "living room" figured out, and they even have 343i officially making content. Both Google and Apple have new products in the works, as well. VR has never been so solid! Expect big numbers for PSVR this holiday!

I agree! The crappy thing is all the people left in the fog of "VR is a gimmick" listening to others don't know about how much its improved recently especially.

Watching the livestream of skyrim, they actually nailed the movement. That was my biggest concern.

Am I bad for thinking VR was another Kinect like mistake? Most of it's games seem very simple, & short... It reminds me of Kinect's library

Kinect was largely to undercut the Wii and make money which it did. It was never meant to be genuinely the next step in videogame interaction.

The issue with VR is no-ones prepared to make a big budget VR only game. And a non VR VR game is just a first person game, so why would they?

There' s no need to. VR enhances first-person games ten fold. They can just use existing technology. They don't work with all of them, but games like Skyrim and Doom are showing they can work with most. The controls schemes are evolving around the first person games through innovation.

Also Doom VFR is not the same game as Doom on ps4/Xbox one. Its an exclusive game only in VR, i would wager thats pretty big budget and obviously, they believe in the tech or else they could have used all that money for something else.

Cool preview, you can tell the guy has little experience with the game and new controls, but he does ok.

That moment at the end of video when he's staring at the ground and sky. It looks like complete sh1t watching on a video, but VR users know exactly the feeling he is having. It cannot be described effectively.

I cannot wait for this, what a time to be a gamer.

That it's absolutely correct. There will be a good number of VR exclusives, but for making a big budget title, it's way easier to leverage existing first person games, like Bethesda it's doing with their big 3 franchises. 343i has pretty much hinted that they are doing this with halo 6... It was obviously successful for RE7, as well.

While it's true that you cannot just slap VR headset compatibility and call it VR, the idea of having first person AAA framework to tweak is great because it's already been perfected on a 2D screen to start out with. You just have to find a balance on how that translates to VR. Translating this is sometimes a better compromise than starting a new game, with with fresh artwork and assets. All of those games listed above will probably have very different methods of control, and some will even have different control scheme options available within the game. This is awesome! .... Side note, I really hope that Microsoft takes note of the Aim controller and makes something similar for Halo (but mostly tracked by the headset). That would just be bananas!

Free PSVR games incoming

November PS+: Bound (PS4/PS VR) Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (PS Plus bonus – PS VR)

Both great games in my opinion. If you House of the Dead type games Rush of Blood is the next generation version of it.

1v1 added with AI teammates along with new weapons.

FARPOINT - VERSUS EXPANSION PACK - UPDATE 1.08

Announcing the Versus Expansion Pack — This free update brings the most requested user feature, by far, player vs player to Farpoint. The Versus Expansion Pack supports 1v1 gameplay with different enemy AI teammates that the player can spawn and use strategically to gain an advantage.

There are two PvP game modes, Deathmatch and Uplink. In Uplink, communication relays are dropped into the play area that the player must capture and hold to gain points. Killing the other player and enemy AI will also award points.

For both Deathmatch and Uplink, it is a round based system. You need to win 2 out of 3 rounds on each map to be declared the winner. Each round takes place in a different/separate area of the map so you need to learn the layout of each area to master a map. 3 new PvP maps (with 3 areas each) are included in the Versus Expansion Pack.

In addition to the PvP game mode, the following new features are included in the Versus Expansion Pack:

•Player XP progression system with unlockable skins

•Weapon XP progression system with 15 new weapons to unlock.

•Chaos difficulty Co-Op games are significantly more chaotic.

•Easily crouch while sitting using the crouch button toggle.

•New turning comfort settings (yes, they can all be disabled).

•New trophies.

•Various bug fixes and improvements.

Stay tuned for more updates leading up to rele

I'm sure you've posted this, de3d, but I liked this one. I hear it's going to be a full-length game. It looks pretty fun to me. Blood and Truth.

They said they want to make it like a AAA game.

He did, and do yourself a favor; as soon as you get your PSVR and get everything set up correctly, get the London Heist demo. That is the demo prequel to this full game. It's a really cool experience, and really gave me a new concept of what VR can do. I can't wait to see how they pull of of this into a full game. It's going to be like being inside a Rockstar-quality game, imo.

Yeah, London Heist looks like a great demo.
