Raid Stories

Completing the raid on hard is why I know it will be some time before I can even hope to get the fatebringer pistol. I wasn't a believer in hand cannons until I got the Lord High Fixer and Last Word. And now with the Hawkmoon I'm a strong advocate for them.

I think you'll like the Titan. It plays very different from the Warlock and has a lot of handy abilities in both primary and subclass. I want to create a Hunter but I'm still busy with the two classes I already have. I think I'll wait until the DLC drops and then start it. I got a drop for legendary Hunter boots that I'm saving and I hope I can get a full set of armor before starting that class.

I think a lot of people miss the point of this game. Yeah, its grindy with limited content. But its very similar to a game like Diablo where you are expected to replay content. But what makes replaying that content fun is doing so as you gradually become more powerful. I get a lot of fun out of stuff like that. Where once a particular level or enemy gave me trouble but as time went by my character got stronger and was able to take on more challenge. But the complaints about the story or lack thereof are legit.

It's not that hard actually. You just need to cheese the templar part and you will have a chance to get the fatebringer.

Yeah I'm starting off with the defender subclass just so I can use it for the raid. Liking the ward of dawn a lot especially in the crucible!

Ward of Dawn is awesome for Control matches. :bang:

I got the Light/Beware fusion rifle with Solar damage and its awesome. It tears off a Wizard's shield in one shot. And I purchased the Swarm machinegun with Void damage. I think its better than Zombie Apocalypse because of its stability. Now I'm not left with crappy weapons while using a exotic primary. Actually I have lots more to choose from now. :hehe:

Corrective Measure seems to be the best machinegun, it's from the raid. I have it but I also like the Zombie Apocalypse.

Going to get plan C and armamentarium. My Titan is level 19.5 so I'll get him to 26 hopefully soon before the reset so I can do the raid on normal and hopefully get some raid gear for him.

Just completed the raid on normal for my titan... got no raid gear...

I've still only gotten the same 2 weapons over and over again in my raids. No armor either.

If it wasn't for that iron banner 2.0 last week I would have probably given up on this game.

Really just depends on luck. It took forever to get my hunter raid gears but like less than a week for my warlock. We'll see how long it takes for the titan. I already have 3 exotic pieces so hopefully just need 3 raid gears.

I'm working on the most challenging exotic bounty I've come across so far. First I had to kill 500 Hive enemies on the Moon. No big deal. Then I had to get 500 points by killing other Guardians in the Crucible. But the catch was that I could only use weapons with Void damage to do it. One kill is 5 pts and a death subtracts 2 pts. Took a few hours but as a Warlock it wasn't too difficult. I thought that was it but now a special Summon Pits strike has to be completed and its like a Nightfall. Knights have heavy Arc shields and there are more Wizards than Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

All this for the Thorn pistol. It better be worth it.

Popped my Raid cherry last night. What a frustrating and fun experience. Sadly we couldn't finish it but I can now see why so many people like doing it.

Its fun the first few times. But I found the raid overstays itself. It goes on for way too long and sucks the fun out of it. Its like the Summoning Pits strike. I really liked it at first. But Phogoth (last boss) has way too much HP and the battle rages for far too long. I need to raid again soon. I still don't have any raid armor. But the game is still a lot of fun to me. Especially when I get a new weapon.

Yeah, they are going to buff the Thorn soon. It should be worth it.

I didn't know it was underpowered. I used it for a strike and it ripped through enemies. But that's not a good way to judge since the enemies were a couple levels lower than I was. But it looks and sounds really cool. I can't wait to unlock the perk that adds damage over time. I''m not sure how good this pistol will be in the Crucible. Its slow fire rate and small clip size might not make it good for competitive matches.

You have to have good aim. One headshot and 2 body hits will do it with the lingering damage perk.

Finally got my first Raid. I tell you its a long process to complete. Picked up a plan c weapon.
by far the best fusion rifle in the game. Good pick up. Completed my 22 raid last night and finally got the fatebringer. however I can't complain too much because I know people that I play with that have completed it more times then I and still don't have full raid gear. Smh. Figures I would finally get that right before the new raid comes out. Ugh

I beat the Vault of Glass on hard for the first time. I played through it twice, once with each of my 2 Titans. When we beat Atheon my first time it gave me 2 of the Titan raid helmets for whatever reason. On my second Titan I got the Vex.

Nice, I tried for the Vex and Fatebringer last week but didn't get either. I hope one of them drops for me during my next attempt with my two characters.

Myself and U2 played the Crota raid last night. Unfortunately we couldn't defeat Crota but I did get the chest armor for the Warlock which looks awesome. I don't understand why Bungie won't add matchmaking for everything and yet they endorse the various websites that put people together. Those sites are like a poor man's version of matchmaking.

Whats kinda weird is that I had never played through the VoG with my second Titan on any difficulty. Got the Vex first time. Went through it with my Warloack after my Titans and got a Gjally. I hadn't beaten the raid on any difficulty with it either.:really:

Timing, and communication is what makes or breaks the fight against Crota. Have you guys beaten Crota legit yet?

Yea, matchmaking would get a lot more people through the raids. I had already quit playing the VoG because getting players together was a pain. As a matchmaking option surely people would understand what they are getting into, as long as there was a description of what a player is about to get themselves into.

It seems to be random for VoG but Mangoes said the Crota raid is supposed to keep track of your rewards and give you what you haven't received yet. Why Bungie didn't push those changes over to the VoG raid is confusing. One of many confusing decisions that I feel stops this game from being even better. Ohh well, already hooked.

As for Crota we got a good chunk of his health down. But something always messed up and we would wipe. Keep in mind it was the first time for two of us. But now that we know what to do I think things might go better next time. The Crota raid seems shorter than the VoG raid which is good. I feel VoG goes on for way too long.

Crotas End is quiet a bit shorter than the VoG. There are only 4 parts to CE, while the VoG has 8 I think. I did CE in around 45 minutes last week. But that was with the Totem cheese, and Crota cheese.

Ive beaten Crota legit a couple times though. We used the left side strategy(fighting from the room left of the Summoning Crystal) both times Ive beaten it legit. Two people sniping "boomers" in the left side tower, and bridge(Icebreaker works miracles in this part). Three killing mobs, and Swordbearer. The sword guy carries the Chalice while attacking Crota, and returns to the left side after two or three sword slams on Crota(three max). The trick is communicating the moment of Crotas shield going down with the person carrying the sword so he can hit Crota the second his shield drops. You got to do that near flawlessly several times. If Crota moves to the right, everyone needs to jump down into the middle room that you spawn in in the Deathsinger part. When he returns to the middle, kill the Swordbearer, and start the process over again. Also, after Crota takes so much damage, Ogres will spawn. As soon as they are spotted, everyone should make a beeline for that lower middle room and kill them from there. Rinse and repeat til Crotas dead.

I'm sooo close to Lvl 31 (need to upgrade my exotic helmet) then I'm going to start raiding.

Might get sidetracked by Halo 5 though the next couple of days.
