Rise of the Tomb Raider announced for PC (Early 2016) and PS4 (Holiday 2016)

Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch for PC (Windows 10) via Steam in early 2016 and for PlayStation 4 in holiday 2016, Square Enix announced.

The game will premiere first for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, this year. The PlayStation 4 version will arrive one year after its initial launch.

Good. Now that question is put to rest.

I am actually surprised that they announced it now. It was obvious it would happen but you would think they would launch the X1 version before announcing anything.

Some people here are going to have to eat some serious crow on this one

We knew this was going to happen. Hopefully we can have civil discussion here without this turning into a vs thread.
Will this happen? Probably not.

However, before anybody starts to talk about 'well I'll wait for the better version' mambo jumbo I'll just preempt it all by saying.
The PC version will be the best version. End of story.

There I said it. Everybody needs to deal with it. The game will be glorious on all platforms though.

Yup everyone knew it.

I''ll wait for the definitive version (PC).

You PC gamers better hope this game doesn't turn out like Arkham Knight did.

I will still be getting the definitive version on day one (Xbox One).

Going off topic here.....
I have the game on PC (LOL got it for free thankfully) and it runs very well..(I'm running it off an SSD with an i7 4790k & GTX 980 ti overclocked 20% though).
The game has a really bad memory leak and will eat up fierce amounts of RAM. Developer incompetence is really the reason. 99% of multiplatform games are better on PC and even when they run sluggishly you have more tools to mitigate the problem and a community of modders that crack ini files to restore performance. AK already has a fix made by the PC community to fix performance issues.

/back on topic.

You sure about that?

About the duration of the exclusivity, yeah. About whether it's coming to PS4, yeah.

Not saying it'll end platform warrioring, of course. There is no time-limited duration on that.

That Batman game is the exception to the rule. I'd say over 98% of games on pc are fine, very few are broken as bad as batman was.

Well most of us knew it wasn't really exclusive, a year wait for PS4 is longer than I thought, I figured it'd be about 6 months but at least now it's officially announced.

I really don't get how any of this was handled, first of all there was no reason for it to be exclusive to any platform, the series just started to make a big comeback so they decided to go with timed exclusivity on Xbox when the series has ALWAYS sold better on Playstation? And now they announce that it's coming to PC and PS4 which most of us knew it would but they announce it months before the game even ships on the X1? what's the point of the exclusivity then? it won't sway many people to buy an X1 if they don't already have one now that they know for sure that they can wait a while and play it on something they already have. Not only that but a year later I'm guessing the PS4 version will probably have some DLC or something included to make up for the wait. This whole thing seems like one bad decision after another.

I see a lot of people surprised that the exclusivity period against the PS4 is "so long." They expected it to just be 3 to 6 months. That would've put it up against Uncharted, though, or at least in the vicinity, which would make no sense. Besides, like others have said, MS sunk a lot of money into it, talked as if it was first-party, compared it to other games that never appeared on PS4 (Phil being a bit sneaky there, I think) -- no way it was going to appear in just a few months. I expected it to be longer than a year, myself.

I also see people downplaying it, like it'll be worthless in a year, no one will care at that point, no one will buy it. Is it suddenly not a good game, because you're playing it a year later? People are weird.

Yeah most seemed to think it would be 6 months.

Surprised MS didn't try to keep this out till next year.

My initial thought of 6 months was due to the fact that when this deal was announced Uncharted was still scheduled for Holiday 2015.

Yeah, that would make more sense, if that were the case.
