Multi-Platform Star Wars: Battlefront, putting the fun back into online shooters.

See what happens. I figured this would be a polarizing game. If you love Stars Wars movies and also the games then this is up your alley. I can't totally see people buying into this game when they play 5 minutes of it at the Best Buy booth or see it demoed. Commercials and marketing should be stellar because it does have that initial look at me sugar rush.

Yup, I have read a few now and it is a stinker. But I think they at least have the foundation for a new one now, so we could probably see a decent release in two years.

It's a save your money release now.
I figured it wouldnt be the smash hit people were expecting just from the Beta. I played it maybe an hour or so. It was fun but I could tell it wouldnt be a vice or anything.

Any examples of these reviews? The game is tons of fun. I've been playing since Friday. Is it deep? Innovative? Setting the bar for future FPS games? Nope. It is just plain fun.

Also, the game works 100% out of the box, which should not give them any special credit but in today's world is a rare thing.

Sometimes, keeping things simple is ok. I've put 10 hours into it already and so far am far from bored. Will I be playing this for months and months? Probably not. Still I don't see how this is much different from the other generic shooters coming out.

Its a fun but shallow game with little content. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone after the beta.

The more I hear people bash it the more excited I get. Hopefully this game steers all the good players away.

All I know is I installed the BF Companion app and this morning woke up to like 20 notifications that friends were playing this game. :hehe:

Seems like a pretty, but brainless, shallow shooter and you know what? There's nothing wrong with having those types of games.

On my list of 200 friends, you and 2 others are the only ones showing having played it

I would totally buy this game, if it weren't for EA Access timer being completely silly and telling me I still have 9 hours of trial left.

I'm still debating.... PC or Xbox One?

It looks so much better on PC, I'm a bit better at playing on PC.

On the other hand, achievements, all of my friends, voice-chat, sound-bar, big ass tv, comfy controller, etc etc for my Xbox One.

Tough call. I would consider double-dipping, but season pass makes that sound like a terrible idea.

Don't you get 10% off when you have EA Access for the Xbox One version?

They nailed the Star Wars presentation, but there is definitely a lack of content. Im thinking probably a 9 or 10 for casual gamers, and a 7 for gamers with an appetite. There is no denying the presentation though. There are moments of awe if you are a SW fan.

Now I'm glad my local best buy had no copies for PC.

But they did have two XBO pip-boy editions, so I bought those to flip.

What would people consider to be a "deep" fps game that has come out in the past 6 months or so? I pray Rainbox 6 is good.

I get the criticisms totally, I'm just not seeing a whole lot better in the fps realm right now.

I feel bad having this early. Noobs must not even have played the beta, because they don't know not to shoot the walkers except at a certain time.

Absolutely. I'm not a shooter fan but to hear the reports that the hardcore shooter fans don't like it actually makes it more tempting for me to buy the game. It sounds to me that if I were to buy a shooter this would be the one up my alley and I bet there are many others who feel the same. Casual shooter with some luck to help out from time to time may be a pretty large niche. Having the Star Wars license puts it over the top for interest.

My brother who hasn't had a game system since a PS1/OG XBox heard about this game and is going to buy a PS4 just to get this game. For some of you here that may think I am an MS fanboy (despite owning and playing both) may be surprised that it was me that recommended he went with PS4 because of the simpler system OS and I am using it more than my X1.

traitor.

Good luck to your brother with the game. Not every game is for everyone. There are certainly many games who score 7-8 review wise I hold as personal classics. Many 9+ games review wise don't interest me either.

Yep. That is the joy of opinions. One man's trash is another man's masterpiece.

Played for 4 hours and had an absolute blast. I think they've made it a little easier for the rebels in walker assault. We didn't loose one match last night, even as the rebels on Hoth. Although that one went right to the wire.

Yeah, it was nearly impossible to win as the Rebels on Hoth during the beta.

It actually seems a lot harder as the empire now. I'm finding it too hard to win as the empire now. Hopefully things get more even as the noobs catch on.

Rebel scum... :txbmad:

Yeah. I think by virtue of them making it a little easier for the rebels, they have made it harder for the empire. It seems like they have made reduced the armor on the AT-ATs. I can't think of anything else. They haven't added more bomber checkpoints or increased the duration of the bomber runs. I guess maybe they might tweaked the amount of time an AT-AT is vulnerable.

One thing I have noticed. The Empire starfighters are out classed by the rebel ones. I know they are faster but that lack of armor makes the Tie Fighter feel like a paper plane. Of course I'm just a terrible pilot either way so there is that.

I find that as the empire there's just too many threats to stop. You not only have to try to prevent at least one uplink from working, you need to work on eliminating turrets as well. Even then the rebels can use things like the pulse cannon to take a few big chunks of the walkers.

It just seems that the rebels can just sit back and wait for the empire.

I was surprised at first by the reviews, having played the game quite a bit, but then realized that the reviews are aimed at gamers and most "gamers" are going to put this up against COD or RB6 and bemoan the lack of maps and unlockable weapons. Not a game for the hardcore shooter fans, but it's undeniably fun if you just want something to pick up and play without having to stress over optimal builds and intricate knowledge of each map. The presentation is top notch - animations, sound, graphics quality - all outstanding. Looking at some of the cutscenes on the single player standalone missions makes we wish that they had taken another year and put a coherent single-player campaign in it. I would have bought the game just for that.

3 hours until unlock, this is gonna be great. had to watch a bunch of streams last night to get my fill

I went complete 180 on this game. When it was previewed all the way up to the beta I wasn't that interested and didn't enjoy the beta. Decided to get EA Access just to give the game a shot and absolutely love it right now. So much fun.
