The Official E3 2017 Thread

You're incorrect. Phil said it was entirely possible he could announce a AAA game due to release this year, Forza 7 hasn't been announced yet and should be racer of the year. Minecraft 2 as well is a possibility (though id put that down for next year).

Shinobi hasn't really leaked anything for Xbox in Years the last information he gave relating to XB1 was QB's delay.

Insiders have been s*** TBH.

Scorpio devkits were out for months and not a peep on the specs aside from what we knew last E3
Dead Rising 4 came out of nowhere
Halo Wars 2 came out of nowhere
Gigantic? Ori and the blind forest? Not telegraphed at all
Recore...remember when it was a 2019 title because all there was was a CGI trailer
Killer Instinct revival by Double Helix, who predicted that?
Exclusive from Crytek? No one saw that coming in 2011
Back Compat came out of nowhere.
Sunset Overdrive...the trademark to insomniac leaked, no one knew what it was or who was publishing
Quantum Break ...people suspected Alan Wake 2
Mass Effect, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey out of nowhere

Aside from the quad fecta HaloforzagearsCraft, every things tabula rasa.

Hands up who guessed Hotwheels DLC for Horizon 3?

And of course Team Dakota and Turn 10 didnt exist until they announced their games and 343i didn't exist for until 2010, people thought Gearbox was going to take over.
I predict there will be FIFA 18. Bookmark this post. :D

It goes to show these "insiders" have hardly any connections. Or the contacts they have just have tight lips.

If someone really was an insider, and had access to tons of info to tell gamers, surely they could squeeze out info from any of these sources which total 1,000s and 1,000s of employees.

- First party (MS, Sony, Ninty, and all their studios)
- Third party
- Retailers (HQ and stores) who know what's coming out down the line
- Wholesalers who know what's coming and supply all the smaller stores
- Advertising companies who are working on stuff ready for launch
- All the marketing companies who help game makers sell games and systems.... demo/kiosk builders, all the companies that do posters and print, etc...
- Any company that helps make the game.... disc, hardware, plastic case, etc....
- Any website who gets early info (such DF getting early access to Scorpio specs)
- All the actors and actresses who do voice work

So out of all these employees, all the so-called "insiders" can't get some info here and there?

Oh my bad. I stand corrected then. :)

So it's entirely possible that they have something similar to DR4? Or maybe actually a third party full on exclusive then. E3 definitely should have some nice stuff incoming. You brought a good point about how little actually has leaked in the past. Here I thought it was mostly only BC that had not been leaked. Well good! I want things to surprise me there :)

Yes its possible and even likely, but not hugely necessary.

End of this year looks to be Crackdown 3, Forza 7, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and probably another Killer Instinct season

Which easily trumps GT Sport, Knack 2 and Uncharted DLC.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if they either release Sea of Thieves as a Game Preview game although that would be the first first party game to do that or it will be delayed. Unless they are keeping a lot of stuff from the players of the alpha there really isn't a whole lot yet. I am hoping they are indeed keeping a lot from the players and saving it for E3.

As for Sony, don't they have God of War for this year too? They could also announce a release date for the already announced games at E3 as well. But yeah I agree, Microsoft's offerings for later this year aren't bad at all. :)

SoT is already in a somewhat open beta.

God of War should be out in March 2018 with no delays, so expect it in July.

God of War is clearly close to being done but they always come out in March so nobody really knows. We could end up seeing something like Detroit instead. At this point its clear it doesn't matter when their games release so they aren't going to rush anything to meet the holidays.

I think that lineup for X1 in the fall is fine although the overall lineup for the year isn't too great. My guess is something new is announced for this year and SoT comes out early next year.

I'll still be playing all the PS4 exclusives that have already come out this year.

Reports saying the new Arkham game has been rebooted so that won't be at E3 if true.

I thought Hot Wheels DLC was likely due to MS getting a deal for Forza 6.

I don't know . I'm a big Forza fan but the series has grown a bit stale with its lackluster campaign and track dayesque online racing.

I do like the more core racingg direction of GT Sport.

Are you sure Crackdown 3 is this year? Forza 7 is a given, they keep churning those out like butter. Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer only game, which you said yourself isn't a big game because it's not a complete experience, and State of Decay 2 is an indie, not a big budget game.

So how does that trump GT Sport, which looks like it's going to be the best racing game this gen. Knack 2, Uncharted: Lost Legacy and potentially Days Gone, and Detroit: Become Human? Not sure what you're going on about. Sony has the better lineup of games. It's really not even close.

Nah, Sony's line up for 2017 is dismal. Not only has no date been announced for Detroit or Days Gone, but not even a YEAR has been announced. They are listed at TBA for release dates. So that leaves some DLC (more milking of the Uncharted franchise), Knack 2, a follow up to the 5/10 metacritic rated Knack 1, and a GT7 prologue with no career mode.

Even IF Days Gone, Detroit do make it out, and IF we see Ashen, Sea of Thieves, Tacoma, Below, Crackdown 3, Forza Motorsport 7, Gigantic, Cuphead, State of Decay 2 and Phantom Dust come out on Xbox this year, it's a no brainer to go with the Xbox line up if you only can have one console. Sony does the same thing every year. Has no games late summer/fall and winter, then pumps out a few in the spring.

Crackdown has a confirmed 2017 date. It will be interesting to see how F7 will compare to GT Sport given the content differential.

SoT can be played alone. Its like the Division.

Uncharted and killer instinct are dlc sold at retail and id say State of Decay 2 and Knack 2 have the same production values.

Sony could have more games ready (not days gone, dreams would be a better contender) but based on their usual dela....i mean spreading the lineup out they need to give dates. We know all their games up to september.

Im just guessing.

It is only"not even close" when you thow in potential games like Detroit & Days Gone. But if you want to play the potential game then RDR2 could be xbox exclusive #PS4is dead #Micdrop #WinnerWinnerChickenDinner.

As of rightnow it is a toss up as to which lineup is better....But for me, SOD2 and Forza 7 trumps just GT Sport.

Crackdown really should be a given for many reasons. One the developers have been tweeting quite a bit this year that they can't wait to start talking and showing the game and recently someone asked them if it was still coming this year and they confirmed it.

And since it's been a long ass time that we heard or saw anything, this HAS to be their year and E3 THE moment to show something awesome. Furthermore State of Decay 2 may be a smaller budget title than Crackdown but it does have a larger budget than the first one, a new engine and a much bigger map too. Would not surprise me if they will bring this as a big budget title.

Sea of Thieves remains to be seen. I am hoping they show a whole lot more at E3 and that the alpha we've been seeing/playing is very old actually. Because there just isn't a lot yet. And who knows, maybe Moon Studios announces their new game with a surprise release date for later this year. For Microsoft's show I don't have high expectations, just normal ones. But I would love to be surprised. I'm hoping they will announce a few new titles for next year, that they announce Japanese games like Nier coming to Xbox now too as a result of that visit to Japan. Plus that Phil said Japanese games would be coming to Xbox after that visit.

You people need to learn to stop taking the bait

Well they were always coming. X1 does have lots of Japanese games now.

Do we? Can't really recall that many so far. I mean we missed out on Nier Automata, Nioh (or is Sony exclusive?), Persona 5 (even though we never had that on Xbox, who knows what happens now that he visited them.... If hé visited Atlus.) we're sadly missing out on Ni No Kuni 2 even though PC DOES get it. I am forgetting several now probably.

FF15 and Resident Evil 7 for example

PS4 will always have the advantage but Spencer can work to decrease that. Certainly a game like Nioh has a good size audience that would buy that game on X1.

Ah yes. I forgot about FF15 and Resi 7. Good call. I just looked Nioh up, sadly Sony published that one worldwide. I guess it is their game then. The whole Nier thing sucks. Before the game was finished they said a Xbox version could happen if it sold good enough on PS4, but then shortly before release they said there was no market for it on Xbox. And thus wasn't happening. But I disagree. In Japan there clearly is no market for it but what about the west?

But who knows what Phil's visit may have changed. He did tweet that even though he knew he said it before that more JP games really would come to Xbox. Maybe E3 is the time for that. :) I'd love to get a game like Ni No Kuni 2 on it. It's published by Bandai Namco and they have a good business relationship.

I would have assumed Nier would have done a lot worse then it has so I can understand that

Nier is a great game IMO, and would appeal to Xbox gamers in the west if they enjoy playing good games.

There was a Nier game on Xbox 360. It sold poorly on all platforms.

No clue if they are the same series.

I heard of the Nier game on the 360, but I never played it. Never heard of it until this one came out. I wouldn't mind going back to play the original if they made it BC and digital.

If Sony's lineup for 2017 is dismal then Microsoft's lineup is on life support. Pull the plug, i'm ready. Sorry, i just don't really see any of those games you mentioned making it this year. Crackdown 3 could get pushed back and end up canceled for all we know with all the shady business going on at Microsoft recently. For a financially secure company, they sure are struggling to get games out.

As far as Days Gone, Sony basically confirmed it's coming this year. Same for Detroit. GT Sport is ready to take back the racing crown. Not that they ever really lost it, they just took a break. What else we got. That Uncharted DLC that you speak of. Sucks when a DLC can be sold as a full game and score better and sell better than three of Xbox's biggest franchises combined huh. Then again Halo 5 was basically a DLC with it's crap story, hopefully Xbox fans will get a full game next time around.

Well if Microsoft's is on life support, that puts Sony's at 6 feet under pushin' up daisies then. Time to become a PC gamer!

I'd go PC if i wanted the true Xbox experience. Exclusives and powerful hardware with Scorpio but even better on PC. No need though, Xbox One S is good enough for Gears 4 and the other niche titles that come to Xbox that i enjoy.

I already have enough games to catch up with on PS4. Still haven't played Ratchet & Clank, The Last Guardian, Horizon, Nioh, Nier, and now with the best holiday lineup in history it's going to be even harder to find time to play all these games.
