Jez Corden from Windows Central apparently confirmed Minecraft will be at Microsoft's show. Not a big surprise of course but please MS, don't spend freaking 10 minutes or longer on that. We really don't need any of that to tbh, but if it does, keep it brief. None of that Hololens or VR filler please.

As for Sony......Shinobi602 saying it's going to be good..... just him expecting a great show or is he already in the know about their show?

Not sure but i'm pumped for it. Show me some God of War, Last of Us Part 2, and maybe some Death Stranding and Final Fantasy VII remake gameplay and i'm there. Oh, and i want to see Sucker Punch's new game.

Don't think it's going to be a big year surprise wise for either company but maybe even less for Sony. They laid the groundwork for what's coming the next two years. The blueprint is there, now we just need to see more of these games.

Sounds more like a general "I am excited" then one of inside knowledge. Just based alone on what we know about it should be good.

Yeah exactly. I'm sure we'll see more of Spidey too. Hell maybe they even launch the game this year. Someone from Marvel did say it was supposed to release this year irrc. One thing is for sure, when I buy a PS4 next year there will be enough to play.

Nah, Sony's line up for 2017 is dismal. Not only has no date been announced for Detroit or Days Gone, but not even a YEAR has been announced. They are listed at TBA for release dates. So that leaves some DLC (more milking of the Uncharted franchise), Knack 2, a follow up to the 5/10 metacritic rated Knack 1, and a GT7 prologue with no career mode.

Even IF Days Gone, Detroit do make it out, and IF we see Ashen, Sea of Thieves, Tacoma, Below, Crackdown 3, Forza Motorsport 7, Gigantic, Cuphead, State of Decay 2 and Phantom Dust come out on Xbox this year, it's a no brainer to go with the Xbox line up if you only can have one console. Sony does the same thing every year. Has no games late summer/fall and winter, then pumps out a few in the spring.
Remind me what Microsoft has had for exclusives so far this year.

There was a Nier game on Xbox 360. It sold poorly on all platforms.

No clue if they are the same series.
They are related but not sure exactly how much Haven't played Automata yet but supposedly there are either characters from the first Nier or at least mentions of it. I think the Drakengard series is also tied in somehow.

I'm not expecting any blockbuster surprises from Microsoft this year. If they're going to impress at E3, it going to be surprises within the games we already know about. Here's an example utilizing my own fan fiction.

Forza - track editor. More advanced physics.
State of Decay - consistent cloud based updates to your game world. Significant visual update on Scorpio.
Crackdown - cloud physics actually works
Sea of Thieves - massive additions to the gameplay - evolved combat

Ori 2

Some 3rd parties show they're using DirectX physics and they work like Nvidias PhysX. Mass Effect Andromeda demoed with special effects utilizing DirectX physics with 4K assets.

Bethesda announces next RPG will have Scorpio exclusive features such as DirectX physics and persistent AI utilizing cloud.

Any other surprises will be CGI teaser trailers...which do nothing for me.

We need some announcements. Think about it about it, if they announce nothing than that means we are getting no exclusives for the first half of 2017, and have nothing to look forward to for 2017 either.

That is hardly good for MS or the Xbox platform, or the current userbase.

I will remind you as soon as I am reminded about all the exclusives Sony has last fall and holiday while we were all playing Gears of War, Dead Rising, Forza Horizon and Recore. Oh that's right a game that flopped, The Last Guardian. Sony did the same thing the year before that and the year before that.

People forget fast.

They would have stuff for 2017 but it would be 2018 I would be worried about in that case

I believe 2017 will be about Crackdown, Forza, and State of Decay. With the 3rd parties lining up to have their biggest Fall in many years, that's all Microsoft and Xbox need. Sony may have little 1st party outside of GT as well. Anything that goes against the combo of COD WWII, Battlefront, Red Dead, Assassins Creed and Destiny 2 is bound to struggle.

1st half of 2018 I predict Ori 2, Cuphead and Sea of Thieves. Late 2018 will be Halo 6, Forza Horizon and the other stuff prob won't be announced until E3 2018. Spencer has indicated they won't be announcing games years in advance anymore. If he bends to the pressure of showing more of the future, we might see some CGI trailers.

I assume he is talking about avoid Scalebound situations which is smart but if you don't announce future games then you are going out of your way to add to the perception of Sony having better games.

I think as of this moment in time, the perception is reality. MS will have to make a lot of noise about 3rd party games playing best on Scorpio. Hopefully in 2018 they are able to gain back some confidence in their 1st party when they announce stuff at that time.

I have no problem with people preferring to hear about games closer to release but what is the value in that to Microsoft? Games aren't hurt by being at multiple E3s so why wouldn't they want to build some hype before releasing a new console?

They would also be inviting a year of "where are there games" questions

Yeah tough balance. No right answer on this one. Personally I'd like to see a middle ground between what Sony and Rockstar do. 18 months to 2 years is the right amount of time.

So you avoided my question.

I am hoping for some mega game announcements from MSFT. Games that will take advantage of Scorpio and show why we need to upgrade. I've been a bit concerned for MSFT's Xbox. They have lost a lot of momentum because of both Sony and Nintendo taking the spotlight with their offerings. I just really hope MSFT has been preparing during that time and shocks the gaming world.

So you avoided my question.
I did, because my comment was rhetorical. I said Bloodborne will be playable on PC this fall, pulling it out of my ass and making s*** up, just like people pull out their comments of of their ass that state we can play all Xbox games on PC. Nobody ever provides a link backing up their claim that every Xbox game is going to PC. Have you ever asked them for a link?

Well until otherwise it seems like all Xbox games, at least first party exclusives, will be on PC. While I would most likely just play said games on PC I still consider it an Xbox exclusive, just like PS4 games that you can play through a s***ty streaming service on PC should be considered exclusive. If it only runs on an Xbox or PS4 then it's an exclusive. You're not the only one to bring up Sony mid to end of year droughts, but at the same time plenty of Xbox only people conveniently forget the first half or more of the year where there are tons of games on the PS4. It's one thing to favor certain games. I get that. But its another to just dismiss half the year that wouldn't favor your argument of games lineup.

Phil Spencer - "We’re gonna have games only released on the PC. We’re gonna have games only released on console." So there you have it. As Phil Spencer claimed, there will be both PC and console exclusives from Microsoft. FEBRUARY 2017

Phil Spencer - "We're committed to bringing our biggest franchises to both Xbox and Windows, but it doesn't necessarily mean that every game could end up on both platforms. There could be many differences in the play space and how the games play." - MARCH 2016

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...npopular-pc-moves-and-xbox-one-evolution.aspx

Will all first-party Microsoft games release on both Windows and Xbox One moving forward?

Phil Spencer - "Certain people would love for me to say something as clean as, “all.” Ashes of the Singularity, a game we showed at Showcase for those who were there, a hardcore real-time RTS for PC, is probably not a great controller experience as it requires keyboard and mouse. If I enable keyboard and mouse on a console, which we will do, and then you download that and you’re playing it on a monitor, is that a PC game, or is that a console game? I get out of saying “all” because I think there are games that people want to play on a monitor with a keyboard and mouse and I want to be somebody that builds those games. I also think there will be games where I want to sit 10 feet away from a screen with a controller in my hand with a great sound system and I want to play those console games.

Our intent is where genres and creative makes sense in both spaces, that we’ll put the game in both spaces, and you see us doing that already. But I don’t want to make it some kind of artificial mandate because I think we end up with Franken-game that really wasn’t meant for a certain platform because some suit said, “Hey, everything’s got to run on both platforms,” you end up with something people don’t want. You should expect it when it looks like a game belongs on both platforms, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a mandate for the studio. APRIL 2016

So, apparently there is no "otherwise" when the boss already stated what IS.

It's official, Phil Spencer is wearing a Horizon Zero Dawn shirt to E3 this year for the presentation.

I probably am missing the point here. :)

Sadly chances of seeing Bethesda Game Studios' new game are becoming smaller and smaller. Seems like there will be two new games announced at Bethesda's show, Wolfie 2 and likely The Evil Within 2. Hope i am wrong about the latter, i really really want to see what BGS has been up to. The wait for their new games is going to be crazy.....not to mention The Elder Scrolls VI :(

So Crackdown 2 is a given for MS but what else? I'd love to get a date for Cuphead and Sea of Thieves and maybe 1 or 2 new IPs. Or if nothing else revive some older IPs not of the Halo, Gears and Forza family.

Nintendo's going to Nintendo, so there's that. However if they announce via a tree House or Nintendo direct show during E3, a fully realized new entry to Fire Emblem(non-re release or crossover) or Pokemon/Colosseum, I'll buy a switch immediately.

Sony I'm good. My back log with their exclusives is pretty long right now so I really don't need any more stuff to buy. But... if they could announce a sequel to The Order or a release date for the Spiderman game or Days Gone, I'd be fine.

As for the major 3rd parties:

EA: I have zero expectation. Especially given how I feel about the last Mass effect and Dragon Age

Ubisoft: OK you've done a Ghost Recon, Division and a Rainbow 6. Its TIME for Splinter Cell.

Square Enix: I know the Marvel stuff is coming and will be present but I wish Deus Ex didn't have to get shelved for it. Also maybe an new FF tactics game announced for the Switch?

I doubt we will ever see a new FF tactics again and that good too from Square Enix. The original developers of FF tactics left Square Enix and became kickstarters. In fact, theyre actually working on a game called "Unsung Hero" which is supposed to be a strategy rpg like FF tactics and last time I checked they had like 15,000 backers.

My thoughts...

Microsoft - They have to bring it, big. The main concern is their gaming catalog, which looks very sparse in comparison to Sony's. Shinobi said he's not aware of any new IP in the pipeline, but who knows. I expect at least one major new game announcement. If not, I'll be disappointed. Scorpio is pretty much a known quantity, so I don't expect any suprises there, just chest-beating and maybe some cool-looking clips of Forza and whatnot.

It's honestly the conference I'm most interested in, primarily because I'm curious whether they'll announce new games or just repeat what we already know, and also how they'll handle the Scorpio announcement. I'm not interested in most of the exclusives they're offering, or their general direction, so they'll really have to knock it out of the park, for me to become a customer. Based on their last couple E3s (pretty anemic, imo), they're not going to do that. But I'm still interested in what they show. This is Scorpio's and Microsoft's E3 year. They've got the spotlight. Let's see what they do with it.

Sony - seems like they blew their load during the last couple of E3s, so I expect this one to be rather lightweight in comparison. I'd like to see more from God of War, Death Stranding, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Detroit, the Uncharted DLC, and some other titles. I'm not really expecting anything major, though. I'm a happy customer, so I'll just enjoy the show. Some news on Horizon DLC would make me happy.

Nintendo - give me another reason to buy a Switch. Zelda looks really great. What an incredible year for RPGs! But I'm not going to buy a console for one game, no matter how good. Most of their main franchises don't appeal to me. Silly Nintendo is doing their usual Treehouse thing; that's one for the Nintendo fans, mostly.

If MS shows (and gives a release for) Below and Ashen, I'll be happy. I am very interested in the Scorpio stuff as well, of course. I want to see what it can do. Show me what it does to my current library. I need Crackdown and want to see the cloud stuff in full glory. Hopefully Forza 7 brings some new things to the table.

I bet Days Gone and God of War 4 will be highlighted for Sony. Probably some nostalgia pandering too, as it was so fawned over last year. Death Stranding will be another cinematic, and TLoU 2 will prolly have a nice vertical slice. We will likely get some more Detroit- hopefully a gameplay demo.

I saw that but apparently they don't update regularly, don't hit deadlines and at one point had completely stopped working on the game. So you'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath for this one.
