Will the Xbox One go down as the greatest console of all time?

Exactly my point. Games were far more repetitive back in the day. The difference? You were between the ages of 5-12 and you didn't care because you were having fun. Something that seems to be lost today. Why people can't just enjoy what they've got is beyond me. After a hard day of work all i want to do is sit down and get lost in a great gaming experience. There's plenty of that to go around these days.

the majority of todays "gamers" are too busy bitching or playing CEO to possibly have enough time actually playing games lol

Everything us better when your a kid. You don't know what your missing just what you have. Imagine if the Snes had a VCR in it. Would that cause it to be the greatest console if all time.
One if the reasons why I agree with this thread is that you have a console that is the future its not just about games a form of entertainment. Its an entertainment console that plays top notch games. Some of the technology in the X1 I would never be able to afford as of right now. With $500 I feel as if I'm in the future when I use it. Shoot look at back to the future. When Mcfly gets fired over his tv. That can actually happen to anyone now. I know bad example, but hopefully you get the idea.

I've not had a game to challenge me as much as Super Ghouls n' Ghosts on the SNES. And when you get to the 20 screen-high last boss *SPLOILER ALERT* (lol for those that are still planning on playing it for the first time) - and he says you have to return with a certain weapon and it starts you all the way over... WELL F ME! :)

One thing is for sure, games were definitely harder back then. Most (definitely not all) games now really hold your hand. That isn't necessarily a good or a bad thing though. Perspective.

Looking at title of thread, have not read the OP...

Even though it's too early to tell, I'd still think it's safe to say... No.

Anything is possible, not sure how probable however.

A lot of great systems have come before the X1, at least two of them were from MS themselves imo.

I waited in line to drop my quarters in this. A quarter was a good bit of change back then. It'd buy you a Dr. Pepper and a pack of now'laters.

Pong was way to repetitive for me, I kid I kid. Pong was before my time. First game was Mario on the nes. I do remember playing super Mario on the Snes and thinking there's no way games can look or play better than this. I think I was 10 or 11. Donkey Kong also. That game was so fun!!!! Oh man I want a super Nintendo!!! Was star fox on the snes or 64. Ohhhh streat fighter 2
Backin the day when I was a kid, but I'm not a kid anymore. Sometimes I sit back and wish I was a kid again.
That song has hole new meaning since I actually grew up!

None of them had the cloud though. With the power of the cloud the sky's the limit.

The cloud will not make that much of a difference until everyone has the bandwidth and speed necessary, not happening anytime soon.

Maybe the Xbox Two (Xbox 420) can take advantage of the cloud.

Just my two pennies, but I think it will. People just won't be able to utilize it that don't have the bandwidth or speed. If they name it that put me down for one now! Hopefully if I'm still in Indiana they will be like 2 of my favorite states by then.

There is only a handful of places in the world with the bandwidth and latency requirements to use it in the way that A7MAD is thinking (i think) and as such no dev will bother, writing all of this code and increasing the dev time, testing and everything for a feature that nearly no one can or will use?.

HALO 5, Most places in America and Uk do though, don't they?

You need 100MB/s - 1GB/s up/down bandwidth and probably sub 20ms latency. So no, the average is way lower then that.

Yup, I love that they are focused on the cloud with our X1. Love it.

That's what I'm thinking. We all know that "most" games are multiplats, and keeping that in mind, these games really won't utilize the cloud. Next would be exclusives.....we know not all exclusives will use the cloud either, especially not in a real meaningful way. So, what we're left with, are just a small handfull of games that will use the cloud.

I'm not sure what people are expecting....it's like they're expecting magic and limitless possibilities with the cloud. In reality, we're going to continue getting 720p 30 fps games as usual, with a sprinkling of games here and there using the cloud.

are you a Microsoft Xbox engineer?? Do you have a official link for the minimum bandwidth requirements to fully utilize Microsoft cloud?

Why do mods let this stealth trolling continue?

Pretty blatantly obvious he is trolling with posts like the one I quoted.

I don't personally consider that trolling. A troll (imo) is someone who comes into a thread just to say negative things, stir up sh*t, rain on the parade, get under people's skin, get attention, etc. That's not TD. He's not malicious. He is a goof who always speaks in hyperbole, but he's done this for years. I find it sort of ridiculous, but the guy is apparently a hyper-enthusiast who really gets excited and pumped up about stuff, or at least pretends to. I don't think anyone takes him very seriously, as evidenced by a lot of the responses in the thread. It's become pretty much a running joke.

p.s. Why do people complain about "why do the mods ____" and never even bother to report the posts they are complaining about?

There is no doubt in my mind that the Xbox One is the console of the year. The hardware is untouched by others, but they need to work on the software side. It's a mess IMO. Once the software/os/ui is streamlined, it could be one of the greatest of all time.

Personally, I think the 360 holds that candle right now.

The hardware is untouched by what? It's equivalent to about a midrange PC, and not even equal to let alone the most powerful console.
