On a side note, you've gotta give 343 and MS some props for moving Halo to 60 fps early. The adaptive res thing, as well.

If MS published their own version of Destiny, they could've run the AI and physics off the server. Game would've been able to achieve some special things in that scenario. Real shame they didn't keep Bungie and allow them to make Destiny.

Still have hope that part of the reason for the weaker CPU in Scorpio was due to plans of running GAAS games with some Cloud compute.

Yes, of course, sorry about that guys.
My concern is that now we have Bungie saying its 30 fps on all consoles even though they didn't mention Scorpio because they didn't bother. What if these games are coming out on 30 fps because of the Xbox one s cant do it, are we stuck with 30 fps?

How can this console be called premium when they are telling them that the framerate must be the same. Windows PC don't have this problem and they are people that play games at 30 and 60 together and they have fun playing.

To me, this console is pointless to call premium if the framerate is held back.

If the framerate is locked to 30 across all platforms common sense would dictate that the more powerful platforms will herald in other advantages. Expect the Scorpio to be more akin to the PC version visually.

They should just unlock just to jab at SONY. People will go to xbox with the 60 fps

Well think about this. The PC version will most likely have options for various framerates. Probably why it is launching later as well as to not diminish from the 30 fps console versions. I'd guess the reason why they haven't discussed the Scorpio version is because like the PC version it is going to launch with unlocked features. This could be the case. Can't discuss a clearly superior version that might diminish the sales on the console with the marketing deal.

Aren't there a bunch of PSPro games that run 4k/ checkerboard 30fps and 1080p/ 60fps?
The issue is during MP. It would be pay to win if they had opponents at twice the framerate. I see some foolish posts elsewhere saying the resolution increase constitutes the same kind of advantage, but that's hogwash.

I thought they said the system is already beast mode. No need for the configuration.
For games programmed with dynamic resolutions and unlocked framerate. Otherwise it would have to be patched. Some code just isn't open to automatic manipulation.

I don't think that's too foolish, I could see a higher resolution being advantageous for sniping at a distance where pixels matter (ever done 1v1 snipers on coag?), but I agree that fps advantages are more meaningful.

Personally I think they could do a better job in terms of matching....just have separate matching for 30 fps, 60fps and a don't care.

Or just be 60fps like everyone else bungie haha!

I think one thing developers have learnt in the past few years, is that splintering your online community is a sure fire way to end longevity for your game.

Destiny will never be an e-sports game, so they could easily offer the option, but I think pride/arrogance will reduce them to metting out a minimal improvement. Not only that, they have to hold half the game back to sell to you at a later date, and I wouldn't be shocked if one of those improvements is fps related.

Meh its destiny there will be no shortage of players given the online requirement and its not like splintering isn't on the menu with 3 or 4 expansion packs being inevitable.

You sure? I could have sworn that there was an audio of Alber P saying that no patch is required post-Scorpio release just those that are out now will require a patch

I think for PvP lack of 60fps it's inexcusable.

BF1 is what, 64players? Runs near 60fps with way more scale + nicer visuals than destiny 2. No excuse for a super low 4v4 multiplayer.

Singleplayer, whatever I guess.

Plus it has biplanes and those old fashioned cars and horses. I often ride the horse and every time I gets sword kill I shout "there can be only one"

It's quiet out there, man! E3 inklings should start rolling in soon though.

In the meantime:

If Battlefront 2 can be 60 fps at 4K, shouldn't Destiny? Then again maybe Battlefront runs stuff off of servers and they are using dx12. Bungie needs to update their game engine.

Maybe they should have just used dynamic res scaling across the board, and targeted 60 fps. I really wish this would have become standard practice for both consoles.

I agree about 4v4 pvp. There is no AI or vehicles sucking up CPU cycles. Not targeting 60, especially when the visuals aren't top tier, is disappointing.

Bungie really nail gunfire gameplay. When you read reviews for the first game, even though the entire package was lackluster and wanting, the overwhelming consensus was that Bungie can still capture the shootout magic.

If they can do that again, I think that's more important than the framerate. It turns into such a pissing contest, and people tend to forget the important bits.

Is it fun?

Wow, yeah I forgot about all the extra vehicle physics too, bungie is just behind the curve in terms of technology in my opinion compared to DICE, their engine is simply serviceable at best.

Yeah, notice that Halo runs much better since they left. The same cannot be said for the writing, it seems.

Yup, Bungie creates a great gunplay engine. While not the best visually, it has awesome gunplay, gameplay, and in their earlier Halo engines a s*** ton of stuff going on in game.

I disagree. The story was stagnating under Bungie, and they bailed. Now it's moving forward again.

I will admit...Bungie are the masters of making games fun. There's really no comparison in terms of checkpoint to checkpoint gameplay fun between classic Halos and 343's versions. It's impressive that the level design and AI are better from a gameplay standpoint in 16 year old Halo: CE than Halo 5.

It would be amazing to see what they would be capable of if they could exclusively work on Scorpio and use Azure servers. Damned shame Mattrick let them go.

I played some of my favorite Halo:CE levels in the MC Collection not too long ago and they are still much more fun than any single level in Halo 5.
