Many have the Pro and the fact is that box, along with maybe marketing agreements, are holding the XOX back. Just look at Destiny 2 as an example. Support those games with actual money those who do an honest effort with the better hardware.

LOL Marketing agreements aren't holding anything back, MS has the marketing for Anthem and AC and both are checker boarded and 30 fps. Is marketing making Crackdown 3 or Gears of War's campaign 30fps or that the MP portion has adaptive resolution to keep it at 60 fps on X1X? Nope, it's a combo of the limitations of the tech in the box and also the engines the devs are using and where they choose to focus the power. MS never said to expect double framerates in games and nobody should expect that, you'll find it done here and there but the vast majority of titles will target the same framerate as the base consoles.

We'll, s***. It's a good thing you aren't going to fool yourself into thinking that all games will be 4K, seeing as how Phil said devs can use the power any way they want. That in itself says not all games will be 4K. You're quick. lol

Once again, if it was a "TRUE 4K" console they wouldn't have to make the choice to lower the resolution, the games would just be 4K and the choices would be in other areas like framerate and detail settings. Native 4K can happen for certain types of games yes, calling it a 4K capable machine isn't wrong, saying it's a true 4K machine is.

It's starting to get really old that VaLLiancE continues to be allowed to post in a One X forum as a resident troll. As much as 90% of what he says doesn't bother me but he is turning this thread into a "PS4 Pro is better as it's $100 cheaper" one man campaign.

If one console is ~44% more powerful than the other according to many in this forum, why is it matching performance wise the lesser console?

If the power is there why isn't it being used? You can't have it both ways by saying 'the tech' is holding it back and in the same sentiment acknowledge that 'there are no marketing deals causing it either'. One console is more powerful than the other and it isn't by a small amount.

Because the GPU is where most of that performance difference comes from, the CPU tends to be what's holding the framerates down and it isn't that big of a jump over what is in the Pro. Not only that but Sony already had a more efficient CPU set up before MS made their improvements to the CPU in the One X. Both CPU's are still underpowered and can't really double framerates in most games.

These things were made to make games look better, the boost in CPU will help with some things and hopefully keep framerates more solid but you can't double the production of what the CPU is doing if you are only jumping from 1.75mhz in the base X1 to 2.3mhz in the One X, or if you want to compare the Pro to X1X it's 2.1 vs 2.3. Even Richard at DF said that the jump isn't big enough in CPU to make the One X version twice the framerate of the Pro version.

Take another game, AC Origins, MS has the marketing rights to that game yet it's "4K checker boarded with variable resolution" on both consoles. I don't doubt it'll be higher res than the Pro version at all times and it should be but the fact that it's not even native 4K or 60 fps shows that there is only so much devs can do with this power, especially when the biggest chunk of dev time is going to be spent on the X1 and PS4 rather than the refresh consoles.

We don't know what is in these agreements. When a remaster of a decade old game is a timed exclusive because of a marketing agreement then that shows you how ridiculous these deals are.

Just because the PC version can hit 60 fps doesn't mean that it will on all PC's, they'll likely have to have CPU's that are much better than the ones in either of these consoles to do that.

Val has been pretty consistent from the beginning in saying that X wouldn't be running most games at 4k. Even before E3 that had third party games using CB there.

X is going to be amazing. Don't let the truth kill your hype for the machine.

Plus it's early days. We'll see what the machine is capable of when more devs get their hands on it.

Best way to deal with trolls is to not take the bait. Who cares how Destiny runs on the X? I'm buying the X day one, but I'll play Destiny 2 on my PS Pro. Console wars won. Get both

That should go for people who say "you can't handle that the X1X is more powerful than the Pro" as well. Bottom line is it's happening all around, comparing as far as technical expectations is one thing, comparing game libraries etc is another. There is no comparison as far as which one is more powerful, the only valid reason to compare is to get sort of a jumping off point as to what should be expected and what shouldn't.

I think you should consider yourself* fortunate that you only have to deal with one or two detractors. Everyone else here seems very supportive of Xbox. That is not the way it is in most forums.

That's true and the reason it is, is because even low end CPU's for PC's are faster than the Jaguars in the consoles.

We have one already but certain posters go OT and troll other consoles here in this one and than when someone responds/takes the bait they blame the authority for letting it happen but fail to mention what they do.

It just comes down to how you want to define "true" 4K.

I think it's fine to call it that because X was designed to run Microsoft's first party games in 4k. And it looks, at least so far, like that will be the case.

Third party efforts have always been left to those developers design choices. I think Microsoft has been very clear about that.
