Another thread like this? UGH. Just buy your systems, play the games and shut the f*ck up. :)

ya, gaf definitely has a bias against these tech/gaming websites and what not, but I would like to understand how they get to their points that they are virtually the same and what not.

not saying they are wrong, just trying to understand.
I didn't bother reading the article..but if it's by Peter Bright then I would venture he pulled them out of his ass :)

Arse Technifail is one of the worst websites known to man.
I don't care what it is.....if it had a few choice words about the xbox one and praised the ps4 like the second coming......the thread would still be open.

Everyone needs to stop reading articles already. We all know about the next gen systems. F*ck, get over it and just play.

Yeah the gap between PS4 and XB1 is larger than 360 and PS3. But they got the general idea right, that PS4's GPU gives it an advantage. It's typical for GAF to flip out over things like that.

They also freaked out because of the claim that you can't see the diff between 720p and 900p from 10 feet away. Well it depends on the tv size and how many mosaic patterns/jaggies are going on, which are visible from farther away. 10 feet is pretty far away.

They are saying the gap is smaller because the only difference will be resolution but in past they had different tech going on in the game engines.so basically the same IQ other than resolution unlike the past....or I could be reading it wrong.

Well the ~50% TF gap means devs can afford to run PS4 games at a higher res stepping (720 to 900, or 900 to 1080), but not much else. Those steppings already equal ~50% more pixels to be rendered.

They could also put that power towards better framerate or more IQ, but devs are less likely to do that because it requires more work on the game code.

So basically if you don't care about the diff between 720 and 900, or 900 and 1080, you don't have much to worry about.

~35% :p not 50.

Everything i have seen shows the games are basically the same and if we got into a GIF war on graphics as of right now you would get wtfpwned.
Everyone with eyes that work can see the difference between 1080p and 720p.
Gifs don't do neither console justice come on man!

That's about the best comparison article I've read yet. Nice and simply explained.

Nothing like comparing Tablet CPU to Tablet CPU and Low end GPU to Low end GPU, and slow GDDR5 to slower DDR3 with a ESRAM Band aid.

Hey give them some credit, it's a laptop CPU/GPU at least.:troll:

System power has never mattered. The Xbox was most powerful and it was in last place. The Triple was more powerful and it was in last place. The Genesis was the most powerful, last place. Dreamcast, Neogeo, PSP, Vita, Jaguar. Anyone seeing a pattern?

so you're saying Sony is going to be in last place?

I believe price will also play a factor.

Anything is possible but I think the WiiU might buck the trend this gen. We will know in a year or two how MS and Sony will do.
Honest prediction, void of any fanboyism. Nintendo will be third, but manage to ultimately make a profit. As for X1 and PS4, it really depends on who captures the "imagination" of the gamer world. Neither are exactly "pure" gaming machines since they'll have internet and multimedia features up the wazoo. X1 might have the edge if they can produce great TV content, but I see very similar sales like what we have today making the fanwars even more banal.

Agreed. We could see either one pull it out this Gen. I see more of the same with sales almost identical for both MS and Sony but there are so many unknown variables out there. Supply, game delays, hardware/software faults, online issues and so on. Only time will tell.

My man.

MS' fate will be dictated by how well they do in North America. They need to be the console of choice over here.

It always does.
