Bonus Round: Time up for Xbox one?

Microsoft will be looking to beat previous 360 sales and trends, especially as the 360 had a rather sluggish start. So far, it is trending ahead of 360 but it needs to maintain that momentum.

This is the 360 sales broken down by the Microsoft reporting quarters and financial years:

When this thread started time was up for xbox1 everyone agreed they should have pulled the plug. @ this point TF launched and have bought MS some more time with it.

One of the biggest games of the year coming out and right on que some doom and gloom.... with the same fuktards.

You didn't even watch the video, did you?

And I'd hardly call Garnett Lee that. He's one of the most experience, knowledgeable, respected, and unbiased guys in the gaming journalist industry. I've been listening to his podcasts for about 7 or 8 years now from the 1up show through Weekend Confirmed.

The headline for the video may be sensational, but blame that on some dude at gametrailers, not the 2 guest speakers. If you would have watched the video, you would have realized that the points the Lee and Pachter were making were rational and that Garnett Lee brought up Titanfall.

After playing TF which I love ,I still don't see it being enough to compete with the PS4. I like arguing that John Carter was a good movie.... the Xbox one should have never see the light of day in its current form

What form would you have preferred the Xbox One to be?

discrete R9 280x equiv gpu, Core I5 4670k equiv cpu with integrated graphics(for low end stuff like media crap), 4 gigs of ddr4 and 4 gigs of gddr5.

I think it's too early to tell, but there are some pretty big concerns for MS.

Honest opinion? I think they really screwed up.

A $500 game console that performs worse than it's $400 competitor and is being hated on by a large swath of the "gaming community."

A $500 set top box that has some unique features but is 3-5 times as expensive as some of it's competitors, has a base unit that is many times larger, and if you want many of the extra features you need to install a large camera-looking-thing (and have a cable box.)

And it's quite possible that within the next year we'll have Apple REALLY gearing up their set top box game. Google might re-get interested in Google TV or continue to expand upon their success with Chromecast.

So it becomes this "who is going to buy this thing?" quandry. And I don't mean that literally 100% but in general.. millions have them already (and I have 2) but in the long run?

At that price or even post price drop?

It's like they targeted a consumer base that they were only successful with once their device hit the $250 ballpark.. with a $500 console.. lol.

That just about sums it up.

As a future PS4 owner the Xbox One will do fine.I don't think they'll beat Sony but I think they could run them pretty close as they seem to be rectifying a lot of their mishaps. Titanfall is a great start (not my type but is has undoubted quality) and I expect it to bridge the gap quite a bit. I think the US and US market is far from won over but I don't see Microsoft making headway into Europe but I'm sure they'd be happy to reclaim a sizeable market in the US and the UK again.

I think a big bulk of the one's market will be lost till it reaches $200 or less. Unlike the PS4( right now any way), MS is going after more than just gamers.

Then Ms must have content of interest that can sell to non gamer. I have spoken in thepast. Direct access to Sky, HBO, or their one TV/Media apps will be a good way. Also exclusive hit shows like house of cards for Netfix, True Detective for HBO would also help to sell to non gamer.

At the moment, for instance, in Germany, if you want to watch football, you need to get a cable box from one of the cable supplier like Vodafone, & pay monthy fee for minimal channels (& the mininal channels sucks), then pay extra for sky to be available on your cablebox. This isn't vey interesting for me, as I end up paying mo than I needed.

Now, if I can have sky (paid subcription) on XBOX one direct, then it will be a very good reason for many people to get it.

That they must, but this is the sort of thing you bring over time.
