Dragon Age: Inquisition - Nov. 18

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age...I-Troubleshooting-amp-Workarounds/m-p/4012827

And I am totally NOT restarting. Unless the patch does not come out until the first week of December.

Damn. I'd say f*** it too.

Luckily I haven't seen anything too bad. Except for one conversation bug I had at the beginning. I have noticed NPC'S zip around real fast in towns. And one thing that drives me nuts, small as it is, is when I mount my horse, my character just teleports to it if I hit A just a few feet from the saddle.

Cool thanks. And do you know when specializations open up?

No idea. I think I'm about as far as you are. Just got the sky hold last night... And after about 30 hours of Game play. Mad to think the game is only really starting now.

Cool thanks. And do you know when specializations open up?

Specializations are collecting missions given by specific people in Sky hold. I know for a Rogue Specialization you have to talk to a person called three-eyes for one of them.

Friggin Giants and Dragons. Both are proving to be enemies I avoid if I can and brace for if I can't.

Also Sera is starting to work my nerves now. I'd kick her out of the inquisition if she wasn't my best rouge character.

Took out one giant in the desert area. He wasn't to bad for a fight. Still haven't beaten a dragon. I'm nearly level 11 now so I might head back and try that one in the Hinterlands soon.

Wait until you get to an area that has 2-3 giants in 1 area. They gang up very well.

Lol... Yeah, I think it'd be hitting the disengage button pretty fast. Took me a about 7 minutes of concentrated fire from everyone to bring down one!

Guys, I'm out of this thread. It frustrates me so much to see you guys making a progress through a 100+ hour long game while I wait for gender fix and others. Even more frustrating is that I'm leaving the one thread in the entire UVGF where everybody's talking about an actual game. And frustration aside I think I'm going to see spoilers here and there in this thread. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah see ya later.
lol, this is what i've done i turned the game down from nightmare to normal, i dont give f*** about my repsonses and who i bang. at this point i just want to get thru it. younger me would have done what you re doing.

Finally killed my first dragon at level 13.

You guys are talking getting gang banged by giants and slaying dragons. And I'm just sitting getting killed by a bear.

Haha.

I found out how you do specializations. You need to unlock the trainers from the war room via a mission. Then they turn up in the castle.

Yeah that fight was a b****. Not as much as defending the trebuchets. I had to run back to Haven to avoid bad guys and happened to find more supply caches. That was a f***ing blessing because I was starting to say how bulls*** the game got for leaving me with just one potion refill in such a big fight.

I found one supply cache in the great hall but that was it. I need to keep any eye out for more.

Every boss fight save for the first one has had supply caches available somewhere. There are three caches to be found for that defend haven fight.

Thanks for the tip

Looking forward to this Sera chick. I only have that Bull guy who was a warden.

That you do. However, I am struggling with the collection of things. It says I need 3 things which I can not find, it says kill demons to fill said things but there are no demons. I also can not find any writings on the specializations in the book shop :txbmad: Getting very frustrated, I just spent 2 hours searching storm coast for these things and got nothing:smash:

Sorry to hear about that bug. How far into the game are you? I'm just wondering how much time you'd lose, if you restarted. I know you said you won't restart, but that fix could be a long time away.

I'm feeling like I'm getting a few spoilers by reading too -- minor, stuff, like
the fact that Haven is destroyed and you get Skyhold after that
-- and I'm thinking about stopping reading, too. But it's tough, because as you say, this is one of the better threads on the forum.

I got Dorian recently. Best Moustache award. I like having two mages, one attack and one spirit, but I'd have to trade out Sera for Dorian, or else the party would be too ranged. Ideally I would have a party made of Dorian, Iron Bull, and Sera -- four weirdoes saving the world -- but that would be too imbalanced.

Fun fact: Jennifer Hale voices Krem.

There are some small, minor spoilers in this thread alright, but that can't be helped. We can't constantly be spoil tagging. I try to keep my questions and comments as generic as possible without referring to a major and obvious story spoiler. I'd be lost with this thread too be honest. The game is so new there is very little documented on it yet and this is a good place to find out some things.
Maybe mod the title and put a minro spoilers alert in it or something?

I'd be concerned that that would drive people away and encourage posting of untagged spoilers. We could start a separate spoiler thread, although I don't think that would get much traffic.

I think the best solution is just to remind everyone to be careful about spoilers. I think you're doing it in a considerate way, D-V-ANT, doing your best to avoid them by trying to make the questions and references generic as possible.

In general, the best thing is to remember that a lot of people reading the thread have not gotten to your point in the game, so try not to reveal anything specific that they might not have encountered yet.

Spoiler tags are simple to implement, btw, no more trouble than a quote. They can be found under that same drop-down menu.

Why is this thread stickied and not the other new games? :p

There is your answer on why I stuck this thread.
Everywhere else it is a pissing contest between 'My console has da betta grass!' etc fanboy bs.
Actual game discussion tends to be few and far between, and DA:I seems to be quite epic.

Its crazy how little info there is out there. I mean with games like Skyrim and Dark Souls you can find massive amounts of content via detailed guides and stuff on launch day. All I am finding with this game is rather vague or generic guides.

Yep. Next too nothing about it anywhere that doesn't include massive spoilers.

10 hours in so far. Maybe not much, but I feel I'm already too invested in this. That's a testament to quality, but here it makes me feel bad at the same time. As I said, if the patch does not come out soon, the frustration of waiting will eventually take over this, as when I start over, there is a solution for this.

Seems like I'm still not 'leaving' this thread btw lol. I'll check from time to time, but not all posts for sure. It's getting harder to catch up.

I wish I knew when they were releasing a patch. I'm still getting too many crashes. It makes me not want to do story missions in fear of repeating a long dialogue or boss fight.

This character is almost caught up to my old one. I'm not even sure why I stuck with him. It's an elven archer, and my first character was an human archer. Maybe I got bored with him. I tend to restart RPGs so much it's almost silly. But I can't help myself.

I'm using this time to try and learn more about the game mechanics.

Killed my 3rd dragon. Apparently it does NOT get easier as you level up.

It unfortunate Bioware decided against mods to this game. Then it really could have been comparable to skyrim in terms of longevity.

On a side note has anyone run across the helmet that the main character has in all the trailers? I have not found it yet.

10 hours would be a lot to repeat. I don't blame you for waiting for the patch, although I'm not that patient. I hope they fix it quickly.

I'm not surprised there's not many guides around, I keep unlocking more zones when I still have loads to do in ones I've already unlocked, then I go and unlock new areas in zones I've already done a lot in. It just keeps throwing new stuff at you, it's seriously impressive just how much there is to do.

The Reaver specialisation for Warrior is ridiculous too. I take damage with use of one of the abilities, and I do more damage the less health I have. Combine that with a weapon that gives me guard on every hit plus life on kill as well as a support spec'd Vivienne and I'm slaughtering everything at the moment.

I'm glad we got that advice to leave the Hinterlands. I was getting kind of tired of the game, doing all the dinky sidequests in that area, then seeing them pile up more by the hour. Now I've done the main questline to the point where
I've chosen a side, and I'm dealing with the ramifications,
and things have been more engaging.

Man, this game is really political. I normally don't like that (e.g., didn't in Witcher 2), but in this case, I'm following all the ins and outs, or most of them anyhow, and finding it pretty interesting.

I took some time to try some different races. I have to say that I like elf or human the best. It doesn't feel right playing as dwarf or qunari (however you spell it...). Normally, I dig dwarves, but it just feels so....stumpy. I didn't mind it as much in Dragon's Dogma.

I also had two crashes during my brief trials of the tutorial area. One of them actually ruined my character. I can't level him up at all or even access the character record screen. I've moved on, reloaded, and restarted. Nothing. It was only a test and not something I was going to continue with, but still the bugs in this game are a bit much. I'm lucky that I have not experienced any other bugs. I mostly just get crashes.

Man, you're having a pretty buggy experience, Godsmack.

Shinobi, one of the GAF insiders, said, "Info about a patch should be coming very soon. Lots of fixes in it." It's not clear whether the patch is for PC, consoles, or both.

I've been reading the bioware forums for this game. Supposedly, they are aware of these issues and are working on it. It seems that Nvidia cards are having problems with no real fixes yet until they patch it. Not that AMD isn't having problems...

When I first started, I might get a crash every few hours, which was acceptable to me for a "new" release. Now, it seems like a guarantee. I have no idea why it got worse, even on new characters.

I might try a couple more of their "fixes" tonight. if it doesn't work, I might have to take a break. As much as I'm dying to play the game, redoing a big battle or having to go back through all my dialog choices will kill the immersion for me (not to mention make it tedious).

I hardly ever get crashes in cutscenes. it just seems to happen in game. The problem is it might happen before I get a chance to save my progress.

It could be due to graphics settings. I really, really hate to lower them though. One person said to close explorer.exe during game for another way to fix crashes. I'll have to try it.

It's just that directX crash every time. Otherwise, my game has been pretty smooth. Cutscenes play decently, no major glitches (yet), and everything seems to be ok.

I wish we had an estimate on that patch release date. Then, I could force myself to stop playing until then. Unless it's like a month away....

and what have you done to rectify the Diectt X issues ? Have you reinstalled the one in the DA:I folder ? have you updated to the latest version from the MS website ? have you tried a fresh install of the latest GPU drivers ? One thing that will likely work is playing in windowed mode. Windowed mode, like I said previously, has stopped me getting crashes on start up
