Dragon Age: Inquisition - Nov. 18

I don't think the combat in this game is well suited to playing on nightmare. I just can't find any more effective strategies. If I can't win, I either have to be extremely lame (such as jumping where they can't hit me and spamming arrows, or retreat until the party revives), or I have to come back later. I would like to see a video of someone actually beating the game on nightmare without being cheap.

There were a few folks on streams playing nightmare and not needing to be cheap as they battled away at harder enemies. However, all of them seemed to be Mages. Mages are the key to battle, if they do poorly then you are likely gunna get whooped.

What I find odd is why the Archer has so few AOE skills. They do have a couple but the AOE effect is passive. I can not find one you actually do yourself, like a fire arrow volley or something.

Because I love her so much. Post your characters guys!

Mine might make you sick, but I will post her later on.

Also! I have a tip for you guys. The game moves a modest pace and I've noticed that even with enemies that are one level below you, it still takes some time to kill them. I recommend leveling on particular skill set to it's top as quickly as you can. It makes a hell of a difference when you face tougher enemies. So, if you wanna quest binge in the hinterlands to get your level up, do so. Because some of those skills, especially the Full Draw for archery, does wonders against other tougher enemies.

Getting this game tomorrow, with a new PS4, which I will also double as my Netflixer.

Oh yeah baby.

Close up shot of the face? I feel the lips are too bright, & cheeks a bit too rosy. Otherwise, looking good. Personally not a fan of facial tattoos, but its a preference.

I don't think the archer is as bad as you were making out. I love playing as Sera. I build up her archer tree and her stealth tree and set her to defend me . I also limited her tactics to to that power shot and one other one I can't remember.

It is not bad. Pretty sure I never said it was bad. My comments were mainly born out of frustration, with the AI not being effective enough and the archer class not being a powerhouse meant you were at the mercy of the poor AI. Since I seem to have rectified the AI issues I have gone back to archer.

FYI;The stealth tree is not really for archers, it is meant more for dual daggers. The sabotage tree is more for archers with its ground traps and added poison damage to arrows. I personally only have the first stealth skill as that is useful for any class.

Love how you can tailor it [crafted materials] to your liking by applying different materials. So as an Archer I want that flanking bonus damage, and attack damage too.

Yeah, that's a nice touch.

Anybody know of a good place to buy and/or find some good weapon & Armour Schematics ? I could do with a nice staff for my Mage, and I have no decent armour schematics at all.

I ran across a dwarf somewhere who was selling schematics. I want to say it was in Val Royeaux, but I'm not sure.

Also, is there anywhere to store items ? I have a cap ton of stuff for higher levels just taking up valuable inventory space.

No, I haven't seen any place to store items yet. One of the inquisition perks expands inventory, although those perks seem so rare, I'll probably use them for something else. I haven't filled up my inventory yet.

Really, not filled it up once ? I have filled mine several times.

As for schematics, apparently there is a schematic merchant in red cliff. Not sure if true or not, but I am certainly going to make my way there on next boot up and see.

Yes, it might've been Redcliffe -- that sounds right.

p.s. I tend to be pretty compulsive about my inventory space. I'll keep it pretty clean and often make trips to the merchant to unload things.

I was telling my friend about this game. He was all pumped up about buying until he saw the gameplay. "Looks fun, but the graphics look like s***."

lol gamer expectations.

Love the game but man performance on PC is so all over the place. I get random hitching and framerate drops regardless of settings. People have been complaining about it on many forums. I go from 60 to 45 to 30 so randomly. That plus these hilariously long ass load times on a SSD. I feel like a console gamer. Game is fun though.

Really starting to enjoy this game now. I have my party set up in a way that seems to be working well, tactics, preferred skill usage, attacking/defending, and who follows who seems to be spot on. Now I am kicking ass in battle.
Also just spent like 90 minutes crafting a crap load of stuff that really improved my defensive and attacking abilities.

The stealth tree with the archer is slick. The first two abilities make the rogue less of a target even when attacking. It works great. Sera lasts for ages in a battle protecting me while I keep buffing the two tanks.
There is a trader who sells schematics in Val and another in redcliff.

How do you make the parts like handles and pummeles and stuff?

The most useful perks for archers on the stealth tree are the first one since I use it to move around undetected, possibly the upgrade if you use it a lot. And the perk at the bottom where you do more damage from shadows. Unfortunately, that perk is all the way at the bottom, so I don't know if it's worth the perks you need on the way there.

I have also experimented some wit the sabotage perks. I actually went all the way down the right side just for an experiment. The throwing blades are actually pretty good (I upgraded them fully). Their range is not great, but they seem to do good damage and will drain the target's armor too. I'm still experimenting with caltrops to see if they are effective at slowing down enemy attacks. Throwing them in a group may be useful, but I need to see.

Good thing we can respec.

I've already taken two inquisition perks for more inventory. I don't know how I fill it up so fast. I mean, I go to shops all the time. I think the problem may be that I find a lot of weapons and armor that can only be used at higher levels, so I can't get rid of it, but surely there is something else clogging my inventory.

I sell the valuables and turn in the research. Crafting items don't count towards the total I don't think. I don't know. It's hard to see the inventory when it's all in lists.

Yeah, I was disappointed that I could not run it on ultra with 60fps. It is just a console port after all. I adjusted my settings to make it look as good as possible while maintaining a mostly smooth framerate. I like the landscape, I so I keep textures, grass, and whatever else effects it at ultra, and turn down a few other settings to make up for this.

Oh for sure. I am not saying there is nothing there. Just that it is really meant for the dual daggers guys, same as the assassin specialization is, but there are things in there an archer could use too.

How do you make the parts like handles and pummeles and stuff?

Exactly the same way you make weapons. To attach them to a weapon use the modify weapon bench.
The same for goes for armour upgrades like legs and arms, except you use the modify armour bench.

Yeah, I have respeced like 3 times now.
That first stealth skill is pretty much a necessity. as got me out a many situation.

Is it true that specialization points can not be respeced ?

She's pretty! The makeup looks a bit much for me, but that could be because of graphic settings.

I've been toying with my combat settings as well. My setup is good because Solas and I kick ass at range while Cass and that other Templar guy, a tank, handle the upclose work. That ability that gives them armor does wonders, they take almost no damage even when surrounded by 4 enemies. Knocking enemies down with my bow helps too.

I can't seem to be able to craft anything though. Everything I have is red and I can't use it. I have a s*** ton of resources but for some reason none of my characters can use anything I craft.

That is odd. Are you sure you crafting the right gear for your class ? it does tell you where you apply the materials what the gear is suited for. Also, a lot of what I have found has species restrictions too. So some can only be used by Humans...etc. As for upgrades, you have to have weapons which have free upgrade slots. If you look in the inventory screen you should be able to tell which ones will allow upgrades. Have to make sure you craft the right upgrade for the weapon too. A 2 handed great sword grip will not work with an axe or other 2 handed weapons.

Anyone who's killed any of them got any tips for the dragons? I gave the one in the Hinterlands a trial run but by the time I got it to land my party had four potions left and didn't end well.

Lolol. good point :D

I know! Everything I have can't be used by my class. I mean armor, weapons, nothing. Everything I pick up is for another class and it sucks. I want a better bow and armor but I have tons of s*** that neither I, or anyone else in my party can use.

Hmm, I'm not sure. With this character, I just saved my perks and spent several at a time to test them. I haven't even respec'd yet officially, so I'm hoping for the best.

What are specialization points? I must not have gotten that far in the game yet or not sure what you mean.

28 hours and I've just reached the castle. I feel like the game is only starting up now. That advice on leaving the Hinterlands and progressing the game was solid.

When do specializations open up? And when do I get to the part where I can customize my home base?
