I didn't say I'd be playing it in 6 month, I said for all we know it could be 3 months to a year later.
Well 3months is super ridiculous considering UC4

Dragon Quest has probably been mentioned before, but that's the first time I've noticed it. I've heard it's a good JRPG series. I remember a lot of hoopla surrounding DQ8, some years ago. That's good news, that a new one is coming to the PS4. I'll keep an eye out.

Eh, might want to hold your expectations. It's not a mainline Dragon Quest at all, it's some weird action spinoff Dynasty Warriors style game. Someone called it AAA release the other day, I busted a gut laughing.
LOL Again I used it as an example that we don't know when it could come, I wasn't saying I think it is coming 3 months later. However if it were to be ready by then I doubt they'd hold it back because of UC when that game doesn't have anything more than a generic spring date which covers late March to late June.

Wait, UC4 was delayed till Spring/Summer 2016? I expect another delay and the release date slips to September/October/November.
Spring lasts from basically the 3rd week in March until the 3rd week in June, those generic seasonal release windows offer a decent cushion.
I agree, they do, but how many big games release in those months. I am not saying it is impossible, as I am sure some big name games have released in those months, but seems the odds are against it.
I think established franchises can release anytime they want and do very well, I'm not saying UC is coming in June but it wouldn't shock me. TLOU came out in June so it's not like Sony/ND haven't released a big game (a new IP at that) during that time of year before.
I totally agree, big established franchises can release any time they wish and not suffer. but for the campanies behind them seem to want them in releasing in Q4.
As for Last of Us, it is a bit of a false comparison. It only released in June because of the Next-gen launch. I know it is easy to say this, but I bet anything that it would have released in Q4 at any other time, and I bet any money that the TLOU 2 doesn't release in the summer.
TLOU was delayed from May to June so I doubt it would have been a fall title even without the PS4 launch. One thing that did prove though was that a June launch for a game can be very successful. I wouldn't be surprised to see more games spread out during the year vs holding them all until the holiday where they end up competing against each other, it just makes more sense IMO.
Oh, really? Okay. Hype deflated. That didn't last long, lol.
Games selling well in summer months has been proved numerous times. Not sure why, but these companies just seem to ignore it.
Yeah it makes little sense to try to cram everything into the holiday period but for some reason companies keep doing it.
Because sales peak as it's near X-mas. Console hardware skyrockets and despite the huge influx of games, software sales also ride the wave. There's also crazy Black Friday and X-mas deals that spike sales. People are also at home more often due to holidays so people will play.Yeah it makes little sense to try to cram everything into the holiday period but for some reason companies keep doing it.

I'd rather have titles in Q4 instead of cramming 3 games in a 5 week time span at the end of winter.... 1886, Bloodborne, MLB 15

I love it, its the only time I can really just plant and play games for days straight with the snow
Snow isn't something we get in the LA area unfortunately
Do you honestly think like this? I mean honestly?
I get that a lot from those with a lesser understanding.
Do you honestly think like this? I mean honestly?
Do you honestly feel the need to belittle the people on these boards who don't think like you?
I mean honestly?
Oh and btw stop with the veiled insults.
It is always the same people good grief get a room or slug it out somewhere else.
I can't speak for the entire world, but at least for the United States, the holiday season is when consumers want to spend the most money. Many retail stores actually make 50% of there entire year of revenue during those 3 months of the year. That is because that is when the consumers are choosing to spend their money. The retail giants will follow consumer demand. It's not just games. It millions of products that sell more during the holidays.
In my opinion, I think Halo will sell more in the fall line up than it would if it was sold in February or May for example. By how much I do not know. There is a consumer mindset out there that can't be broken (in the US at least).Nobody is actually arguing that though. What is being said is that big name games can sell just as much at any time through the year. You really think a Halo, GTA, Mario, Gears, Uncharted, can't sell just as much outside that holiday window?
Mods must be getting the hard word from the boss I've seen a few warning posts lately.
